      Whitewater RV Park

      No frills Downhome

Mountain View is a great small town in the Arkansas Ozarks. This is not the place to come if you have to be entertained but can make your own fun or settle back and relax. Whitewater RV Park sounds exciting, high speed but no. Time to kickback, read a book, head to the square and listen to the ozark mountain music they are famous for. You can find all kinds of things to do and a place to stay is at Whitewater RV Park on a quiet town street not that far off from the court square. Free WiFi and if you pay extra you can get high speed wireless. Cable tv, pull through sites, dump station, full hook ups, laundry, shower house, flush toilets. This park has mature trees with lots of shade. It is located walking distance from the courthouse which is in the middle of the square. Granted it is UP the hill but it makes for a nice walk. In the square during the season you will often find locals and visitors picking and singing. It is a treat and free for the enjoyment. Mountain View also has one of the few remaining Drive In movie theaters. Check this place out for the weekly and monthly rates. Stay six nights and get seventh one free. For a small town Mountain View has so much to offer it’s guests. It brings our minds to days gone be. Weekends will find pickers on the square or concerts at Ozark Folk Center. Few campgrounds have pools but you can find a creek to dip your toes in. You have your choice of stand up paddle board canoe kayak Loco Ropes mountain biking hiking antiquing movie’s trail rides fishing I think you have the idea. MOVIES. Mountain View has a movie theater and one of the few drive in theaters left in th USA. Both offer first run movies.
Have fun. Leave No Trace. Better than you found it.

      Blue Sky RV Park

      Great Spot

This place is so much bigger than it looks. Great pull through sites. Great sites for family camping. It is located not far from town on a busy highway Highway 5 but once you pull off the road you would never know. Very shaded and mature trees. Owner has tried to think of everything but you will not find a swimming pool There are several outside family games and the local area is Loaded with fun things to do. Blue Sky even has event space that you can rent if you are staying in the park. 30 and 50 amp service cable TV available, free WiFi high speed with additional charge. Weekly and monthly rates available and check out the seventh night free. White River is not far, bring a boat or rent one. Trout fishing is great. Your options are open in this small community.  Get ready because Arkansas has ticks, chiggers, and humidity.

Mountain View RV Park and Guest Motel

Good Things Come In Small Packages

I have driven by this campground numerous times not paying a lot of attention. Today I paid attention and realized I have made a mistake. There is a high fence that assist in keep this corner of Mountain View private. An oasis for anyone that wishes to venture in. A traveler will find a welcome smile and an amazing view. They will also find a well maintained campground and a motel. The campground offers concrete pads or gravel, 30 and 50 amp service, full hook ups, cable tv, wi-fi, high speed for extra fee, coin operated laundry, community fire pit with wood provided, dog friendly, showers and toilets and more. The motel offers all the amenities you would expect to find in a branded hotel/motel. There are eight motel rooms and two cabins available for rent. Both the campground and motel have access to two recreation rooms. Both have full kitchens, tv, stereo, dining tables and chairs. One recreation room has limited exercise equipment. There is 1.5 acres of green space that is also available for all guest. The view from the green space is worth dreaming over that morning cup of coffee. There are things you will not find in many campgrounds in Mountain View. Much of the entertainment in this area will be of a natural source. Weekends will find pickers on the square or concerts at the Ozark Folk Center. If you want to take a dip look to the creeks or the river. Stand up paddle boarding, canoe, kayak, Loco Ropes, mountain bike trails, hiking, antiquing, trail rides, fishing and I’m sure you get the idea. Movies. There is a movie theatre and the cherry on top is a drive in movie. Mountain View Drive In is one of only a few left in the US. You will find first run movies at both.

      Red River RV Park

      Nice clean, small RV park

Nice clean, small RV park at Highway 67/167 and CW Road in Judsonia, one exit north of the Searcy Race Street exit. 30 spaces total with 3 pull through sites. No internet or laundry on-site but the electrical set up is good. Water and sewer are in good locations but the water connection box was holding water during our stay. Daily, weekly, or monthly rates available. My Verizon LTE hotspot averaged between 5 and 10 Mbps down and 0.8 to 1.6 up. My Verizon 5g phone averaged 75 to 85 Mbps down and 28 to 35 Mbps up. One of my neighbors was on a T-mobile 5g hotspot and was consistently over 50 Mbps download.

      Dam Site Campground

      Very nice and clean

We stayed 3 nights over a weekend in early September. We had a pull through site in loop N that was perfect for our 41’ fifth wheel...plenty big, clean, and level. It was a little sunny, but other than that no complaints. The other loops were more wooded, but wouldn’t be good for big rigs. We will definitely come again.

      Dam - Quarry

      Clean campground, nice location

Average space between sites. Level paved sites with gravel picnic area including picnic table, fire ring, lantern hanger. Some sites had covered picnic area. Limited shade, most sites don’t have trees. Good access to sites. Clean and private bathrooms. Each room had its own lockable bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. Garbage cans were outside of bathrooms, as well as dumpsters near the registration building. Friendly staff upon check in. Campground was patrolled regularly. No laundry or recycling. Nearby road with little road noise. Verizon cell signal was excellent. There is a dump station and potable fill station. No store or food for purchase on site. No hiking in campground, but multiple trails nearby. Boat ramp at campground and lots of wading fly fishing in river. Fish hatchery across from campground.

      Sylamore Creek Camp

      Great site!

