Amazing but busy! Great views some sites have shade.

Reserve your spot early or the whole thing fills up because it’s the closest to Moab. It’s hit and miss who your neighbours will be. No human is there to complain to if people play music pass 11pm or use their noisy generators. BLM should invest in a camp host! This place is full every day so why not invest in a peace keeper so everyone can get some sleep. Otherwise the place is amazing and clean. But how good is that if you can’t sleep?

Great view

We've been on the road for two weeks now and this is the first paid campground we've stayed in. $20/night or if you have an access pass (not an annual pass) $10/night. We got a site when we arrived at 9:45 am. There were no other sites available at the time. Then two people left and those sites filled immediately. So it was full by about 10:45 am. A lot of road noise but expect that to calm as it gets dark. Super windy today and tent is really being put to its paces. We didn't get on the river side but still amazing views. Pit toilets, picnic tables, fire pit and trash. Cash or card (fee).

Great!

After a quick change of plans we drove here from Colorado and we’re able to find a nice campsite easily. There was plenty of room and it was enjoyable and relaxing. Not far from town either. Only small complaints we had were that you can hear cars, and we had a few ants climb on our hammock.

Pretty and close to town!

Surprised about the availability with this being so close to Moab and Arches. Great views ; only some sites have trees for shade.

The lights on the canyon walls were pretty cool and did not last too long!

nice spot - beware of people with generators

Loved the spot. The views were amazing! easy to get to, and open sites around 5pm on a Saturday. it’s $20 to camp, pay with cash or check.

You are super close to both arches and canyonlands. Also close to the town. oh and the lights on the canyon walls at like dusk is the Moab at night tour - not aliens 😂

Unfortunately people did not follow the rules and started a generator at 11pm running it until 5am. It kept the whole site up since most people were in tents. It seems the closer you are to 191 on 128 the busier the spot.

Super clean

The campground is well situated in the Colorado river not too far from Moab. The sites are level. There’s 3 pit toilets. There’s a paved trail that runs by the campground. There’s no water, power or dump but m would you really expect there to be? The campground is Moab BLM which means it’s run and maintained by the city of Moab. It’s impeccable.

In terms of cell signal, I have Verizon and we eeked a signal with our booster. Don’t expect much even with 2 bars. T-Mobile didn’t work at all.

We loved our stay here. Amazing location. Close to town. Right on the Colorado river. Clean public bathroom. Dog friendly. Large sites with level spots. Picnic table with fire pit. No water though. All of them are great honestly. We did get a couple bars for cellphone service as well.

So close to the arches national park entry. The stunning backdrop is hard to beat. We parked with a RV and although no hookups, we enjoyed the stay so close to the park. It was clean and although next to the road, relatively quiet.

Great Spot Along the River

I pulled into the campground and had an easy time finding an open space.

The sites are all along the Colorado River and have great views of the rock wall.

The bathrooms were clean and the campsite seemed well taken care of.

It’s a five minute drive to the Arches entrance, so a great spot near the park and in town in Moab. There’s also a great paved bike path through the canyon along the water.

Favorite Spot

We arrived late on a Friday after skiing A Basin, so it was later and didn’t realize it was a popular spot. We got lucky and found someone that was leaving early the next morning.

We camped in a dispersed spot close by and got lucky with the spot for the next couple days. The spot was on the river and we did an amazing hike that was extremely close by.

The view from our campsite was amazing and it was a relatively short drive from the downtown part of Moab.

Convenient & Clean with ATT

I originally planned to stay further down the road but discovered Goose Island Campground had some cell service, and as a solo female car-camper, I felt safer having that security.

This site had several people camping even in mid-January. It is easy to find from the road. $20/night pay with envelope at entrance. Clean vault toilets with toilet paper, and a dumpster. The camp sites on the left of the one-way drive are right on the bank of the Colorado river!! Not a lot of cover in the winter for relieving ones self, but toilets are nearby to all sites.

Each site has a fire ring and picnic table, flat area for tents, and a gravel parking pad. It took about 7 min to drive to Arches NP.

Our favorite camp spot near Moab

Very popular campground, close to town and next to the river; love the views.  We ran/biked on the bike path both ways along the canyon, with access to town, Arches, and several other trails.  Water available at Lions Park and also even better water at the springs just next to the road going east from the park.

