Best Cabin Camping near Cokeville, WY

Several cabin camping options surround the Cokeville region, most located within 30-60 miles of town. Kelley Guard Station in Kemmerer offers rustic cabin accommodations with picnic tables and fire rings but no running water or electricity. Montpelier Creek KOA provides cabin rentals with more amenities including electricity and basic furnishings. "Our cabin was right on the creek, and I found my pace and place on the porch and nature trail watching birds and listening to the creek while the kids enjoyed the pool and playground," notes one visitor. Bear Lake North RV Park and Campground in St. Charles, Idaho features cabins with standard electrical hookups and nearby shower facilities.

Reservations are essential for all cabin rentals in the region, especially during summer months when Bear Lake attracts visitors. KOA cabins near Montpelier and Garden City provide the most amenities, including access to camp stores, playgrounds, and shower facilities. Most locations allow pets in cabins for an additional fee, though policies vary by property. The Egan Basin Guard Station requires advance booking through the Forest Service reservation system and offers a more secluded cabin experience. One camper wrote, "The incredibly kind host gave us a cabin for no extra charge since the campsite was almost empty. Character like that is hard to come by anymore!"

Most cabins include beds with mattresses but require visitors to bring their own linens, pillows, and sleeping bags. Kitchen facilities vary widely—KOA cabins typically include small refrigerators and microwaves, while forest service cabins like Kelley Guard Station have no electricity or running water. Camp stores at KOA locations stock basic supplies, snacks, and firewood. The Bear Lake KOA Holiday features "a cute little store that sold a variety of camping items and food and drinks, candy, chips, medicines, toiletries and much more," according to visitor reviews. Campers staying at more remote cabins should bring all necessary supplies, including drinking water and cooking equipment.

    La Barge Guard Station

    Amazing wild flowers !

This remote cabin can be rented for $30 night if not in use by the forest service staff. This is a popular destination for snowmobiling in the winter month and fly fishing in the summer. I visited in July and the wild flowers were incredible in LaBarge Meadows. This is near the Tri-Basin drainage. The trail head for the Lander Cut-Off Trail is right at the cabin. There is an outhouse, picnic table in the yard and a fire ring. There is a stream right along the cabin and there is writer plumbing in the summer months.
There is a doorknob lock that you enter a code into to access the cabin that is provided upon your reservation. Call 307-877-4415 to make your reservation!

    Sun Outdoors Garden City Utah

    On the beach!

This campground seems like it is one of the closer campgrounds to the water. It's pet-friendly, has full hookups, picnic tables, and wifi. The nice thing about this campground is it does have a beach as well as water/lake access. Not as many amenities as the KOA (Bear Lake/Marina Side).

The bathhouse was very clean. Did seem less busy than the KOA (Bear Lake/Marina Side).

    Conestoga Ranch

    Total Glamping experience

Conestoga Ranch is a destination that gives luxury a down home feel.

Located in Garden City, Utah on the beautiful Bear Lake Conestoga Ranch offers luxury tents and a chance to stay in a covered wagon.

I stayed in a larger, more luxurious site because my wife and I were on our Anniversary weekend.

The tent had a king bed, shower, and deep claw foot tub. The decor is charmingly rustic with log furnishings and tin and raw pipe for plumbing and accessories, this is all intentional and makes the experience even better.

Onsite, there are clean shower rooms and rest rooms, laundry facilities, an arcade, and a very fine restaurant and lounge.

Upon check in, you park by the office and a attendant takes you and your gear up to your site, later on a fire concierge will come and start your fire as you relax and take in all the beauty around you.

Bear Lake offers so much opportunity for recreation, from boating, to side x side rentals to beaches, mountain biking and some shopping.

This luxury comes at a price...a pretty steep price for camping, rates vary, but staying before memorial day gave us the better rate.

I do think that the price is worth the wonderful experiences that we had at this fun little place.

    Have a great time.

    Blacksmith Fork Guard Station

    Everything you need is there!

We have stayed at this campsite for a few years in a row and plan to keep coming back. The guard station comes fully equipped with cooking utensils and dishes and cleaning supplies. It also includes a propane refrigerator and stove. There are plenty of hiking and biking trails nearby. It does get busy, and you do hear the ATVs going up and down the road all day. There is also a river/stream that runs behind the cabin that is great for fishing. The cabin itself is clean and well maintained. Its the perfect mix of outdoors (no running water, no wi-fi) with some comforts with the stove and beds in the cabin. Great for families who want a little less remote camping experience.

