Visitors to Fort Bridger State Historic Site can explore frontier history while staying at Fort Bridger RV Camp, a privately operated campground just blocks from the reconstructed trading post. The facility accommodates RVs up to 80 feet with full hookups on pull-through sites, making it accessible for larger rigs traveling Interstate 80.
The campground maintains clean restroom and shower facilities year-round, a notable feature since many area campgrounds close during winter months. Stuart H. found the bathrooms "clean and warm which was very welcome with the weather in the single digits" during a January stay. Staff members receive consistent praise for their helpfulness, though the office closes at 7 PM sharp and does not allow self-parking after hours.
Sites feature grass areas with adequate spacing between neighbors. The campground sits far enough from Interstate 80 that highway noise does not carry to the sites, though nearby cattle provide occasional background sounds. WiFi reaches throughout the property, and cell service works reliably. A large tent site sits separated from RV areas for those preferring canvas accommodations.
The historic fort museum operates within walking distance, offering exhibits on frontier trading post life and Mormon pioneer history. Aaron notes the location is "only about 5-10 minutes off I-80" but positioned so "you won't hear any sounds coming from the interstate." For additional camping choices, Lyman KOA operates five miles northeast.
Reservations are recommended, especially since walk-ins must arrive before the 7 PM office closure to secure sites.
