Best RV Parks & Resorts near Ashford, WA

Several RV parks within 30 miles of Ashford accommodate various motorhome sizes. Cascade Peaks Family Campground in Randle offers full hookups with water, electric, and sewer connections on gravel pads suitable for larger rigs. Packwood RV Park provides water and electric sites, while Thousand Trails Paradise RV Campground features fifty-amp service during its April to September season. Sites at Majestic Mobile Manor & RV Park include water and electric hookups with pull-through options for easier parking. Many parks maintain moderate spacing between sites, though weekend occupancy often reaches capacity. "We were in site 11 for 2 nights at the end of June. The campground is located on a small rocky peninsula with about 25 sites of mixed services ranging from full hookup to basic sites with picnic table and firepit."

Access to most RV parks requires navigating mountain roads with occasional steep grades. Dump stations are available at several locations including Maple Grove RV Resort in Randle, which remains open year-round with fifty-amp service. Cell coverage varies significantly throughout the region, with stronger signals closer to larger towns and limited connectivity in forested areas. During summer months, advance reservations become essential as Mt. Rainier National Park visitors fill nearby accommodations. Most parks permit pets with standard leash requirements, though national park trails often restrict animal access. Propane fill service can be found at select locations like Sun Outdoors Gig Harbor, which also offers laundry facilities and accommodates big rigs on paved sites. Winter camping options remain limited, with several parks closing seasonally due to snow conditions.

    Crystal Mountain RV Parking

Great base-camp for winter and summer adventures at Crystal Mountain Resort

Stayed here for the first time in July 2021.  I understand this opened last winter.  Talking to the host, I found out it is far more popular in winter when ski season is open. It was quiet and sparsely filled in July on a Friday and Saturday night.

3 different areas respectively for large RV and 50 amps power, small RVs and 30 amp and tent only area. A fee picnic tables (no benches) available toward the tent only area.  Bathroom are just two sani-cans. Relatively clean.  There is trash and recycling behind the office which is adjacent to the host RV.

Free WI-Fi (the host will give you code) and good LTE connection on AT&T.

Silver Creek runs behind the lot and gives a  bit more of a natural feel. Otherwise you are in a giant parking lot (Lot B).

Can't beat the location for skiing and hiking or biking at Crystal Mountain!

Squaw Rock RV Resort and Campground

Good base camp for doing Outdoors Activities

I wanted to fish for a few days without having to drive to somewhere else to fish. We chose Squaw Rock for its amenities and its river access. Our rating is based on how well it met our desires. We felt Squaw Rocks location was good for making day trips. We'd stay here again. This is a mixture of cabins and RV sites. The cabins are nice and nicely laid out on the property. The RV sites back in onto the Naches River, unless you decide to drive into the site and face the river like we did. We ran our water and electricity under the coach to the service point. Our site was very close to level. The sites are very close together and you share the site utilities. It can get tight. Not all sites have sewer hookups. The common grounds are well-kept. The pool was clean and checked/serviced each day. The staff were very friendly and helpful during our stay. We found others staying here easy to meet and/or chat with. Know what you are getting! Single utility service serves two sites. The water spigot has a Y splitter to share a single water connection.- Power has one 30 Amp and one 50 Amp socket. The first rig arriving gets to choose which one they want to use.- There is NO Park RV Dump station. You're in a valley with NO cell service. Wi-Fi in the park is non-existent. There's a weak signal near the office. We camped at Squaw Rock Resort in a Motorhome.

    Rimrock Lake Resort

    Beautiful sunsets, but windy

We stayed in Site 11 for 2 nights at the end of June 2025.

The campground is located on the side of HWY 12 on a small rocky peninsula, this surprising spot on Rimrock Lake (reservoir created by the dams built about 100 years ago) is run by a retired couple for the last 5 years (as of summer 2025).
It offers a boat launch, 25 or so sites of mixed services (ranging from full hookup [elect/water/sewer] to basic site with picnic table and firepit), and a couple of cabins, and a bath-house on the east side (2 separate restrooms with shower stalls).

The sites are mostly back in, with a few (like site 11) that are pull-through.
The western side sites (1 - 17?) have beautiful views, but the typical afternoon/evening wind can be quite, well, windy, while the eastern side is sheltered from the wind. We hiked around the small peninsula and the wind disappeared.
The small office has a few snacks and camping items but isn't open all the time - only when the owner couple is around.
If you are going to go hiking, you only need to drive a few miles west on Hwy 12 to find several other public campgrounds and some nice scenery, while continuing west up towards the pass and ski resort area on Hwy 12 has several scenic viewpoints that you should plan to stop at for a few minutes each (Lava Falls, etc).
The lake itself is rather sparsely used (one or two boats or a jet ski way off in the distance). We had three very friendly chipmunks who visited our site often and were happy to sit on the old stump and join our camp.

