Jacksonport State Park Campground

Within Jacksonport State Park, this Arkansas State Parks campground sits along the White River with just 20 sites spread across well-maintained grounds. The compact layout keeps campers close to river access while providing spacious, level sites with full hookups for RVs up to 42 feet.

About half the sites back directly up to the White River, offering immediate water access for fishing, boating, or cooling off at the swimming beach. The park includes a boat launch and visitor center with historical exhibits about the area's steamboat era. Sites feature grass and mature trees, though satellite TV reception can be challenging due to overhead coverage. Cell service runs strong with AT&T providing reliable coverage throughout the campground.

"Small very tidy and spacious campground," notes Francis W., highlighting the clean facilities that include hot showers and restrooms. The grounds drain well after rain, though temporary puddles may form in low spots. RV access requires careful navigation, as GPS routing can direct drivers down narrow roads unsuitable for larger rigs.

Very nice, small campground

This a very small campsite, only 20 sites I believe, but he sites are quite large and level. About half the sites back up to the White River.

The campsite is somewhat off the beaten path, and there isn't necessarily a ton to do in the area, but if you're looking for quiet, and low-key stop, this is the place.

The grounds are very well maintained, about half the sites back up to the White River, and there is a very nice beach/swimming area as well as a boat launch. Added bonus, the bathrooms were incredibly clean!

The visitor's center is a must see. Lots of great exhibits detailing the history of the area.

Newport is about 15 minutes away and provides a variety of shopping and dining options. If you find yourself over that way I highly recommend stopping at Blue Bridge Brews and Bakery (tons of great coffee and pastry options).

Nice, small state park and campground on the river

The campground is nice and well maintained and sites are fairly well spaced with lots of grass, trees and open areas. The park staff were very friendly and helpful. We were in site 4 for 3 days. All of the sites looked quite level. There are quite a few depressions around the campground that filled with water when it rained, but the water tended to drain within a day or so. AT&T coverage was surprisingly good here, generally between 2-4 Bars of 5Ge service, with speeds up to 8 MB/s. There is no WiFi or cable hookup here. We were not able to get DISH satellite coverage at our site with our roof mounted dish due to the large trees around, though some sites would likely have coverage. We were also unable find any OTA DTV channels with our omni antenna.

Our RV Friendly GPS app did try to route us down a narrow gravel road to get here and also showed a section of road in the park that doesn’t exist. Even Google Maps routes you onto Redman St, which from the North, is a tight turn onto a narrow road and not one I wanted to make in our 36’ Class A with a toad. I would recommend coming into Jacksonport off of AR Hwy 69 and onto Avenue St, which is also a tight turn from the North, but the street is much wider, and is what we ended up doing- much more RV friendly.

Arkansas Gem

Jacksonport has grown since we tent camped here years ago. Great new Visitors Center, still love the museum (it is closed right now because of COVID), the beach is pretty, but we miss the old Paddlewheel. Nice level sites and shaded.
