Best RV Parks & Resorts near Tahoe Vista, CA

RV parks in the Tahoe Vista region vary in size and amenities, with most offering essential services for motorhome travelers. Tahoe Valley Campground in South Lake Tahoe provides full hookups, including water, electric, sewer connections, and sanitary dump facilities in a forested setting. Silver City RV Resort offers 200+ full-hookup sites with 50-amp service, situated in Minden, Nevada. Carson RV Resort features both 50-amp and 30-amp electrical hookups with sewer and water connections. Sites throughout these parks accommodate various RV sizes, though some locations have limited space between units. A visitor commented, "Easy to access, even for larger rigs. We stayed in 39 foot 5th wheel. Plenty of pull thru spots, full hookups, regularly spaced bathroom/showers."

Advance reservations are strongly recommended during summer months when these parks operate at high capacity. Pull-through sites are available at several locations but fill quickly, particularly for big rig owners needing extra clearance. Most RV parks in the region maintain year-round operation, though winter access may require preparation for snow conditions. Laundry facilities are limited, with only Carson RV Resort specifically noting this amenity. Dump stations are available at most parks, but their accessibility can vary based on campground layout. Pet policies generally permit animals with standard restrictions. Road noise affects some locations, particularly those near highways, with one camper noting: "Highway noise" as a drawback at Truckee River RV Park despite the overall clean facilities.

    Silver City RV Resort

    Convenient location with great amenities

Great location if you want to be near Costco and the capital city.  Great views of the Sierras and the Carson valley.  Sites are narrow, about twice the width of your RV, and separated by chain link fencing.  But all sites are perfectly flat, paved pull-throughs; easy in, easy out parking.  Also electric, water, sewer hookup, cable and strong wifi and cell service.  Sites are gravel, but the campground has nice grassy dog parks, clean bathrooms and laundry, and well-stocked store with propane refill.  Pool and fishing pond were closed but looked great.  We were there in early April 2021; with our binoculars we could see skiers at the top of Heavenly Mountain ski area!

    Clio's Rivers Edge RV Park

    Great RV Park

Impressed with clean sites and tall pine trees. A very clean RV park and friendly staff. Call for reservations as its popular. Some lower sites had concrete pads for the provided table. Several seasonal private modular homes among the RVer. Secured large dog area with running creek within walking distance. A number of lower RV spaces within walking pathways to creek. Most were 30 amps and upper level had some 50 amps. Lots of back ends and pull throughs. Visitors must walk to the trash designated area fenced in with recycling bins. Only one bathroom building that housed laundry room. Shower stall in women’s area .50cent for 20 minutes and 2 toilet stalls that the door hits your knees a very weird old bathroom. We enjoyed the park and plan to return again.

    Topaz Lake RV Park

    Wonderful private RV campground

We spend a month here every year and several weekends, too. It’s clean, the host, Julie, is very friendly and the spaces are great. Plenty of space for our 34’ travel trailer. Full hookups - water, electric and sewer and Cable tv, plus decent wifi. No fires are allowed, but you are right on the lake, with two docks and a beach with shade everywhere and amazing views, so who cares? There is a fish cleaning station, a laundromat, bathrooms with toilets and pay showers. There is also a small store and a freezer full of delicious ice cream treats. Pet friendly as long as your pets are leashed. There are two docks and you can dock your boat for a few. We leave our kayaks on the beach. Everyone is really friendly and Chuck, the maintenance man, could not be nicer or more helpful! He is a treat to chat with! A picnic table at every site, trees at every site and the lake has great fishing and boating. Can you tell we love this place?

    Sparks Marina RV Park

    Nice place to visit

Nice level concrete pads for travel trailers, they also have pull through sites for diesel pushers. Both 30 and 50 amp sites along with cable on the pedestals, make sure you bring your own cable to connect to the pet store or they’ll charge you $4.95 for a cable cord. Large clean bathrooms, with a laundry facility that is open 24 hours a day. Upon checking in, staff will guide you to your site and assist you in backing in to your campsite or guide you through the pull through site. They explain all the rules which are typical and show you the location of your pedestal and your sewer hook ups. Wi-Fi is strong and if there are not a lot of people at the campsite you can stream to a television which is the first time in a long time. Unfortunately when the weekends come in the campsite gets full Wi-Fi signal does degrade quite significantly. The bathrooms are well-maintained and constantly cleaned, staff is very friendly and they have a small camp in store for you to pick up small supplies. If you need anything larger there is RV country which is located basically across the street at legends which is a rather large shopping mall area. There are plenty of places to go out and eat if you would like such as outback steakhouse, Olive Garden, BJ’s and of course there is a plethora of fast food restaurants available in the area as well. The campsites are flat and level and have a picnic table with artificial turf next to your campsite. I’ll just say that the sites are very cozy. Very quiet camp area staff is very friendly and helpful