    Ike Kinswa State Park Campground

    Camping amongst the tall trees

This campground is on Mayfield Lake where the Cowlitz River flows into the lake. We were in loop D, which was the only open loop along with the cabins (cabins are loop C and attached to loop D). This is a partial hook-up loop. Full hook-ups are in loop A. The campground is heavily wooded which is really nice for shade, though it can make it tricky to get into a spot if you have slide outs. As we were on the outer part of the loop in a pull-through site, we had a view of the woods and quite a bit of space between neighboring sites. We could not see either of the neighboring sites while sitting by our campfire. There was a trail to the trash compactor next to our site, but it did not seem to be heavily used. The trash compactor is probably a good 1/4 mile down this trail by the dump station. It was very quiet at night, which was fantastic! Very good Verizon cell service. The day use area is out of the campground and across the main road. There is a playground and beach area. It would have been nice if there was a playground on the campground side of the park.

Cougar Rock Campground — Mount Rainier National Park

    Nice place

Nice campground on the SW corner of Mt Rainier NP. We were here in the off season, meaning that reservations are not taken and everything is FCFS. You stop at the ranger office at the campground entrance and you’re given a campsite. $20/night. Zero cell service in this whole area (but there was good cell reception and wifi at Paradise, and free wifi at the museum 2 miles down at Longmire).

There are water spigots at this campground, flush toilets, no showers, trash dumpsters, and glass, plastic, and aluminum recycling. Each site has a picnic table, bear box, and fire pit. The dump station has been non operational for several years and the ranger said she doesn’t think it’ll ever be fixed.

The length limit here is 35 ft for a motorhome, and us at 28 ft head to toe felt very big here. The Wonderland Trail hike can be accessed from this campground, just across the road. Lots of trees in this campground, and we struggled to keep our batteries charged via solar, though there looked to be enough open sky for starlink (we don’t have starlink so I can’t say). All the loops here in this campground are pretty similar in layout and landscape.

    Riverbend Campground

    Nice campground with friendly staff

Interesting the other review was for a first time out with their travel trailer!  Same for us!

We got site 106 which was the furthest one out, it was right along the river.  The site has a concrete slab and fit our Jayco 174BH perfectly.

This site does is a back in, but the slab is at a 90 degree angle from the drive.  So you will have to back your trailer around a corner if you plan to park it on the slab.  Didn't see other sites like this.

The campground did have a very small selection of items to buy, but mainly snacks.  They do fill propane tanks, but only during week days.

The site had water and electrical, but no sewer connections.  they do have a nice dump station.

The camp ground itself did have at least 2 pet areas neither are fenced so a leash is required, along with a playground for the kids.

We have Verizon and had no issues with cell signal at this campground.

Also, this is a private campground, so they have a guy that stands at the gate to open it when guests come arrive.

    Kemp Olson Memorial Park

    Good for a quick overnight

Quaint and quiet town. Small quiet park with electric and water and a dump station. Site two is a pull through that is not set up right to have your awning on the correct side (see photo). Other pull through was too small for our 33’ tt. Sites adequately spaced for some privacy. Nice playground for kids and horseshoe courts. Dog friendly. Nice drive over white pass from Yakima.

    Elkamp Eastcreek

    Best place in Washington state

This is the cleanest, most cared for camping site I have ever been to. The owners Tom and Brian, make your stay very enjoyable. They care about you having a great experience, whether you’re a first time camper or a seasoned camper. They have a great store with snacks, wine, beer, and local sourced goods. They have games you can use while you are there, like corn hole and board and card games, free of charge. Sites are large for travel trailers and motor homes, they also have tent and group sites. Trailer and motor home sites have power and water, there is a dump station you can use on your way home free of charge. The bathrooms are large and very clean, the shower is 4 quarters for 6 minutes, those of us who try to take a 3 minute shower in our rigs so we don’t run through all the hot water so our partner can have a shower without waiting for the water to get hot again it’s a blessing. In the evening Tom or Brian drive through the park seeing if anyone needs ice or firewood, if there’s not a burn ban, bring a propane fire pit for your camping experience. They also sell propane so no fears on running out. The best thing is you are under a large canopy of trees which helps to keep you cool even on the hottest days. There is a small creek to put your chair in and put your feet in the water. Our first year there we brought 4 other people, this year it was 28. We make Elkcamp our yearly get together. Family friendly and a great place to unwind. You’re only a few miles from mineral lake, bring your trunks, inner tube, or your paddle boards. I’d give it a solid 10 out of 10.

    Kemp Olson Memorial Park

Nice, small and largely undiscovered CG

We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow, were meeting friends in the area and visiting Mt. Rainier. The CG has seen some recent improvements, including graveling of the 12 campsite pads. Some of the sites have picnic tables, none of them have fire pits, and only one, site 12, has a grill. We were in site 2 for 4 days in early September. Ours was one of 2 pull-throughs, but ours was on the inside of the loop, which put the utilities on the correct side, but the awing side was close to the road and a large tree, so we had to setup chairs and such on the utility side. Most of the sites are pretty well spaced. There were only a handful of campers here when we arrived on the Friday before the Labor Day weekend and come Saturday, there were only two left besides us. Unfortunately, one of the two remaining was a long-timer, maybe the grounds keeper(?), who often let his little dog run loose in the CG, and though friendly enough, it barked at those who passed near it. The park has a playground and a coin operated water fountain for the kids. There is an elementary school next door, so it can get a little raucous when the kids are outside. There were quite a few low hanging branches throughout the CG, but most were fairly small. I did mention this to the Toledo City Hall, who said they would put it on the list. Although there is a faded“Free WiFi Zone” as you enter the park, we were not able to detect one. AT&T coverage good, ranging from 3-4 Bars of LTE with speeds up to 15 MB/s. We were able to get DISH coverage on some of

