Harris Ranch sits directly off Interstate 5 in Coalinga, California, functioning as an overnight parking area for travelers rather than a traditional campground. RVs and vehicles park in a designated dirt lot between the airstrip and Tesla charging stations, with campers finding level spots for dry camping. The location operates as part of the larger Harris Ranch complex, which includes a restaurant, hotel, and market.

Security personnel patrol the area and generally allow overnight parking. Morning activity picks up around 7-8am as employees arrive for work shifts. The Almond Tree Oasis RV Park provides a more traditional RV experience with full hookups for those preferring developed amenities.

Campers appreciate this convenient I-5 stopover for its safe overnight parking between the restaurant and hotel. Multiple visitors noted the quiet atmosphere and security presence, though one review mentioned designated dry camping has moved to a dirt lot area.

No longer free

We have loved our trips passing thru, having a very nice dinner, spending the night, and maybe breakfast in the other restaurant in the past, but note for others, no more free lunch. The dry camping fee is now $49. You do get access to resort amenities if you can stay a bit, but as a quick stopover, it adds to an already hefty restaurant bill.

Large dry camping lot

They now want the dry campers on a large dirt lot between the airstrip and the Tesla chargers. Found a nice level spot and spent a quiet overnight. They have a BBQ place and market if you don’t want to go to the restaurant.

Easy nice Overnight Parking

We stopped here on our way to Laguna Beach from San Fransisco area. It was right off I-5. We parked between the restaurant and the hotel. There was a security truck that was sitting there and at first, I thought they'd tell us we couldn't park, but he just gave us a wave and we parked right next to him. Was quiet till around 7-8am when morning shift folks started pulling in to start work.

Just make sure not to buy gas at the station next door, was absolute highway robbery, so we drove a further down and stopped for gas.

Nice, safe overnight parking

Spent one night here on our way through California. Parked between the restaurant and the hotel and there were many other RVs here for the night. A great, free place to stay and felt totally safe.
