    Devils Tower KOA

    Overpriced

When I called to check availability, I was told that it was off season so it would be 50 dollars per NIGHT FHU. When I arrived, it was 91 dollars FHU. Told them what I was told, and they didn't really care. At that point I didn't have a choice.

    Devils Tower KOA

Best place to launch a Devil’s Tower visit

The KOA is literally at the base of Devil’s Tower - you aren’t going to get a better location. What I love about this campsite is that the actual campground is awesome, too. We loved watching Close Encounters (right at the scene of the action!) in the evening (the screen could be bigger). The playground was nice and so was the free miniature golf course. It was nice to get up in the morning and go to a really reasonably priced restaurant. The actual sites were not anything fancy - level and close together. It’s a great place to start or finish your day at Devil’s Tower!

    Devils Tower KOA

    Exceeded Expectations

We made a last-minute booking and staff was more than helpful in getting us booked over the phone past the online booking time.

We rolled in late, and the staff made it easy for us to find our site. The site was level enough to not need blocks, but blocks would have been useful if it wasn't just for one night.

The showers were extremely clean, but I still would suggest shower shoes. They were close and accessible from our site and the showers were private with a locking door.

We did get to view the aurora borealis that night next to the silhouette of the tower, which was really cool.

Overall it was a very clean, quiet, and nice KOA. I will be staying here again if in the area.

    Devils Tower KOA

    Well kept

The owners take care of this campground, you even see the sprinklers running to keep the grass nice. The food at the campground exceeded my expectations. Keep in mind though that if a bus tour comes in they shut down the kitchen for a bit. The campground is literally at the entrance to devils tower. The only downside is that the spots are not wide. They are long so they fit by 41 ft rv but we are on top of the neighbor.

    KOA Devil’s Tower

It is one of the BEST KOA’s that I have visited. It is well kept, the sites are roomy and I have a great view of Devil’s Tower.

The bathroom and showers are roomy and clean. The laundry is a bit small but all of the machines were working.

    Devils Tower KOA

    Nice KOA, good location

Your typical KOA. Clean facilities and lots of activities. Their pool is being worked on currently. They offered free mini golf because of that. Sites can be a bit cramped, but scenery is nice and bathrooms/ showers are clean.

    Devils Tower KOA

This is largest KOA we’ve visited with huge grassy areas for tons of tent camping and spacious RV sites for rigs of all sizes.

This is largest KOA we’ve visited with huge grassy areas for tons of tent camping and spacious RV sites for rigs of all sizes. Views of Devil’s Tower can be seen throughout the park especially from the outdoor theater where they play “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” every night.
TIP: don’t rely on your KOA app or online reservation system. They state “only 1 space left!” in red. I counted 8 empty sites on our row alone. Always call!! We stayed in site #18 which had a long shaded, grassy area to spend lazy afternoons. The sites are level with a combo of gravel and dirt. There’s two bathroom/shower/laundry buildings.
Not sure what’s going on with their pools. Both are closed and one under construction. There’s still plenty to do: two playgrounds, hay rides, putt putt golf and live entertainment in the evenings. Loved our stay.

    The view

KIA’s are the glamping of camping. That’s why we stay at them every once in awhile. The dog park wasn’t great and the WiFi speed wasn’t anything to brag about. The bathrooms were clean and they offered evening activities. This stay really sold us on the view. It’s beautiful!

Well, it's a KOA... The kids love it... Had a pool and a very challenging mini golf pitch. Otherwise very cool spot.

    MEH for a Koa

Super tight spots, super small pool although they are building a new one. Not much frills, typical I don't care about the extras but when paying 75 dollars I expect the sites to be a tad nicer.

    Devils Tower KOA

    Expensive! Nice View.

Just like a KOA, tight sites, nice staff, clean restrooms and showers, nice playground. Excellent view from our site and quick access to the park. So expensive. An extra $5 per kid per night. And 3 loads of laundry cost me $18. 3$ to wash, 3$ to dry. They also show "Close Encounters" each night.

    Devils Tower KOA

Very nice campground with spectacular view of Devil's Tower

Stayed at an RV site in early June, 2021.  The site assigned to us was on the outer loop and directly opposite Devil's Tower.  The tower was nicely framed by a pair of trees at our campsite.  The entrance to national park is immediately next to this KOA.

The hosts were friendly and accommodating.  No complaints with the water and electric service at our campsite.  Our site (as were all the others as far as we could tell) was level.

