Presque Isle Passage RV Park in Fairview remains open year-round with big-rig friendly sites featuring 50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections. West Haven RV Park and Campground operates seasonally from May through October with pull-through sites and similar hookup capabilities. "Sites aren't on top of each other," notes one camper about the area's campgrounds, though some reviews indicate tighter spacing at certain parks during peak season. Mitchell Lake Campgrounds offers 11 RV sites with 50-amp and 30-amp electrical options, though limited amenities compared to larger facilities in the region.

Most parks provide sanitary dump stations, though availability of on-site propane varies considerably between facilities. Cell service strength fluctuates throughout the area, with several reviewers noting weak T-Mobile coverage but generally reliable Verizon connectivity. Pet policies are typically accommodating, with designated dog areas at some larger parks. Winter camping options remain limited, with Presque Isle Passage among the few facilities maintaining year-round operations. Road access to most parks accommodates large motorhomes, though some secondary roads leading to waterfront locations may require careful navigation during inclement weather.

      Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA Holiday

      Happy Camping

Relax, breath, and camp. Perfect spot.

This Campground is quiet, full of fun, for families or older people. Beautiful area.
Many pull through lots, with patios. 50. 30. Full hookup, (sewer and Electric) back in, pull through, tent sites, cabins, teepees. Swimming pool, private bathrooms and showers. Fishing lake, swimming lake, trails. Children play areas. Basketball, bad mitten/volleyball, Dog wash, dog parks (2), private fenced dog sites. (2)- pull through site. Golf cart rentals, and seasonal sites that are being updated, but all are decorated nicely, and kept up.
KOA is revamping some of this campground. Work in progress, but awesome stay.

      Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake

Great spacious park with 2 lakes!

Kenisee Lake RV Resort Thousand Trails in Jefferson, Ohio is a another great Thousand Trails park! This park is very large and has a park-like setting with 2 lakes. There is fishing on the lakes and the campground has rowboats available to use. They have all the amenities a family could want such as swimming pool, playground, mini-golf, and more! The staff is friendly and very accommodating. Kenisee Lake has 30 and 50 amp FHU back-in and pull-through sites. The only downside is the internet which is lacking in this area. We have really enjoyed our stay here and will be returning! 👍🏻😬

Sun Retreats Geneva on the Lake

It's Easy to Love this Campground

As newbies to all things RV, we needed a place in Ohio to break in our new travel trailer. Indian Creek is family and pet friendly with all the amenities and even a great lookout spot across the street where you can take in a Lake Erie sunset. We loved the clean bathrooms and appreciated the staff's effort to maintain services while encouraging social distancing. All of their COVID-19 policies were well spelled out online and in signage across the resort so that you knew what to expect. All of the staff wore masks and bathrooms were cleaned often. Some of their usual events and programs were unavailable but they offered craft kits for children to pick up and do at their own campsite in lieu of the usual program. We enjoyed their beautiful put-put course and ice cream stand. They did not allow outside visitors in the resort. The only thing that threw us off was that the bathhouses were closed at night and we didn't know that until we tried to use them. The resort is expanding and adding new sites. They are planting lots of trees (it looked like one at each site) so the resort should become more park-like and less parking lot as they grow. We really liked the back-in sites with water and electric hookups because they were larger and more private and wooded. The fire ring was so easy to cook on that now I'm spoiled! The camp store/gas station was convenient and well stocked with camping supplies. Golf carts are available to rent if you need them to navigate this huge park. We rode our bikes instead. There is a township park just down the road towards Geneva-on-the-Lake proper that we used to spend some leisure and exercise time near the lake. We look forward to visiting this RV resort again in the future!