We love this campground. We love having direct access to creek. It is kayak, family, pet friendly. The only thing it is lacking is internet connection, which for us is a plus for disconnecting. All sites are reasonably level. Site F is the premium and most secluded full hook up site. They have all levels of sites: primitive, water and electric, or full. Their small store has firewood and many other convenient items for sale. We take our own kayaks, but they do have rentals. They have public showers and restrooms, but the restrooms are currently closed due to renovations. It’s really one of our favorite local sites to camp.

Greers Ferry Dam Site is one of several around the lake created by the Greers Ferry Dam which created the 40,000 acre lake.  The dam was dedicated by John F Kennedy one month prior to his death.

Be aware that many of the sites might be hard to back into or hard to level your rig.  The area is thickly wooded and that might make it difficult.  There are a lot of large moss covered rocks that help to set the scene for  wooded wonderland for tents and smaller rigs.  Check your site before parking this park like many of the Corp of Engineer parks are older and built with tent and small RV's in mind.  It is a beautiful site and in Arkansas you must try the fishing

Directions:  3 miles northeast of Heber Springs, AR by way of SR 25 Bypass.

Choctaw is located several miles outside the town of Clinton Arkansas.  I would advise stocking up before leaving home or in Clinton.  Located in the gently rolling hills of the Ozarks.  The roads are in good shape but like most roads in Arkansas they could be considered, not narrow, but not exactly wide.  The campground is located right off the road so watch for your turn.  Choctaw is one of the few parks in the Greers Ferry complex that is right off the main road.

The site numbers are well marked on the entrance of each site.  Some sites are more level than others and some are shorter than others.  Longer rigs will have to pay close attention to the size of the sites.  Area is well wooded giving a large amount of shade and a lot of needles and leaves.  If you don't carry a good broom you might want one to sweep your pad.  Trees are mainly pine so shade will continue through winter.  While we were there it was time for mowing but generally COE parks are well maintained

Little Red River and the Greers Ferry Lake produce an amazing outdoor experience.  Sitting all along the banks of Greers Ferry Lake you are able to have your pick of any number of COE campgrounds and private campgrounds.  Choctaw is a good example.

Arkansas is called "The Natural State" and it does live up to its name.  Greers Ferry is located in Cleburne County Arkansas with several small towns dotted around the lake.  There are between 30,000 to 40,000 acres of crystal clear water depending on the season and the rains.  You may fish, scuba dive, water ski, SUP, kayak, canoe, swim or just relax at your campsite.  Your choice but is geared toward the outdoor life.

Fishing is the sport of the day here.  You will find some of "The Best" fishing in the south with some bragging "In The World".  The lake holds the record for bass at 27 lbs 50 oz.  Tournaments begin in April and go through October.  Whether you are a local or a visitor fishing is done year round.  Every game fish native to Arkansas is stocked and maintained by the Arkansas Game and Fish.  Depending on the time of the year you are able to look forward to trophy size striped bass, walleye, and trout.  That is not to say you shouldn't hook your share of channel catfish, bigmouth and white bass and crappie.

      Have fun.  Stay safe.

    Guide to Batesville

RV camping options near Batesville, Arkansas span across several small towns within a 30-mile radius. The terrain features rolling hills and limestone formations typical of the Ozark foothills, with elevations ranging from 300 to 800 feet above sea level. Summer humidity levels regularly exceed 85% between June and August, requiring proper ventilation for tent campers and adequate air conditioning for RV travelers.

    What to do

Creek access: Red River RV Park in Judsonia features a small waterway suitable for wading during summer months. "Great place to stay with everyone there at the time very friendly and the owners were friendly and helpful," notes camper Dennis S., who stayed for three days.

Folk music events: Mountain View hosts regular gatherings of local musicians, particularly during spring and fall. Whitewater RV Park positions visitors close to these cultural events. "The town square is only 1/4 mile away. A nice park for walking is next door," writes Wolfgang M., who visited during Memorial Day weekend.

Drive-in movies: One of Arkansas' few remaining drive-in theaters operates in Mountain View, showing first-run films. "Mountain View has a movie theater and one of the few remaining Drive In movie theaters. Check this place out for the weekly and monthly rates," mentions a visitor at Whitewater RV Park.

    What campers like

Spacious sites: Blue Sky RV Park provides well-spaced camping spots with adequate room for larger vehicles. "Our site was very long. It was nice to be able to unhook and have plenty of room for the 5th wheel and truck," reports Caroline S. who appreciated the site dimensions.

Tree maintenance: Campers frequently mention tree management at several parks. "Nice clean park with lots of tall trees that are well trimmed above RVs," writes Wayne P. about Blue Sky RV Park, noting the balance between shade and clearance.

Concrete pads: Level surfaces make setup easier at several facilities. "RV sites are level, have concrete pad and tables," mentions one visitor about Whitewater RV Park, which maintains improved site surfaces rather than standard gravel pads.

    What you should know

Seasonal closures: Many parks in the Mountain View area close during winter months. Mountain View RV Park and Guest Motel operates from "March 1 to December 1," while Whitewater RV Park runs from "March 15 to first week of November."

Variable cell service: Internet connectivity fluctuates significantly between locations. One camper reported, "My Verizon LTE hotspot averaged between 5 and 10 Mbps down and 0.8 to 1.6 up. My Verizon 5g phone averaged 75 to 85 Mbps down."

Limited facilities: Some rv sites near Batesville, Arkansas operate without full amenities. As Aniko S. noted at one location, "Unfortunately, there is no restroom or shower available in the park," making self-contained RVs necessary at certain venues.

    Tips for camping with families

Recreation rooms: Crown Lake RV Resort offers indoor gathering spaces for groups. "This campground was designed perfectly with family and couples in mind. The amenities they have are beyond belief," reports Leslie D., who found the facilities particularly suitable for multi-generational stays.