    Sparks Marina RV Park

Great Urban RV Park, best in Reno Area

The Reno area is our home base, we are full time RVers in a 35 foot long fifth wheel.  We come to Sparks Marina RV Park whenever we are in town visiting family, and we typically stay for at least a month or sometimes two months.  We have visited ALL of the RV parks in the vicinity, and in Carson City to the south.  By far this is the best place in the area.  The sites are not at all outdoorsy, it is more of an urban feel, with a concrete pad and fake grass, but each site has a tree which is nice for shade in the hot summers.  The circulation works well and if you have a pull through you have two parking options for your tower/toad vehicle.  The spaces are long enough for the larger rigs, and are wide enough for all of the slides, even on both sides, and for awnings to go out.  Staff here is EXCELLENT.  We are always treated well, and we like how they are always there to help.  The office has some supplies for sale, and the laundry room and bathrooms are the CLEANEST we have ever seen.  Facilities are modern.  Rec room has ping pong, and pool, a large screen tv as well.  There is a small pool and hot tub, which gets a lot of use when open.  They do not allow tents.  They have a pretty robust WiFi system, and all cellular options are available in the area, so internet is not a problem.  Prices are higher than other options but the location is excellent, staff is excellent and they do a good job of security as well.  We feel safe here, and it is always clean.

    River Rest Resort

    Supe Nice and Easy

This is a great campsite, with lots of amenities. Super family friendly. Lots of kids at this site.

I came here in early August, 2020! It gets warm during the day and many spots have trees, which provide partial shade at some point in the day. I do recommend bringing a pop up structure for the moments when shade is not available.

We stayed at campsite 24, which is right on the river and next to the main river pool access. Lots of people coming by but everyone is respectful and there is some privacy from small trees planted along the path.

At the other end of the site is a river access that’s smaller and allows dogs (the main one does not). Since I do not have kids but do have a dog, I will probably try for the sites closer to the dog access next time.

The main river pool gets busy, lots of kids, families etc. but in the early evening and morning it is pretty empty and was a great time to relax. The dog access river pool was a lot less crowded. You can also float from the dog access pool down river to the main pool site which was a lot of fun.

The property has great bathrooms with showers. They take quarters for the showers, $.25 for 2 minutes. They have a small store onsite for the last minute essentials. They have a air pump to fill up rafts to float in the river. They also have wood delivery to your site if you order by 7pm. Each site has a picnic table and small fire pit with a grate if you want to cook on that! They also have a larger communal areas with BBQ and sink for those wanted to have a group meal. Each campsite has water, electricity and full RV hookups. So lots of RV’s at this location.

Very dog friendly and kid friendly.

Staff was super helpful and always present. They made rounds emptying trash cans, cleaning the bathrooms and just monitoring the area so that’s is super well maintained. You can tell they really love the place and want to keep it clean. They also were super nice when enforcing the rules, not mean but were not afraid to remind people to follow the camp rules (which were super reasonable).

No cell service, which was great. But you can drive up the hill 10 minutes to park at the vista and get a signal.

All in all we had a great time and will be back!

    Crystal Springs Campground

Camping under giant sequoias! What more could you want?

Beautiful, wild forest camping under huge sequoia trees in a well maintained campground with fairly well separated sites. Flush toilets and garbage disposal but no dump station or electrical or water hookups. Definitely not for big rigs and I have a teardrop trailer and my Outback which are almost 30 ft and it was quite a challenge

    Zephyr Cove Resort

    Family fun for all ages

Excellent spot for the whole family. Beware, if you are pulling a trailer brush up on your backing up skills. Very tight and narrow. Best time to get in the park is during the day. Not much difference between back in sites versus pull through sites. Very clean facilities. Close to everything. Everyone is nice and friendly. #162 is a good level site for RV.

