A gorgeous night on a river

We tent camped here for one night. We had to park a little ways away from where our site was, but it was so sweet and tucked away next to the rushing river we loved it!

The bathrooms are primitive but clean, though can be full of flies.

It's a gorgeous place to pitch your tent.

    Beautiful!

I took my 4 teens and 3 dogs tent camping here last summer and it was the best of the best. The surroundings are magnificent. The nature trail was fun. The campsites are spaced away from each other so as to enjoy privacy. We could have stayed longer it was wonderful.

    Didn’t stay

It was a very disappointing.. We reserved a tent site which was so small my tent did not fit the space!! There was no shade and parking spot was bigger than the tent spot!! The owner was very nice and gave me a full refund and was also willing to move me or help me to find another spot in town..

    Nice facility

Is a rather small but clean and tidy facility. Tent sites are small but fairly level. Liked that they had individual bathrooms. Didn't like the proximity of the park to the highway which made it somewhat noisy in the early evening. Is very close to town of Lander

    Boondocking for a fee

Basic sites, both drive through and back in, as well as several tent sites. Each site has picnic table and fire pit. Essentially just boondocking for $32.25 a night. Pay station takes credit cards. On the plus side, it is next to a lake and the surrounding scenery (sagebrush country) is nice, like many BLM areas. Good Verizon connectivity.

    Good location

This RV Park and campground is about a mile outside of Lander Wyoming. The town is small but has wonderful small town charm. The campground is fairly large but the sites are close together. They have pull through, back in, and pull in sites. The pull in sites do have hook ups and they are not on the "wrong side" but that is designed for pull in units like small RVs or conversion vans. There are a couple tent sites with little to no shade and are really just gravel plots. The wifi is good and I had good service with Verizon. Nice bathroom and laundry facilities. I can see this campground being very crowded in the summer.

    Boysen State Park Campground

Great sites right on the water

I was lucky to find one of the sites that did not require a reservation available (only 2 tent sites are available this way). There is no reception here so quickly making an online reservation is not an option.

This campground has spacious sites for tents. I stayed on one of the sites on the ledge just above the water. The toilets are clean and the campground host is a great guy.

At 32.25 dollars it is definitely not the cheapest state park, but the location makes it worth it.

    Would recommend

    Disappointed

It was hard to connect with Christine upon check-in. She was not in the office at 3:30pm and she knew we were arriving. We set up and I checked back in and no one was there. Then she got busy with RV’s. The office didn’t open until 8am so again we left. I tried to call to give my CC. They cram the RV’s in and our tent site was literally sandwiched with an RV and cabin. People walking dogs and restrooms were a walk. Stop in Thermopolis for a day and drive south to Boysen State Park and Reservoir.

    Lander City Park

    Wish more towns did this.

Lander City Park is perfect for those in the area looking for an area to spend the night. There’s plenty of room for RV’s as well as multiple tent sites. Many of the sites have a table and grill included. You can stay here for free for up to 3 nights.

Lander City Park is right on the river, and within walking distance from the downtown area. There also seem to be plenty of bike trails. There is also a really neat, huge playground with our kiddos really enjoyed.

There is a bathroom as well as a shower house.

Will be boondocking here again when we are in the area.

Sinks Campground — Sinks Canyon State Park

    Great Mountain Creek Site

This place is incredible. One of my favorite places and would go back in a heartbeat. The canyon road goes straight up and includes a number of small campsites along the way. We stayed at sinks canyon and had a great time. The sites are nestled against the beautiful rushing mountain creek. We enjoyed the hiking and swimming and got to love this special place. The rates are very reasonable and all handled through self pay. The camp host is awesome and has firewood and lots of stories. We spend two night but could have stayed a week or more. The paved sites are a bit uneven. So you will need levelers if parking a camper. The tent sites and yurts are very popular here. Highly recommend this one. The grocery store in Lander offers discount for campers if you produce your pass.

    Wyoming Gardens RV Park

    2nd time around.

We stayed here 2 years ago. That is our test. Would we be back? The answer was yes. So, here we are in site #4. Staff is super friendly. Cute downtown, with health food store & brewery. Hot Springs State Park close. Recommend the free state mineral pools. Grocery store, dollar store and liquor store just a couple of blocks. Fast food within walking distance.

