Gros Ventre Wilderness

Wildlife viewing opportunities abound at this US Forest Service campground, where campers report moose sightings along the access route and the sound of the nearby river creates a natural soundtrack. The drive requires navigating roughly three miles of unpaved road beyond the pavement's end, making it accessible to RVs up to 28 feet with some careful maneuvering.

Sites vary in levelness, with most offering reasonable parking though a few pitch noticeably front to back. Electric hookups are available at select sites, while restrooms provide potable water but no shower facilities. The forested setting offers campgrounds just outside Teton National Forest for those exploring the broader region's camping options.

Two Nights in Tetons

Arrived late with our 28’ travel trailer, they had our name on the late check in list with instructions our site, 58 was pretty level front to back a little off side to side. Most sites look level except a few look really pitched front to back. Site 83 or 85. Restrooms had water. No showers. Old but clean. We didn’t have any hookups and didn’t fill with water on our way in but managed to dump in 5 gallons of water from the potable water at the restroom to get by. Made a giant breakfast while it rained and I’m sure every bear within 20 miles was drooling. We’re going to go find moose today and get up to the grand view point. Weather is hovering in 30-50 range.

View is amazing!

We stayed in a primitive site about 3 miles past the end of the paved road. There was no bathroom or water, only a fire pit and picnic table. This is free camping between two fee campgrounds. The view is AMAZING! The sunset was beautiful, and the sound of the river at night was nice. we saw a mamma moose with her calf on our drive in.
