Small but welcome

This KOA is cozy, with small sites, no pool, no frills. The shower rooms are big and in good shape. The beach and marina are easy walks from the park. You can hear sea gulls and sea lions at your site. What a charming location! Well worth it if you want to be near Monterey-Carmel.

Smallish facility

Since the office was closed, I was unable to ask any questions and get a real time answer. Bummer. I got back on the road.

SiteI did not stay.

Pricey, but nice:)

Great little campground. Not very big, full hookup, laundry, bathrooms okay.

Free bike locks to borrow. Recommend locking bikes up.

Close walk over bridge to beach. We love The Whole Enchilada restaurant you can walk to!

Bikes to beach and it was cold and windy, but nice and clean, big waves, and we saw sealions out playing:)

Right beside KOA are whale watching tours!

Sites are small, but considering the size of the entire campground, they were big enough.

Pricey to stay here.

Does not allow roof top tents!

Went to check in and they wouldn’t let us stay. Apparently they do not allow RTTs in this camp ground. This was our first time with KOA. They have them everywhere so thought it would be worth a try. Guess those aren’t our type of campground.

SiteDidn’t get to camp..

Great RV park near Salinas Beach

Moss Landing RV park is a small, tight park close to Salinas Beach. Lots of great food close by. Cell and WiFi have been ok to good this past week, with a couple nights not being able to connect or stay connected. 20-30 drive to downtown Santa Cruz or downtown Monterey. Lots of trails, hiking, kayaking available. One of our favorite RV parks while traveling in this area.

KOA Moss Landing

The two ladies than ran the camp were amazing. After renting space the walked down and help guide us in and arrange. The area was very well kept and extremely clean. Noise level was very, very low. Laundry area and showers were super clean. Great place to stay while traveling HWY 1.

Fantastic Location

This KOA is located as close to the water as you can get. It literally shares a wall with the boat docks and boat dock parking. You can see the sandy beach across the street.

You are minutes from launch points for both power or paddle sports. If you want a site seeing tour, they take off from the parking lot next to the KOA.

The Santa Cruz Boardwalk is 30 minutes to the North. Monterey Bay is 30 minutes to the South. There are lots of places to explore in between each.

There are multiple restaurants within walking distance. There were always lots of people waiting to be seated, so I’m guessing they are the place to go. One block away is a huge farmers market with fantastic prices.

The sites are super deep, all are 50’ in depth. There are lots of super rigs that are pushing the 50’ they have available. Each sites has a picnic table, grass between the sites, and beautiful landscaping. They offer all the amenities you could need.

The staff is amazing. They were able to get us in early and sent someone over to help guide us into our site.

Cons:

  • Every site is a back in site.
  • The park is tightly packed.

Great Location Small Sites

Moss Landing KOA Express is a small campground for fully contained RV's. Very clean but sites are small and meant to be a stop over or a place to sleep while enjoying the area. Moss Landing is a must not miss area. Lots to do. Don't miss exploring the Elkhorn Slew. Kayaking or take a guided tour by experienced guid. See Sea Otters and tons of birds. Great restaurants within walking distance.

Nice small spot

Overall this place was nice, very clean and friendly staff. However the spots are Small! Our 40’ double expando barely fit and you had to go into the neighboring sites just to access your hook ups etc. Waste hook up is inches from our picnic table.

There are no real amenities at this park and it holds less then 50 campers. This is a fine stop over for a night, but no place to stay for long.

It’s close to the harbor, and the beach.

Nice little spot in walking distance to restaurants

Level, concrete pads. Spacing is tight. We had an end space with a nice patch of grass. Small space to walk dogs.

Campground is directly adjacent to the parking lot and marina from which multiple boats sail for whale watching trips. You can also rent kayaks nearby to kayak in the calm waters where you will almost certainly see sea otters.

Easy in and out, but tight turns if you have a big rig. Our 30’ class C had no troubles and there were a lot of much larger trailers and class A’s so maybe tight but definitely doable.

You can easily walk to Phil’s, but expect very long lines. They were not allowing dogs even in outdoor seating area.

It was very quiet at night, but very loud during the day. Everyone there was very friendly. Very nice and helpful people running the office.

I would definitely stay here again, especially if going whale watching or kayaking with the sea otters.