      Chautauqua Gorge State Forest Campground

      Great Free spot

I would 100% stay here again. Hubby & i enjoyed it and was not busy at all. A family friendly place. I have a 16 ft long travel trailer and was great but i would not recommend anything bigger. There’s only 2 spots for travel trailers, camper van’s and the rest of the 6 spots are for tents. First come first serve. You can only stay here 3 nights max

      Mosquito Lake State Park Campground

Beautiful campground, choose your site wisely

When we arrived, we checked in at the camp office. The ladies there were very kind. The roads through the campground are wide enough for two-way traffic and nicely paved.

This is a beautiful, heavily treed campground. Even on Memorial Day weekend with lots of people, the park was very peaceful. The sounds of birds permeate the air round the clock. Chipmunks run amok. They’re just so cute.

We booked site 56 for our 39’ fifth wheel. As soon as we pulled up, we knew there was no way we’d fit even though the reservation site said it would accommodate a 40’ rig. The camp hosts happened to be passing by as we were surveying the site. They were very helpful redirecting us to a nearby site that would be more suitable. FYI, sites 55 and 56 have deep culverts on either side. One wrong turn and you’re going to have a problem. The majority of sites along our road were just wide enough to keep the tires out of the dirt, but not wide enough for the stairs to land on asphalt. If you have a motorhome or other wide-bodied rig, like an Alliance Paradigm, I would recommend choosing one of the sites on the loop around the playground. Those are better suited for newer big rigs.

TIP…the line at the dump station is long on the holiday weekends. Plan accordingly.

      Geneva State Park Campground

      Monster Campsites!

This park has huge campsites ! The pads are paved and they left a section of trees/woods behind each site to provide some privacy between neighbors. The bathrooms are very clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. The park is directly across the road from the paved bike trail which leads to the beach, marina, lodge and strip area. The trail is dog friendly but the beach is not. The campground is also pet friendly.

      Shenango Campground

      Huge COE

After getting off I80, our RV GPS wanted to take us on a wonky route, so we followed Waze and the campground’s(CG) web instructions that took us across the causeway on N. Hermitage Rd, then a right turn off on Birchwood Rd, which led us to take a left turn back across N. Hermitage Rd to get back to the Shenango Rec Area turn. Once we got to the CG, check in was quick and very easy. Just happened, our next door neighbor/camp host checked us in and told us we could get water off their site so we proceeded straight to site 199 that’s a back in with electric(50/30 AMP) only plus one of the better spaced sites in the CG. We had to maneuver a couple of times to get into the 90 degree site but the road was wide with no obstacles to prevent swinging into the site. We quickly found out that our 50 AMP connection had issues and after reporting it, a maintenance crew came within 20 minutes and fixed a bad breaker. We got 3 bars on Verizon and a handful of OTA channels. Due to the amount of mature trees, satellite would be iffy depending on your site. There are no FHU sites(camp host sites have electric& water). Electric sites are centrally grouped within the loops and spaced closer together than most COEs. The majority of the sites within this CG are dry camping and they too are fairly close together. The sites right on the lake were all dry camping. With all the dry camping sites in this CG, its nice that they allow generator use during non quiet hours. Quiet hours here are 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. There are water spigots periodically located within the loops and the CG map identifies where they are. There’s also a two-lane dump station located near the entrance but there is no potable water. There are signs stating no alcohol in the park, but people were openly drinking. We also noted that the contractors who clean the restroom/shower facilities start early in the morning and close the facility while cleaning, which was inconvenient for the dry campers just waking up. If we were to stay at this CG again, we’d come during the week and get a dry camping site on the water.

      Uncle Johns Elk Creek Campground

      Elk Creek Trailers Beautiful Campground

We stayed the night after picking up our new fifth wheel trailer in Boise. The staff at Elk Creek Trailers was helpful and the shuttle to the stores were convenient. Easy access for the trailers as well. Quiet and convenient. We found it to be the perfect stop on our way south so stayed again two weeks later. We camped at the river but still love Elk Creek Trailers when traveling in our travel trailer. We camped at Elk Creek Campground in a Travel Trailer.

      Follys End Campground

      Great No Frills Camp!