The restrooms were clean, but like things seeing a lot of use these days needed a couple repairs but nothing major.   The on-site showers were also clean and the water warm.  The KOA staff watered an adjacent site through the night while we were there.

Note: site's were available on first-come basis at nearby Devil's Tower Belle Fourche campground but don't offer the amenities of the KOA.

    Devils Tower KOA

Great KOA campground, so close to Devils Tower

So far this is our best KOA experience, though I'm taking off 1 star because the mingolf experience, which looks like a great one, was closed for renovation during peak season which seems inexcusable. Great views of the tower, numerous shade options, working hookups. Our power actually had the polarity reversed, but it worked fine. The dump station had a somewhat odd placement requiring me to drive around reverse of the campsite order to get on the right side, but that seems somewhat usual apparently. Also during rain the dump site was flooded, so make sure you have good gloves! It still worked under the flood waters.

Store was interesting with some great items to pickup, ice cream, and decent food, though during the uptick of delta covid-19 in wyoming nobody was wearing masks or distancing.

2 great playgrounds for the kids!

    Devils Tower KOA

    Not for RV people

Very very few sites with green grass and trees. Construction was going on Most/majority of sites agave dry/dying grass and no trees It seems they invested more on the front of the business (shop, cafe area, reception) and cabin/tent area I do not recommend for RV Most of the trees are in different areas other than the rv sites

Proximity to Devils Tower can’t be beat

Nice KOA. Great open views of Devils tower. We’re in site 5. Any of the 1-9 or 10-15 would be awesome. 32-38 you’re looking at the tower thru a row of RV’s but still a great view. The V1-V6 and TE3-TE6 sites are lower in elevation (down a small embankment) from the 1-9 sites so you’re unobstructed. Bathrooms are nice as is pool. Mini golf is under construction or repair !? Great store and restaurant / cafe. Decent playground.

    Devils Tower KOA

Very nice KOA at the base of Devils tower national Monument. Nice grass camp site with water and electricity. Shaded in late afternoon and early morning. Great views of the Tower. Clean bathrooms, shower rooms and large laundry facility’s.

Evening outdoor showing of Close Encounters and fun to hear the tones through night air.

Entrance to the park is next to the park so you could ride bikes in or hike it in.

    Devils Tower KOA

Needs some work for the price

We stayed here one night and it was almost $90. That’s the most expensive campsite we’ve stayed at. I felt it wasn’t that bad because they had a pool. Turns out it was empty. According to the paperwork when we checked in, it should have been open. The mini golf wasn’t open either. At night they show a movie. I don’t think the price is worth it. I don’t think we would stay there again.

    Amazing

The campground is awesome, beautiful view of The Devils tower, pretty good wifi. But at night.... Heavenly view of the stars with the Tower being outlined in the sky. I am most missed due to that sleep thing & Close Encounters movie every night except Sunday!

    Devils Tower KOA

    Fabulous Experience

Love this spot. Very clean, dog area, plenty of room between spots. Laundry area and Close Encounters of The Third Kind every night at 7pm. Loved the view of the tower from our spot. WiFi was good enough to work from without our boost. We ended up staying for 4 days. Took a day trip to Mt Rushmore. Not a lot of grocery places so don’t count on that. Would still go back. Beautiful area.

    BLM Weston Hills

    Lots of hunting

I had a different experience than the last reviewer- Perhaps, google sent me somewhere different. I have included some pictures of the signs for directions. The road goes through the national recreation area and then special BLM area. Camping is available at both all along the way. There is a bathroom right near the front entrance of the national rec area. Lots of hunter campsites with the heavy duty winter tents that look like houses with chimneys. The ATV activity is hunting related not adventure ATVing. I went about 3 miles beyond the national park boundary into the special area. Lots of spots spaced pretty far apart... however, many are occupied. I found a nice spot about 3 miles deep. I did see some cow pies but no cows anywhere in sight. I presume they mozied to another area due to hunting commotion. Very little traffic going through where I was camping. If you are a hunter then this is great for you. Also, I saw a wolf spider on steroids. Be aware of that if you are tent camping. There are lots of different dirt roads you can take and most of them continue to provide campsites with fire rings. I enjoy hiking, trail running, and exploring. However, I didn't want to scare the deer away and interfere with the hunting which very obviously dominated the area. Camp courtesy- it's hunting season.

Right at the entrance to Devils Tower. It can’t be any more convenient unless it was in the parking lot of Devils Tower. Nice place.