    Washoe Lake State Park Campground

    Great stop over

Spent the night here on a road trip. 30$ for non Nevada resident but includes full hookups except water was shut off for the season. Flat, wide spaces with mostly pull throughs, clean bathrooms and shower. Convenient credit card pay system. Also a dump station.

Guide to Tahoe Vista

RV parks near Tahoe Vista, California provide year-round accommodation options with varying levels of privacy and natural settings. Located along the northeastern shore of Lake Tahoe at 6,230 feet elevation, the region experiences significant seasonal temperature variations with snow accumulation from November through April. Most RV facilities maintain winter operations despite the snowfall, though access roads require chains or four-wheel drive during storm periods.

What to do

Fishing activities: French Meadows Campground offers excellent trout fishing opportunities in the reservoir. One visitor noted, "Bear country be advised. Extreme fire danger the summer months and closed due to snow in winter," highlighting the seasonal considerations for anglers.

Access mountain trails: At Gold Ranch Casino & RV Resort, campers can take advantage of nearby hiking paths. A reviewer mentioned, "There is access to a hiking/mountain biking path, but I did not explore it since it had rained heavily the day we arrived, and it was muddy."

Water recreation: RV Village Campground At Camp Richardson Resort provides direct beach access for swimming and boating. A camper shared, "Close to the lake with water, electric, and limited sewer hookups... can't forget the 10 minute walk to the Beacon!"

What campers like

Clean facilities: Many RV parks maintain high cleanliness standards, particularly at Sparks Marina RV Park where reviews consistently mention this aspect. One camper stated, "Very clean and nice RV park. Pool, hot tub, game room and nice small shop. Sites have fake grass but it looks nice. Pads and streets are paved."

Family-friendly environments: RV parks with organized activities score well with families. At Tahoe Valley Campground, a visitor observed, "They put on a ton of events like karaoke nights, live music, and smores nights. Hot showers and well lit clean bathrooms."

Winter camping options: Surprisingly, several parks remain operational year-round. One camper at Tahoe Valley Campground shared, "We ended up camping in a truck camper at Tahoe Valley Campground after being caught in a snow storm... nothing beats making a fire in the snow and waking up to a couple of feet of white fluffiness!"

What you should know

Reservation timing: Summer months require advance planning, with many parks filling months ahead. A Tahoe Valley Campground reviewer cautioned, "Super busy campground with kids running around and riding bikes... Hard to find solitude or silence."

Age restrictions: Some facilities impose RV age limitations. At Silver City RV Resort, a visitor warned, "There is NO mention of an age restriction on their website... they WILL take the reservation online, take your money, then call to check the age of your rig."

Noise considerations: Highway proximity affects sound levels at several parks. A Silver City camper noted, "The only draw back to this park is the traffic noise. It was very loud at times but did die down in the evening."

Terrain variations: Campsite leveling can be challenging in wilderness areas. At French Meadows, a camper warned, "Two thirds of the campsites were on a slope with no where to setup a tent on level ground."

Tips for camping with families

Activity planning: Look for parks with structured entertainment. At Tahoe Valley Campground, a visitor noted, "One of the largest and nicest campground for RVers and Tent campers combined. Helpful staff, and park rangers on site. Activities planned each day."

Age restrictions on amenities: Verify facility policies before booking. At Sparks Marina RV Park, one camper shared their frustration: "My children and I could not enjoy the amenities. Kids must be 18 to enjoy the spa even if accompanied by adults, had a great club house with a pool table but kids must be 14 to play."

Off-season advantages: Consider winter visits for fewer crowds. A Carson RV Resort guest mentioned, "What I liked most about this place was that it is more spacious than typical RV parks. Also, more importantly, the bathrooms were amazing and deserving of the 'resort' name."

Tips from RVers

Check-in procedures: RV parks have varying registration processes. At Gold Dust West RV Park, a camper noted, "A pretty typical Casino RV park, pretty tight paved sites, mostly asphalt with a few trees. Bathroom and showers are adequate and clean. WiFi was variable worked most of the time."

Site spacing: Prepare for variable distances between sites. At Silver City RV Resort, a visitor reported, "Sites all have picnic tables but very little privacy or green space. Some road noise especially if your near the front of the park."

Resource limitations: Water availability may fluctuate seasonally. At French Meadows, a camper observed, "Water pumps were good in the locations where water was present, but due to lower water levels, the pumps on the higher grounds had no water; had to walk to the lowest pumps."
