There is a small craft boat landing within the campground. Sites 463 and 438 are designated ADA accessible.

Although not part of the Ottawa National Forest, this beautiful waterfalls is surrounded by the Ottawa National Forest. One of the most popular Upper Peninsula waterfalls. Managed by the U.P. Power Company, a developed trail is maintained with steps and bridges across the river at the base of the falls. This is one fall that is beautiful yearlong, and a variety of plants can be viewed throughout the summer.

    Secluded lake camping

This campground is near Townsend. If this one s full just continue down the road to Boulder Lake Campground.

We liked the diversity of campsites. You can find your own space and even add in some shade. Vault toilets and water can be found. Garbage bins are here too. The boat launch gives you access to the peaceful Boot Lake. We aren’t into fishing but liked that hiking isn’t too far. The Quartz Hill Trail is a bit of a drive past Townsend.

This is a peaceful respite in the Wisconsin woods.

    Best campsite.... hidden gem

Me and the kids took a road trip from North Carolina to Wisconsin over the summer during Covid to get away. We stopped at several states and several campgrounds and this one to this day is still our favorite. Even though less amenities since there’s no showers... the site and scenery made that less important! The camp host was very nice and full of helpful information. The campsite was huge and private, also our site was on the lake with access to it. Perfect for pitching up your hammock and just enjoy the scenery and sounds of the lake. Mornings were beautiful with the pines mirrored on the lake and the crying Loons. I’d definitely make this trip again! It’s a great way to let nature just naturally reset your mind! It was sad when we had to leave. We also found a nice family market in Mercer which had everything we needed about 10-15 minutes away. Get the Cinnamon bread! We went up there every morning to get more😂🤣

    Lovely

Lovely campground near the lakes. Tons of lake activities like renting boats to fish (like we did). Our campground was next to nice bathrooms and a sand volleyball court. Good privacy from neighboring campsites.

    Great State park!

Big sites, paved roads, nice camp store, beach area is so so, but the multiple lakes and canal are awesome. We try to get to this park once a year.

Wide open space great if you have kids!

This campground is wide and very open. We arrived on a Sunday and the weekend crowd had cleared out, so nice and quiet. One thing is— do not plan on doing laundry on a Monday. The personnel use all the machines to wash linens and towels from the cabins after folks check out. One dryer did not heat very well. The entry to the laundry is a step up and I stubbed my toe because the threshold was not secured.

    Great Family Atmosphere

We enjoyed the amenities and activities this campground had to offer. Clean bathrooms and laundry room. Great activities for kids…fishing presentation, movie, kickball. The site was full sun which got hot. There were shaded sites, but we couldn’t get sites together in the woods to be close to friends so we had to be in the field sites.

    Great Campground with Great Service

We stayed in a rental trailer here and were very impressed! There is a good mix of open and wooded sites. The weekends it gets busy, but the sites are for the most part spaced well enough apart that you don’t feel packed in. The owners/management were very friendly and responsive to all of our requests. You are close to all of the activities Eagle River has to offer, although not directly on the chain of lakes. They have a nice walking trail on the property, in addition to a bunch of activities geared toward the kids. We definitely plan to go back here again!

    Nice and quiet

Nice and quiet campground, little cool for weather while we were there but so peaceful. Linda was so nice in the office and really helpful, purchased firewood and so nice that they delivered. Would recommend and will stay again. Thanks for the wonderful week.

    Quiet woods

Located down a quiet paved road just 2 miles outside of town. You are close to the action but dont have to listen to it.

Some sites are tight/close and others you could turn around in. Most are fairly level or it doesnt take much to make your camper level. Very little grass at site but you get a picnik table and a fire pit. Wood must be bought at the store but pay attention to the hours as they close early. Plenty of mosquitoes but you are in the woods. Daytime they arent too bad.

    Bathrooms were very clean.

Full hookups, no wifi or at least we couldnt find it. Dogs are welcomed , no barking allowed. Cell phone service was good so you can work if you have too. AT&T and Verizon.

Passport America discount honored for 7 days and Coast to Coast.

Plenty of rules but we will have this on our return list.

    Aweful Management

I truly wish I could give Zero stars for this park. The park itself is in a nice location, but the manager has clearly chosen the wrong career path. We had nothing but electrical issues the entire time we stayed there in a very hot part of summer and the managers answer to the problem when I brought it to her attention was, “don’t run the a/c if you’re having issues, no one else seems to have a problem!” On top of that there is a sign forbidding just about everything you can think of posted everywhere at this park....save your time and go elsewhere.

    Nice but older

The campground was peaceful. A little dated and the websites amenities were a little stretch. Beautiful lake access with small beach. Has heated swimming pool but was closed for season. Does have a wildlife school across the road with free trails you can walk.

    Memorial 2020 🏕🎇🎆

We had such a wonderful week. We enjoyed being with family and good food. One of the best meals was our famous cheese steak sandwiches on the black stone. We had an adventure at the porcupine mountains. The weather was a bit cold on Lake Superior and our picnic was ruined. However we had a great laugh making sandwiches in the car in a middle of a rain storm. Thank god the awning on the camper was still in tact. We Had fun exploring in the woods and getting lost! Good thing we had Lucas to guide us towards the river. It was nice taking a breath and enjoying god’s beauty. We were lucky enough to see a white deer 🦌 Mosquitos were horrible 😂 but we managed! Thankfully we had our bug rackets to fry those suckers 🤣. We also enjoyed a good dinner at headwaters to end the vacation.

    Awesome Northwoods campground!

Buffalo Lake Campground in the Norther Highlands-American Legion State Forest is spectacular - the sites are large and beautiful - we had campsite 2020 which overlooked the lake, a perfect spot to hang our hammock and relax. Firewood conveniently located by the dock next to group sites. Very clean and quiet area.

    Cozy, quiet getaway

Cunard Lake Campground was the perfect, beautiful 5-day getaway we were looking for. Not too busy, noisy or fancy. Great stay for my pup and I! Loved getting to paddleboard (brought my own) and listen to the loons day and night.

Cunnard Lake — Northern Highland State Forest

    Home away from home

My father came here with his family growing up and brought us kids for the last 20+ years. Three different generations have seen this place and it will continue to be passed down. There are several different campground spaces that are all different. Some provide camper access, walk in private access and water access. Cunard Lake allows non motorized watercrafts and has a great swimming area. You will wake up to the sound of loons and go to bed with the sound of them.
