Close to Town, Lots of Space

Managed by Lower Sonoran BLM Field Office

Very quiet so much glass and old rusted tin cans, possibly from when mining was active here. Lots and lots of shards of broken glass, it’s part of the landscape almost.  There are open mine pits, some fenced off, some not so be careful especially if you let your pets run free. Constant sound of planes overhead from the nearby AFB, with occasional low flying jets. Overall a nice place if you can get past all the broken glass, some areas worse than others.

Not too many chollas but there are some road in. Alley Rd was flat and level, some washboarding, ok for any rig just take it slow. Coming off of Alley Rd to pull out spots could be tricky for bigger rigs. There were a few nice looking spots that we didn’t attempt in our 26ft Class C because the road up was too steep.  Deep dip on Alley Rd coming in, about 1.8 miles from where the paved road ends, we scraped our bike hitch both coming and going. At around 32.355867,-112.884902. Any rigs longer than about 26ft probably can’t make it further in than this spot if coming in from the north, or you can enter from the other side of the loop and come in that way.

Good verizon 4bars on 4GLTE, ATT had 2-3 bars on 3G, very slow.

Great dispersed camping. The farther from the highway, the better it gets.

Good stay

This is an extremely well-maintained park. Campsites are nice sized and well spaced with some shrubs and trees. Bathrooms and showers were spotless. Beautiful pool. Management is very accommodating and efficient. Covid safe.
I am not sure why it was listed within Good Sam but we were unable to get a good Sam discount. 47.50 is a bit more than we are used to paying as full time traveling RVers.

Cool Petroglyphs

Spent the night here on Dec. 20, 2020. Nice basic BLM camp ground. Clean pit toilets, but only two of them for the 60 camp sites. Mostly level sites, all gravel. Tables and fire ring at every site. Cool pile of rocks with Petroglyphs. Lots of history and nice informative displays. No services as far as water, power or dump station. Nice sunsets, and trails to hike. Bring your own water.

Nice Area

Just visiting/passing through. Nice view nearby of the copper mine. The town of Ajo is very much worth a visit. Also make sure to visit the Ajo Museum.

Great winter spot

Great people and great staff very well kept would return

Very nice spread out park to relax for the night

We stayed here one night and would recommend it for anyone wanting to enjoy the night skies, having some distance between RV pull in's, and relax while driving cross country.

The staff was welcoming and showed us to our sites and ensured we hooked up with no issues.  Then, let us enjoy the night.

The dog run was great and well maintained.  We thought he pet rock cemetery was touching (passed on pets have rocks with their names on them laid out in a small memorial).

We had a pull through full hook up site.  The site was required minor leveling, but no need to unhook. Wifi worked great.  There was road and rail noise though.

We are not sure if there are really any local attractions.

Good RV park to stay

It was good to have such a friendly staff greeting the guest. The RV park was clean and very convenient for a one night stay since it was very close to the freeway, yet not too noisy. The nightly charge was inexpensive.

Great spot

There are lots of places to camp here. I spent one night along Palm Canyon Road, where there were plenty of pull outs. There's also many spots up by Crystal Hill. Both places were easily accessible with a small car, just drive slow and be extra careful at rougher spots. There are signs that say "no camping beyond this point", but they are only referring to the land before you get the refuge. Once you enter the refuge you can camp just about anywhere. This is a very beautiful place, would highly recommend spending a night if you're in the area.

Wonderful!

Owners are very friendly and the site is very clean. There is a large field where your dogs can run free which is to the South over the ditch. You will need to bring a table tho as there are no tables at the stands.

You do hear the big trains coming through but the starry skies make up for that.

Overall a great site with a swimming pool. AT&T phone had a full signal
