Reaching Bobcat Meadow requires navigating a narrow, winding road that becomes one lane in stretches. Campers in a 26-foot Class C have made it through, but there is a notable dip in the road that demands a very slow approach, and anything larger risks scraping. The campground sits in open terrain within Cleveland National Forest, with 18 sites spread across the area. None of the sites are level, and only site 12 has a picnic table, so bring your own.
The campground draws a steady stream of OHV riders, with dirt bike and ATV traffic audible during the day and into the evening on nearby trails. Nights tend to quiet down considerably once the day-use visitors clear out. Rangers check in regularly, and the vault toilets are consistently reported as clean and stocked, with trash and recycling bins available on site. Cell service is reliable here, which is worth noting for anyone planning to work remotely or stay connected. No pets are allowed.
Fees apply unless you hold an America the Beautiful pass. Visitors without one are directed to purchase a daily pass at a local store before entering, so plan accordingly. Lake Morena County Park is another option in the area for those who want proximity to water. "ATVs were kind of noisy, but otherwise campground is completely quiet," notes Laura M., which captures the trade-off well. Campers who want access to camping near Cleveland National Forest with OHV access and minimal crowds on weeknights will find Bobcat Meadow worth the drive.
