Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Greenbrier, AR

Woolly Hollow State Park provides multiple pet-friendly camping options across tent, RV, and glamping accommodations just minutes from Greenbrier. Dogs must be leashed in common areas but are welcome throughout the campground with proper waste disposal. The park features electric hookups, water access, and shaded sites suitable for pets, with picnic tables at each location allowing families to eat alongside their animals. Nearby Toad Suck Park also accepts pets with similar leash requirements but offers a more open camping environment with plenty of green areas for throwing frisbees or playing with pets. Both locations maintain clean facilities with regularly serviced restrooms, though pet owners should bring their own waste bags as dedicated pet stations are limited. Campgrounds near Greenbrier, Arkansas are listed with photos on The Dyrt.

Trail access varies between locations, with the most pet-accessible paths found at Petit Jean State Park, approximately 40 minutes from Greenbrier. The park offers multiple camping styles including tent sites, RV hookups, and pet-friendly yurts with nearby hiking suitable for dogs of various abilities. The campground provides multiple areas to explore with young children and pets, including lakefront access where dogs can cool off during summer months. Mosquitoes can be problematic near water features, particularly at riverside locations like Toad Suck Ferry Park, so pet owners should pack appropriate repellent for themselves and pet-safe alternatives for their animals. Most campgrounds maintain quiet hours that apply to barking dogs, and site selection matters—choosing locations away from main roads reduces traffic noise that might trigger anxious pets.

    Little Rock North KOA

Only 1 Tent Site on the property !

It was great. I have the only tent site they offer. It’s away from the RV area. The couple that runs the KOA are super friendly. There is a pool but not open for some reason. Small dog park. Camp store. Clean. And an ice cream shop! The only drawback is it’s close to the freeway and you can hear a LOT of traffic.

    Great place to stay!

Very friendly campground. Many amenities including laundry, bathhouse, very nice showers, and large dog park. We really enjoyed the fishing ponds as well. The owners could not have been nicer and more helpful. Would recommend this place to anyone.

    Outdoor Living Center RV Park

Cool place on some hot days

Spent three nights. Called for reservations, very receptive owners no problems getting in. I was running late due to the distance. They called to check on us and left instructions in a box at the office with site number, WiFi, bath codes. Again very nice owners. Went in the next morning to settle bill. Office is stocked with a nice assortment of things that an RV owner might need for minor repairs. Camp site was pretty level, spacing is typical for a campsite built some years ago, but we had a site on the end so we didn’t feel too close to anyone. Owners have only had the campground for two years. Was told the water connections were their next priority. Connections are a little inconvenient due to being under ground level, but no problem connecting my water filter for my 5th wheel. Dog park was a short walk away, was clean. Campground was clean, dumpsters accessible for trash and area clean around them. We would be happy to stay there again.

    Long Pool Recreation Area

    Swimming hole perfection

Tent campers have the better camping loop at this campground, closer to the water, nicer sites, most with plenty of trees for shade. You can drive up to the less attractive and less conveniently located RV loop to use the showers, if you need them. Some campsites are just a football-field distance from the rocky swim beach, while others sit either nestled in the woods or overlooking the creek from above on a small bluff. The big draw is the charming swimming area with its imposing trio of rocks that swimmers love to jump off of. Pets are not permitted around or in the water, so we prefer to leave our dog at home when visiting here. Hiking from the campground is terrific, too, particularly when the water is flowing to make waterfalls. Long Pool is a must-visit camping destination for Arkansas residents.

    Downtown Riverside RV Park

    Unique RV Experience

At first entrance it appears as if you are entering a large parking lot. There is a large pavilion to picnic and pet area by the water. Each site requires a 50 amp but the office will offer one for purchase if you need a 50 to 30 amp connections. The center lot is for pull through sites the other site areas non-pull through by water and fence. The fence area is close to the bridge but could be limited with views since it is far away from the water and Class A frequent area.

    Two things I love:

    1. The unique downtown riverside views
    2. The ease of getting to this RV park even though it is downtown Little Rock.

    Morrilton RV Park

    next to interstate

We drove through looking for a place to stay. It was a very nice park with full hook-ups.cabins, Very clean and well kept. It's pet friendly and accommodates larger RVs. It pretty much has everything. Looked really great except it is right next to I40. LOTS of noise so we decided to move on.

Guide to Greenbrier

Dispersed camping sites near Greenbrier, Arkansas provide access to several lakes and rivers within a 40-minute drive radius. Located at approximately 450 feet elevation in the northern part of central Arkansas, this area sees hot, humid summers with temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F and mild winters with occasional freezing conditions. Camping options range from basic sites with minimal facilities to developed campgrounds with full amenities.

What to Do

Fishing opportunities: The Little Red River at John F Kennedy offers excellent trout fishing conditions. "I tent camped at Site #3, right beside the lake. Put my hammock up and watched the sun set and the fireflies start dancing. A few ducks played on the edge of the water and walked on shore for a bit," reports Amy W. from Woolly Hollow State Park.

Water recreation: Lake Conway at Camp Robinson provides kayaking and paddling options during summer months. "Great spot to pitch a tent by lake Conway. Isolated but not too far out," notes Rylie R. The lake level varies seasonally.

Hiking trails: Multiple difficulty levels available, particularly at Petit Jean State Park. "This park has so much going for it. It is clean, small, handicap accessible...great hiking with short and long options, a pour-off waterfall during the wet season when the lake is high, biking options," explains Amy W.

Nature programs: Seasonal educational events occur regularly. "The state park ranger had a weekend full of planned events from a box turtle demo to a sand castle competition. The best part was the guided hike with Master Naturalist group of AR," shares Kelci C.

What Campers Like

Artesian springs: Natural water features enhance camping experiences. "There is a marked Artesian Spring right at the turn to this loop before Site #1. The sound of it is so relaxing," mentions Kathy E. about Woolly Hollow State Park.

Site privacy: Spacing between campsites varies significantly by campground. "We got lucky with our spot, only 1 direct neighbor. Beautiful view of the Arkansas River," notes Ursula from Maumelle Park.

Water views: Many sites offer direct lake or river access. "Our favorite trip we stayed in site #1 that was a pull through site with a water view," shares Kathy E., while another camper at Toad Suck Ferry reports, "Brand new site. Lots of shade, easy back-in, and perfectly level. Great view of the river."

Wildlife viewing: Bird watching and animal sightings common. "Camp Conway is quiet with excellent bird-watching. Must have seen 12 bird varieties thriving in the park," reports Burt.

What You Should Know

Weather considerations: Summer heat requires preparation. "It is warm here but many still use their fire pits creating lots of smoke. We had to close our windows to avoid that," notes a camper at Maumelle Park.

Site conditions: Some campgrounds have uneven terrain. "Many sites are unlevel and require significant leveling chocks to get it truly level," warns Ryan S. about Petit Jean's B loop.

Water level fluctuations: Dam releases and seasonal changes affect activities. "When the dam releases water, the river rises a lot. I'm talking a good 5 feet. Which can make it difficult to fish or enjoy the river," cautions Lindsay H.
