Lake access, great views close camping

Wonderful hosted sites with flush toilets, water and trash dumpsters. Rv dump at duck creek CG ($8). Sites are a bit close together for my liking. Good trails along lake. The best part was leaving cedar city at 95F arriving at the lake at 75F!

Camping on top of each other

Good access to the lake, but absolutely not dispersed camping. Unless you like camping within 20ft of strangers with their RVs and screaming kids, I do not recommend

Must come back!

We stopped for the night and had the best experience! We had bathrooms right behind our campsite and a perfect view of the lake from the upper campsites. The best part was absolutely no mosquitoes so we were able to hangout by the campfire all night with no bug spray needed lol. The campsites were pretty close together so we got to listen to a campsites baby crying most of the night but, other than that it was awesome!

Great view of lake

All camping spots have a great view of the lake. Some spots are really close. Came in with a 26ft rig and would be a tight fit in the assigned camping spots. Tent camping would have been no issues. Had restrooms and water points throughout site. Had to camp down the road at TE-HA. More rig friendly.

Nice Secluded Area

Nice campground with cabins and general store. A lot of hiking a bike trails. Boat and kayak rentals. The only negative is the lake is so slow. They need some rain. Still would make a fun stopover!

Beautiful and convenient.

Navajo Lake Campground has a great layout and doesn’t stack campsites too close together. The bathrooms are clean (let’s all do our best to keep them that way), and the water’s edge is very close. Star gazing from the nearby beach area is stunning.

BEWARE Different kinds of creatures do move about at night in this area. Do not leave trash and food around your campsite before going to bed for the evening.

Beautiful grounds

Currently closed, this campground is In the mountains of the Dixie National Forest. It’s a nice spot right across from Navajo Lake. 11 sites are walk-in and another 12 are drive-up. There are also a couple of double sites. The spots are surrounded by natural beauty with easy access to fishing, kayaking, canoeing, off roading, hiking and more in the area. Also great proximity to Bryce, Zion and Cedar Breaks. Take a drive up Brian Head Peak in the warmer months. The towns of Hatch and Duck Creek Village are both very close by. I’m not sure if they’re closed seasonally (it was end of Sept when we arrived) or due to COVID and couldn’t find any information on it so make sure you check the USFS website before trying to camp here! We will try again in the future as this area is beautiful.

Lakeside in the Mountains of Dixie National Forest

Navajo Lake Campground fits the idyllic image of camping by a lake. The farthest sites would be a five minute walk to the shore from the upper campground. The nearest sites only require a walk of a minute and are adjacent to a primitive and boat dock. The lake contains natural and stocked trout. This secluded retreat does have quick access to a small general store for ice, food, tackle, and very reasonable boat rentals at the Navajo Lake Lodge about a mile down the road by the rental cabins. Firewood can be purchased from the camp host on site as well but inventory was very low during our stay. And you will want firewood to stay warm because evenings and mornings are crisp and cool due to the almost 10,000 feet of elevation. When we visited in the middle of September, days were still in the mid 70’s and nights fell to about 30 degrees.

The Upper Campground is separated from the Lower Campground by the two lane highway. The Lower Campground sites are more accommodating for RVs and our site was pretty level. While there is no sanitary dump here (expect to dry camp if bringing an RV) there is one at the Duck Creek Campground for a fee a short drive away. We visited the last week of the season and the campground was completely functioning and clean after a busy 2020 camping season so kudos to our friendly and attentive camp host for their great work. Good luck fishing. I will be back next summer so I hope to see you there!

Really Nice Spot

Well maintained site. Flushing toilets, running water in restrooms.  Fire ring and tent pad were very nice.  Small General Store about 1 mile away has supplies as well as rents motorboats, canoes, kayaks, pontoon boats.  Staff is super friendly and eager to help. Days are warm, nights are rather cold!

Fourth of July Weekend

Due to Covid-19 everything was pretty much shut down for 4th of July celebrations. We decided to take a family trip down south to Parowan. Due to some minor inconveniences with finding a camping spot we ended up driving for several hours trying to figure out where to camp. We ended up camping at the Navajo Lake campground with our trailer. It was absolutely stunning, and I completely forgot I was actually in Utah! 🤣 it was so fun!! We got to go fishing and swimming and kayaking, and the sunsets did not disappoint! Overall very happy with our trip and would 110% go back and comp there again!

Great family friendly campground

Loved this campground! Plenty of spots, good mix of back in, pull through, and tent. Spots have picnic table and fire rings. Flushing toilets and firewood for purchase. Limited parking for tent spots-one car per spot. Walking access to the lake and beautiful views! No cell service FYI, but 20 min drive to duck creek village where there is a general store, gas station, and cell service

Great views and peaceful

Hey all, this is my first ever review on Dyrt.

Loved this campground. Mainly because you're literally next to the wate (lake) and also you can park your car right in your campsite. We stayed at #13 and it was on July 8th and 9th. Nice and warm during the day but very cold at night, so make sure you bring some extra layers for the night.

Also, if you're looking for an adventure theres a nice hike to Cascade Falls- about 4-5 miles drive from the campground and you drive on dirt road for couple miles to get there and then a little adventurous hike to the falls. Have fun and be safe!

Our favorite spot so far!

We LOVED this campground. We were really sad that we didn’t find it until the last day of our trip, because we would have easily stayed here for several days. You are right on the lake, it is calm, quiet, all the spaces are mostly private and you can’t hear much noise around you. The trees give great shade and the fire rings are clean and well maintained. The camp host was AWESOME. He was friendly, informative and very knowledgeable about the area. We had such a great time staying here and definitely will again. There is a boat launching site, RV sites, tent sites, and an upper campground in the trees if you like that better! We absolutely loved it here. There is usually running water and running water restrooms but right now it is shut off- hopefully that starts up soon! There is a vault toilet, picnic benches and nice paved spots to park in.

Ranger Review:  LEDlenser MT10 Flashlight at Navajo Lake Campground, UT

CAMPGROUND REVIEW

Navajo Lake Campground is divided into two sides between the main road. We preferred the south side, as it is more elevated, with tall pine trees; however, the north side is closer to the lake. The main road to Navajo Lake has been newly re-paved, and it is smooth & perfect. The campground could use the same overall, as the asphalt, picnic tables, and restrooms are most likely original. Views are gorgeous, and there's plenty of fallen trees & branches for firewood collecting. Big wide fire pits are it's best feature! Hosts are friendly and leave you alone. 4 Stars

PRODUCT REVIEW

As a Ranger for The Dyrt, I get products to test from time to time. While camping at Navajo Lake Campground, we tested the LEDlenser MT10 Flashlight. https://www.ledlenser.com/en/products/flashlights/outdoor/mt10/

WOW, what a phenomenal little light!! Every night we used it, we were continually amazed! There are so many great things to rave about with this flashlight. Here are a few highlights, in no particular order... Super bright (1000 lumens), shines far (up to 590 ft), 3 brightness settings (each with a broad view or narrow focus), long lasting (up to 144 hrs), rechargeable battery (with USB cable), very comfortable to hold & lightweight (.5 lb), water resistant, metal pocket clip, wrist strap, and carrying case with Velcro belt latch.

Here's a brief video showing flashlight's incredible beams:

https://youtu.be/FJzs5GDPoLc

I should mention two features that we could not engage: Strobe light mode and the "transportation lock." The strobe light mode, when on high, could be used in case of emergency. The ability to lock the power button would be helpful so the flashlight is not accidentally left on in a pocket or backpack.

Overall, we are very impressed with this little light. And... we will never again venture into the darkness without our LEDlenser MT10 Flashlight!! 5 Stars