    PROS:

    • Each site is pull thru sites, each with direct access from the main road.
    • Each site has a small concrete patio, table and small grill with beautiful grass.
    • Sites are gravel, except tent sites wich is beautiful lush grass.
    • Shower house with 2 stalls for toilet and showers ( see video). A little dated, but super clean.
    • Easy check-in
    • Reasonable cost for full hookups.
    • Convenient to everything
    • Laundromat less than 1 block $2 wash.
    • very good WIFI

    CONS:

    • Right on the main road, but road noise was not bad.
    • Sites are close together
    • Bathrooms are a little dated, but clean.

    Bull Lake

    Bull Lake Dispersed site

Heading North out of Riverton Wyoming is Bull Lake. The lake itself is hidden from the highway, but Bull creek has a large bridge that lets you know where to turn. The road is not bad, but can be tricky depending on the time of year and weather. It is a dirt road and prone to mud holes. Following the road up then crossing the dam got us on the side of the lake where we made camp, it was early summer so the water was pretty low and gave us access to sites that would otherwise be underwater. Firewood is easily found, but there is not much for stores so be prepared and take in what you will need. The fishing from shore was good with both Flyrods and baitcast. You will need a Wind River Reservation fishing license and permit to camp and fish here. Make sure to pickup a trash and leave it better than you found it. Enjoy

    Quiet and beautiful ranch

This is an amazing property. We stayed one night along the back fence. There were a few open sites all with 30 amp, and two with 50 amp. There was water next to the electric and a dump station on the way out. The owners invited us up onto the porch of the house where we also met the caretaker and other campers.

It is 20 minutes outside Riverton, WY for any fuel, groceries, food etc.

    Lander City Park

    Great little camping spot

The camping area attached to the city park a few blocks off the main road is gem. Cascading river next to the camper area provides lots of white noise. The tent area is lush & green with a few trees, totally unexpected. But to achieve that there were sprinklers going off at 6pm when I arrived. They quit about 8. Now the question is will they go off in the morning? Yes they went off at 6am. So be prepaid for rain if you set up a tent.

    Small quiet campground

Small quaint campground en route to many other parks in Wyoming. Great stopping point with plenty of privacy. The majority of the campgrounds are fairly small however they back up to the Middle Popo Agie River which provides a relaxing environment.

Upper Wind River Campground — Boysen State Park

    Fun family camping

There are lots of campsites at Boysen State Park. I called the phone number and talked to a nice ranger. She suggested Upper Wind River campsite since we did not have boat and wanted to have a nice tent spot. We camped 1 week before site changed from reservation to FF. We planned on staying 2 nights but it was so relaxing we ended up staying 4. 1 day we went to Marina and swim beach. Another day we went to Thermopolis and checked out Dino museum and hot springs. Last day we just hung around camp and relaxed. Campsite had a park for kids. No showers but plenty of water so we set up privacy tent and we’re able to shower when we wanted. If we were there during peak season I bet it would feel a little crowded but was perfect the time of year we went because there were maybe 10 sites filled out of the 80ish there.

    thank you Lander ...

... for this just wonderful spot! Clean, shady, and quiet next to a small river and within walking distance to the downtown district with great restaurants and bars. And it's free for 3 nights (donations welcome). Flat gravel spots for several even large RV's, most with picnic tables, restrooms, and huge grassy areas for tents as well.

Plain and Simple - Great for One night

The campground is SAND with some scrub weeds on it, as expected in the middle of Wyoming. Paid over the phone, never saw the host at all, even as we were setting up and breaking down.

Definitely have your doormat out or you will track sand all over your rig.

Just passing through for a one nighter, you can't beat the price. Hosts were very friendly when making the phone reservation. Would stay again, but definitely not for long term.

This is a nice spot when traveling through Wyoming. The sites could use a little upgrading that’s why I didn’t give it a 5-star rating. Camping Next to a Cascade

This was a wonderful surprise in the heart of Wyoming. We spent the night on our return from Yellowstone. The campsite was right on the drive and next to a cascade in a deep canyon. The crashing waters helped me sleep well all night, while it kept my wife awake for the same reason.

Clean vault toilet, potable water, wildlife, and great trails.

Other camping areas with electricity and water are further in.

Nice little town with cute shops, and great ice cream just to the north.

    We will return.

    Tough Creek Loop

This site has multiple campgrounds. You have to reserve them online through Reserveamerica.com, and it is NOT an easy site to navigate. Otherwise, we were driving through & this was an excellent spot for the kids to cool off in the water & spend the night. There were trees for some shade. It has vault toilets & a water pump. Campsite has a nice tent pad, firering, & picnic table. There were bugs, but we were not bothered by mosquitoes. Sunset & sunrise were beautiful!