Amazing views of red rock cliffs along the Colorado river

Goose Island Campground is an amazing campground to get for a visit to Arches National Park. Located only 1.5 miles from Moab and 4.5 miles from Arches National Park's visitor, so close you can walk or bike to town. This campground is right on the Colorado River with towering red rock wall on the Arches National Park side of the river. The scenery is just amazing. This campground is on my all time favorite list. This is a first come first served campground and is very popular, I have been here twice once in July and once in October and both times were lucky to get a spot. Sites are nice and level with plenty of room to spread out and nicely spread apart. The campground has 18 sites and 2 group sites which can be reserved. Cost for individual sites are$20. The campground has three vault toilets, water and trash service. Each campsite has a picnic table and a metal fire ring.

Beautiful campground. Many sites next to the Colorado River. The views looking up at the canyon walls are awesome! Clean restrooms. Good amount of trees for shade. And in the late afternoon those tall canyon walls shade the campground from the sun. It’s also nice to be so close to Moab making quick supply runs so easy!

This campsite is a must stay if you plan on visiting Arches National Park. Get here early in the morning to reserve a site. Our site had direct access to the Colorado River!! The water was super silty and brown, but it felt amazing to take a dip in the scorching Utah sun. The golden and amber rock-face views are stunning in every direction!!

Decent spot great location

We came in pretty late to find a spot and got lucky to find the one of the last two spots at the first campground outside of arches. It was within 5 minutes of the entrance! We had a walk in spot with great trees for our hammocks but the heat killed us! There’s also boat tours that go relatively late on the Colorado river right next to the campground.

Goose Island Single Site

Arrived at 5pm and got the last campsite available, site #13. Storm came through as we arrived, winds were very strong. Once the storm passed it was a pleasant stay except for our unwanted guests (Ants). The site had one tree for shade (where our ant friends had their home). We sacrificed our shade tree to keep the ants out of the camper. Plenty of room in the site for both familIes (ours and the ants). Canyon walls offered shade late in the afternoon. Campsite had fire ring and picnic table provided. Campground was convenient, reasonably priced ($15/night) and had a toilet (vaulted). Bathroom was always clean and had plenty of paper. No showers available so we went to Canyonland campground, $6/per person, unlimited hot water and clean. Shower permits aren't issued after 9pm.

Walk in tent site - LOVE

I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived! We got a spot right next to the water and the bathroom! We were nervous about the site filling up but if you arrive between 12-3pm you should be fine. I went in July, during peak season and got a site at 1pm, but it does fill up later in the day. The site is about a 5 minute drive from the Arches National Park entrance and 5 minutes from downtown Moab. It is in the perfect spot and it provided shade by 5pm and it was just a perfect campground! Defintely worth the $15 per night!!

River Front Walk-In Tent Awesome-ness

Goose Island Campground is the first campground down highway 128 just North of Moab, UT along the Colorado River. I stayed here for two nights with a girls camping weekend where we hiked and climbed around Moab. It is a BLM campground so it is $15/night and we stayed at one of the walk-in sites. In my opinion we got the best walk in site as we could tuck our tents back and get some privacy from other walk in sites as well as the road. This campground is right along highway 128 so you can get a lot of road noise but half the sites are along the river where you can easily access. The river side sites are much nicer as there are more trees for potential shade and just a little farther away from the road for more privacy. There are a lot of trees around but not a lot of shade and be aware of gnats and small flying bugs since you are close to water. They are more annoying around dusk then anything. Typical amenities: fire ring, picnic table, pit toilets, dumpster. One of the best things about this campground is its proximity to everything. You are just a few miles North of Moab; right along the Colorado River for paddling; 5-10 minutes from rock climbing on Wall Street/Potash Road; 5 minutes from Arches; 20 minutes from Canyonlands, even less for mountain biking or Jeep trails. You are close to everything without feeling completely surrounded by people. One cool thing that happened is a night boat tour along the river lit up the canyon walls. FYI the canyon wall along the Colorado is the boundary of Arches National Park.

Overall, this was a great campground that I will definitely stay at again when I visit Moab (which is fairly often). Camping along the river is quite popular so if there is a spot available, be sure to snag it and since Goose Island is the first one, getting a good site can be a challenge.

A fan of the walk in sites

First come first served campground which has a nice setup for RVs and standard pullin tents, but I really like the option of the walk/hike in sites. (They also have some group sites) You've got some really nice shade from the trees, if you're luck enough to get one of these covered spots. Vault toilet restrooms and your normal table and fire ring. You get a little bit of highway noise depending on where you're at exactly and you're not on the river like some of the BLM campgrounds in the area (why Big Bend is so popular).
