Within Rogue River National Forest, Hamaker Campground operates as a defunct facility from the 1940s that still accommodates visitors willing to camp without services. The Forest Service maintains seasonal access from May through October, though crumbling fire pits and remnants of old restrooms indicate the site's abandoned infrastructure status.
Seven dispersed sites spread across the area with adequate spacing for mid-sized trailers, accessible via standard forest roads. Three sites sit above the river with steep, short trails leading to water access. Dead wood collects naturally throughout the campground for firewood. OHV trails crisscross the surrounding forest, and hiking routes extend from the immediate area. Campers should prepare for primitive conditions including no restrooms, requiring self-contained waste management and water supplies.