    Egan Basin Guard Station

    Peaceful, Remote and Beautiful

For $30 a night this camping site is a real deal! The site is well maintained, and the A-frame cabin on the site was perfect for our family of 5. The cabin and campsite has no electricity and no water, so you need to pack it all in. Its nice to have a chance to get away from technology and enjoy the outdoors. It is about an hour + to get somewhere where you can get water or other supplies, so you will need to plan accordingly.

Pros: remote, peaceful, quiet. Some nice trails nearby for hiking and mountain biking and ATVs. Also there is a stream that runs along the road to the cabin that is available for fishing. Also, although there are other campsites along the road to the guard station, once at the cabin (about 1/4 off the main forest road), you don't even know there are other people around.

Cons: When we were there LOTS of mosquitos, the forest service road to the guard station gate is a little rough in some places. For those without AWD or 4WD might have a hard time in places.

    Diamond Creek Guard Station

    Peaceful retreat

I loved staying at the guard station! There is a spot to hang your hammock. You can relax by the fire pit or read a book on one of the two picnic tables provided.

Make sure to bring your own water.

    Montpelier Creek KOA

Beautiful KOA on the Wyoming/ Idaho border

I like staying at KOA’s during road trips - I choose a cabin so I can have a bed, there are plenty of things for the kids to do and everyone can find their pace/place to wind down from the day. Some are definitely better than others - Montpelier Creek was one of the BEST. This is a beautiful KOA. Our cabin was right on the creek, and I found my pace and place on the porch and nature trail watching birds and listening to the creek while the kids enjoyed the pool and playground. Everything was in great shape, including the shower house. Wonderful area with lots of history and natural beauty.

    Bear Lake/Marina Side KOA Holiday

Beautifully developed site with all you need

We love this campground! There are a variety of ways to camp here, tent, RV, cabins and the set up allows for privacy. It really feels like a resort. There is an amazing playground for kids, swimming pool, and jumping pillow.

The area is stunningly beautiful and relaxed. The store next to the entrance is amazingly well stocked with all you’d need.

We stayed in an RV supersite that included a private hot tub and BBQ grill.

What you should know

Reservation requirements: Most cabin facilities require advance booking, especially during peak summer months. At the Conestoga Ranch, prices "range from $209-$399 per night" for their specialty accommodations including covered wagons that "can sleep up to six."

Cabin facility variations: Cabins at Montpelier Creek KOA offer more amenities than rustic forest service options. "The shop at the campsite has basic necessities, snacks, and drinks. There's a playground for children and a fenced area for dogs," reports one camper. Forest service cabins typically lack running water and electricity.

Weather considerations: The mountain elevation means significant temperature drops at night. "When we were there LOTS of mosquitos, the forest service road to the guard station gate is a little rough in some places. For those without AWD or 4WD might have a hard time in places," warns a visitor to Egan Basin Guard Station.

Tips for camping with families

Cabin selection for kids: Choose KOA locations for family cabin camping. "These sites are pretty dang close. This is a perfect place to go with family, because you basically share a site with the person next to you. We got to know our neighbors pretty good. Awesome place for kids. Meal planning: While some cabins include refrigerators or microwaves, forest service cabins require complete meal planning. "Our site had a section that was concrete and that's where my boyfriend had set up our kitchen area," notes a camper at Montpelier KOA, showing the importance of creating your own cooking setup at more rustic locations.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: At Bear Lake North RV Park and Campground, RV sites offer full hookups with "standard electrical hookups and nearby shower facilities." Some RVers recommend requesting sites away from main roads for less traffic noise.

Seasonal considerations: Most RV parks in the region operate seasonally. "This RV park would be good for a few RV friends to make reservations and stay as the sites are really close," notes a Cub River Lodge visitor, highlighting the need for advance planning when traveling with multiple RVs.

Utility reliability: Water pressure varies between facilities. One visitor noted at Montpelier Creek KOA that "water pressure is not great" but the "site was pretty level, great cell service through Verizon" though "WiFi sucks," which is important for RVers needing connectivity during their stay.
