Best Cabin Camping near Cazadero, CA

Cabin accommodations near Cazadero provide rustic to modern lodging options along the Russian River area. Several campgrounds offer cabin rentals with varying levels of amenities, including AutoCamp Russian River with its unique Airstream trailers used as stationary cabins. Casini Ranch Family Campground features cabins with electricity, picnic tables, and access to shared shower facilities. Porto Bodega Marina & RV Park and Johnson's Beach also maintain cabin units. Most properties include basic furnishings, though amenities vary widely between locations. A recent review noted that "AutoCamp Russian River has an impressive selection of well stocked accommodations" with convenient access to the Russian River.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. KOA-style cabins can be found at Cloverdale/Healdsburg Campground and San Francisco North-Petaluma KOA, offering standardized amenities typical of the KOA network. Reservation requirements vary by property, with most cabins bookable online. Many locations welcome pets with restrictions, though some AutoCamp units are specifically designated as not dog-friendly. Peak season availability can be limited, particularly for waterfront units. As one visitor mentioned, "We landed a beautiful water front site with hook ups. Friendly people and clean park!"

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Kitchen facilities range from minimal to well-equipped, with many cabins offering small refrigerators and microwaves. Several campgrounds maintain on-site stores for basic provisions, with Casini Ranch and the KOA locations featuring well-stocked markets. Proximity to Guerneville provides additional shopping options for groceries and supplies. Firewood is commonly sold on-site at properties that permit campfires, though fire restrictions may apply seasonally based on California wildfire conditions.

Samuel P. Taylor State Park Campground

    Quaint

I loved the quaint feel of our campsite. The only downside was that the main road runs alongside the grounds. Our site was small but my eyes were pleased by how it looked. Site had a fire ring, picnic table, and a stone grill. The grounds had running water, flush toilets and quarter showers.

Camped here at night and explored point reyes during the day.

    Narrows Lodge Resort

    Quiet, fun, relaxing

We rented a camping yurt and we were so surprised how big it is! We received a key to our own bathroom and shower! They had a sink to was dishes in and a place to clean our fish. We rented a motor boat for a few hours to explore the beautiful lake.  Pet friendly. Great little beach. A dock to fish from. Everything you need to have a great time! They also have bigger yurts and cabins to rent. Also, RV parking .We have already booked another visit.

    San Francisco North-Petaluma KOA

    Great camp for the kids

This KOA is pretty big with plenty of options for RV sites. Wide variety of full hook-ups or partial hook-ups. Like most (if not all) KOAs, you can also tent camp or tent cabins. Good size dog park for the pets to run and be free, as well as plenty of fun activities to entertain the kiddos. For us, this is a great spot to shoot down the highway and pull in for a few days to get away from the hustle and bustle of normal life! Close to downtown Petaluma with plenty of premium shops and restaurants.

Samuel P. Taylor State Park Campground

    Crowded, but beautiful!

This campground is beautiful, set in the redwoods, with a creek and nature trails. It has all the amenities: flush toilets, showers, fire pits, running water, and grills. The only drawback is the sites are small and close together, affording very little privacy. The campground can be pretty loud at night too. If you're looking for peace, quiet, and seclusion, this might not be the campground for you. We really enjoyed it though because we have a three year old, and with all the other noise in the campground, I didn't have to feel bad when she was being loud. Also, watch out for the raccoons! They stole my bread that I stupidly left out, and then tried to get into our ice chest. There are lockers provided at each campsite. Use them!

Samuel P. Taylor State Park Campground

Nice shady retreat in beautiful redwoods.

We have previously tent camped and car camped here and we really enjoy it. It can get warm in the summer, but the cool moist ocean fog comes in and blankets the area in the evenings, which can really cool it down. On our first visit, there was no running water or showers, but they did have portapotties. On our second visit, water was available, but it was not potable, and the showers and toilets were still not working. Not sure if that is a Covid related issue or a temporary maintenance issue. It’s worth a drive through prior to staying, in order to find a site that fits your needs, they have many different sized sites available, and we like the sites in the high teens (18 & 19), as they seem a bit larger and are right along the creek. The sites appear to be your standard state park equipment with a fire pit, a picnic table and a lockable pantry. The parking area for our site was large enough to accommodate our SUV and another vehicle. There is firewood generally available with the camp host or at the gate. Good cell signal with Verizon. Because of the amazing redwood canopy, it might be hard to get good sun for solar in most of the sites. There are all kinds of trails available, as well as a paved path that runs for at least a mile or so along the creek, that used to be the old railroad line through that area. They have informational signs all over the place providing historical or ecological information. Access to the creek is seasonally restricted for spawning, and I believe that goes from spring to about mid June or July. Also, lots of poison oak in the unmaintained areas and off the trails, so be aware.

    Group site

The group site was spacious and had a wate spigot, two fire rings, two grills and three picnic tables. There was room for two vehicles and is right next to a bathroom with quarter showers. It's a large campground in a beautiful park. Didn't hike but enjoyed road biking around.

    Safe sound and beautiful

Senior camping at it's best. A heated cabin and pad on bed that was comfortable. Got showers and a family vibe. Great location for scouting Mendocino coastline and Pt Arena. No wifi though so don't bring work.

Highway noise: Some cabin locations experience traffic sounds. Beverly W. cautions about River Bend Resort, "And the traffic noise is considerable."

Pet restrictions: Not all cabins allow pets, especially in waterfront units. Todd W. shares about Porto Bodega Marina & RV Park, "This is a favorite for us. The park is clean, sites are average in size. Not much separation between sites, some bushes, but basically a gravel parking lot. A variety of site types, including many on the water."

Waterfront premium: Waterfront cabins cost significantly more. Khang N. advises about Porto Bodega, "Cost was $50/night and there is a $10 registration fee. We checked in on a Wednesday night in October and there was a lot of sites open."

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly activities: Several locations offer organized children's programs. Dustin C. says about Casini Ranch, "Spent the weekend with family (10 kids, 6 adults) at Casini Ranch for a couple birthdays. Tips from RVers

According to Filipino Jack T., "If you wanna rv and craving crab, chowder, and oysters this is the spot for you, full hook up, fire pit, and picnic table walking distance to a restaurant and shops great views very relaxing."

Walkable amenities: Many RV cabin locations provide walking access to restaurants. Chris C. notes, "My wife and I spent two days there, full hook-up with cable TV decent TV reception too. Cell worked well. Close to restaurants and grocery."

Noise considerations: Some cabin campsites experience noise issues.
