Henrieville Creek - Grand Staircase Nat Mon

White cliffs rise above the camping area at Henrieville Creek, with the creek itself running close enough to the sites that flooding and mud become real concerns after any rain. This is free, drive-in BLM camping within Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, set along a short access road off the highway. The sites are small in number. Campers report that the road in is eroded and overgrown, requiring high clearance at minimum, and four-wheel drive is strongly recommended given the soft soil conditions visible in photos and confirmed across multiple reviews.

Road conditions have turned away more than a few visitors. Several reviewers arrived after wet weather and could not get their vehicles through at all, a pattern worth taking seriously when planning a visit. The site sits at roughly the same elevation as the creek, which means water levels during spring runoff or after storms can affect usability directly. Those who do get in find a low-traffic spot with white cliff faces nearby and fragrant vegetation. As Rad C. notes, it functions well as "a good stopover between Bryce Canyon and Escalante."

Campers routing through this stretch of southern Utah can also consider Schurtz Bush Creek to the northeast or Mud Springs Road BLM Dispersed (BLM 301) to the east as alternatives with similar BLM access. Toilets are the only amenity on site. Bring all water, avoid the access road after precipitation, and plan for dry, late-summer conditions to have the best chance of reaching the campsite.
