Beautiful campground by the sea

Excellent beach access, nice flat sites. Watch the videos, words can’t express the beauty here.

Love this place

I was very surprised by this campground. It was very quiet, well maintained with clean bathrooms and showers. There is an added bonus for all self contained vehicles. Since there's a temporary bridge in place, they are allowing self contained vehicles (potty in your vehicle) to stay at the beach…

Nice but rude staff

Nice place to camp. Very pretty. Not sure why we( and only us) weren't allowed to us the plug in for our RV. Very rude staff who work there.

Gualala point

Great little campground with a trail that leads to a great beach. Some camp spot have views of the river. Protect your food the raccoons are sneaky.

Hidden Gem Near Mendocino

Having camped in quite a few places throughout California, there's very few campgrounds that equal that of Van Damme State Park. Let me count the high marks that this location features: oceanfront access, spartan clean restroom and shower facilities, well-organized grounds, close proximity to…

Hope someone sees this

I’ve been camping cross country for the last month with my husband. We’re from New York, and like to think we’re not easily rattled or intimidated. This was the first time on our trip that we were both scared.

The forest service website says this campground is not open for camping, just dirt bike…

Beautiful Area!

We were in a group site, which was nice and spacious. Had some tree coverage too which we were very grateful for because it was quite warm. Trees also were great for our hammocks! Downside was that due to extreme fire danger and fires in the area, we were allowed to have fires of any kind. Only…

We survived the road to Lake Pillsbury!

We were so happy we were able to snag a few spots here on July 4th weekend 2020! We had never been to the area and were nervous that the sites were only first come, first serve. We downloaded our map just in case we lost service, and we were so happy we did. We lost service and started down the…

Horse Camp

We stopped here on our way home to take some pictures to share with our fellow Dyrt members!

There are hitching post and water troughs, but I didn’t see any corrals. The sites were nice size, and a couple backed up to each other, making a good group site.

Great Bass Lake!!

This lake is amazing for Bass fishing!! There are only a few sites on the water, definitely get there early. All First come, first serve. We seen the sheriff patrol at least once a day here. There are vault toilets and drinking water. Firewood was available everywhere for free, some split, some…

Three perfect days at the coast

Got there on a Monday morning. The grounds were mostly empty So it was very easy to claim a spot. We stayed until Wednesday afternoon. A few people came, a few people left in that time but, Everyone we ran into was very friendly. It’s dry camping so no running water or flushing toilets but if what…

True Dispersed Camping

My wife and I were going to camp here but she was a little spooked by the amount of bears we saw on the trail to the campsite. This area was also decimated by wild fire recently and a large percentage of the forest is charred. We ended up passing this site up, but it looks like it is a cool spot.…

Great views

Really beautiful campground that is first come, first served. The drive to it is pretty as well. The sites are all out in the open so it can get really windy and you can hear your neighbors if they are loud. The Dyrt’s info is all wrong also: there are no hookups of any kind, no WiFi, very little…