Guide to Ashford

Camping near Ashford, Washington ranges from secluded forested sites to riverside locations at elevations between 1,500-2,500 feet. The area experiences significant seasonal temperature variations with summer highs reaching 85°F and winter overnight lows dropping below freezing. Many campgrounds provide limited cell service in valleys while maintaining good connectivity on ridgelines.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Thousand Trails Paradise RV Campground features two stocked fishing ponds popular with younger campers. "My grandson loves coming here with us the two ponds they stock with fish," notes camper John O., who also mentions some overgrown vegetation that "could use some trimming."

Swimming options: The swimming facilities at Thousand Trails Paradise RV Campground provide multiple water recreation options beyond standard pools. "This campgrounds has an awesome swimming area with three pools, one 8ft deep, on 6ft, and one wading pool. Also has a large spa," reports Pamela H.

Mountain access: For early morning access to Mt. Rainier's Paradise area, Gateway Inn RV and Camping serves as a strategic basecamp. "We were planning on snowshoeing at Paradise so we stayed here for a night to get an early start without the long drive," explains Jill T., who appreciated the convenient location despite noting there were "no private at all...right off the road."

What campers like

Convenient town access: Packwood RV Park & Campground offers walkable access to multiple services. "Great quiet place. There's a lot of things around walking distance (all within a couple min walk). Also has great showers bathrooms and laundry ($1.75 per load)," writes Melita B., who lists nearby amenities including "Coffee/breakfast near by, Brewery across the campsite, Gas station, Grocery store, Gift shop, Visitors center."

Pet amenities: Sun Outdoors Gig Harbor includes specialized facilities for dogs. "Clean, friendly and helpful staff. Pet friendly, but not many attractions for children (no playground, no pool)," states Joseph I., who has stayed there "numerous times over the past few years." Another camper, Jacob P., mentions "a dog run, exterior dog bath" among the amenities.

Tent camping options: While primarily an RV destination, Sun Outdoors Gig Harbor includes tent camping areas. "This is definitely a RV resort, but there are 5 or 6 tent camping sites under some big trees which provide shade almost all day," notes Jacob P., who also mentions "Waterfront is right down the street."

What you should know

Seasonal water issues: Campgrounds in the region can experience variable water pressure during peak usage periods. A camper at Cascade Peaks Family Campground reported "low water pressure" and found it to be "really bad, but there are not many sites in the area."

Noise considerations: Cascade Peaks Family Campground receives mixed reviews regarding noise levels. "We found this park to be really peaceful. The owner was truly helpful telling us how best to get to see Mt Rainier and what routes," notes Vik H., contrasting with others reporting less positive experiences.

Long-term residents: Several campgrounds include permanent or semi-permanent residents. Kimberley M. observed at Cascade Peaks that "a number of spots look like they've been set up as permanent housing. Instead of being a campsite, it looks like a small village."

Facility maintenance: Bathroom and shower conditions vary significantly between campgrounds. Aloha M. found at Cascade Peaks that "bathrooms were glorified porta-potties" and noted "trash overflowing," suggesting "some attention is needed by the staff."

Tips for camping with families

Multi-day activities: Thousand Trails Chehalis offers structured activities for children throughout the day. "Kids are helping review campgrounds we visited this summer. They loved that there was scavenger hunts for pigs in morning, tractor rides in afternoon, face painting, slushees, movie in lodge, crafts," reports Nicole R., who found "the experience was phenomenal."

Swimming facilities: Families appreciate the swimming options at various campgrounds. Kris M. "Extended our stay because there was so much to do for the kiddos" at Thousand Trails Chehalis, while another camper noted the "large swimming pool" among the clean facilities.

Mini-golf course: Thousand Trails Chehalis includes a mini-golf course that appeals to children despite its condition. Corinna B. observed "the kids didn't mind that half the mini golf course was falling down...in fact they kind of liked it that way."

Tips from RVers

Maneuvering space: Majestic Mobile Manor & RV Park can present challenges for larger rigs. "It took a long time to get set up because of the ridiculously small amount of space I had to maneuver my 33ft RV and my 8ft extended cab truck," reports Savannah H., noting the park "obviously has a lot of full timers."

Electrical reliability: Power quality can vary at certain campgrounds. One RVer at Thousand Trails Chehalis reported concerning electrical issues: "the power was really variable. Sometimes it would spike to 130 volts and then drop suddenly to 110," necessitating running on battery and generator instead.

Site selection considerations: When RV camping near Ashford, Washington, researching specific site dimensions becomes crucial. At Maple Grove RV Resort, a camper noted "RV spots were mostly level with gravel pads and grass surrounding. The mature trees are nice shade but are large so maneuvering in ways that won't impede doors or awnings can be tricky."