This place has an old time feel that me of good times past. The sites are generally spacious, and are gravel based. The driveway to the camp seemed to be recently paved. The owner is very friendly and is on site. Camp office was geared towards fishing but was very interesting. Bathrooms were clean and the grounds looked good. Was very quiet at night and generally even on the weekend. I have not seen prices this low before. Definitely will be back to try the trout fishing!

Pet friendly, propane available, WiFi available near office, AT&T service good, Large stream runs along the property, and it was a nice hike up it!

    Guide to Albion

Near Albion, Pennsylvania, campground elevations range from 760 to 1,100 feet above sea level with most RV sites situated around Lake Erie's southern shore area. The region experiences distinct seasonal changes with summer highs around 80°F and winter lows frequently below freezing. Camping options include both lakeside sites and wooded inland locations with varying degrees of cellular connectivity.

    What to do

Lake activities and fishing ponds: Several campgrounds feature private lakes and ponds for swimming or fishing. At Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground, campers can enjoy "swimming in the lake" with one reviewer noting it has "a small lake for swimming, playgrounds, pavillions, games, events, music etc."

Mini-golf courses: Some RV parks offer on-site mini-golf for family entertainment. A camper at Indian Creek RV Resort mentioned they "enjoyed their beautiful put-put course and ice cream stand," while another noted the resort has "lots of amenities. Hall, restaurant, pool, fitness center, activities center."

Local wineries: The Geneva area provides easy access to regional wineries from several campgrounds. One reviewer staying at Kenisee's Grand River Campground mentioned it was "Located within a matter of minutes to several wineries in the area" and was a good spot for a "girls weekend."

    What campers like

Clean facilities: Campers frequently comment on well-maintained bathhouses and grounds. A reviewer at Presque Isle Passage RV Park noted "Clean facilities, friendly, wooded, and many rentals including 2 yurts," though another mentioned sites "are not level and are close to each other."

Weekend activities: Many campgrounds schedule regular events for guests. At West Haven RV Park and Campground, one camper appreciated that "Jodie placed us in a very nice spot right next to huge freshly mowed field in the rear of the park... She came by later to check on us and see if we needed anything."

Spacious sites: Some campgrounds feature larger sites with added privacy. Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground received praise for its "beautiful scenic open spaces" and "level and quiet" sites, with another reviewer noting "sites were grassy and all utilities worked well."

    What you should know

Off-season limitations: Many campgrounds in the region operate seasonally. At RV Village Camping Resort, open from April 1 to October 31, campers mentioned they were grateful when "they took us in at last minute on Memorial Day weekend and then we got the greatest spot available."

Tent camping restrictions: Some parks cater primarily to RVs with limited tent options. One camper at West Haven RV Park noted "They were extremely nice and accommodating, but their idea of secluded and ours were very different. When we arrived our site was right next to others."

Highway noise: Proximity to major roads affects some campgrounds. A reviewer at Presque Isle Passage mentioned "the worst part is being so close to the gas station/truck stop. Very bright lights on all night. Also close to the highway so there is constant noise!"

    Tips for camping with families

Activity planning: Check the campground's event calendar before booking. Indian Creek RV Resort gets high marks from families, with one reviewer stating they offer "activities all day for all ages" and another noting they provide "craft kits for children to pick up and do at their own campsite."

Playground access: Select sites near play areas for convenience. A camper at Chestnut Ridge Park observed the campground has "a large play ground" and is "a beautiful space with the barn and lake."

Swimming options: Prioritize campgrounds with pools during summer. Kenisee's Grand River Campground received praise for its "swimming hole" which one reviewer described as "cool," making it a popular choice for families during hot weather.

    Tips from RVers

Site leveling: Bring leveling blocks as many sites require adjustment. At Mitchell Lake Campgrounds, which offers 11 RV sites with 50-amp and 30-amp electrical options, big rigs are accommodated but site conditions vary seasonally.

Electrical needs: Verify amperage before booking as options differ between parks. Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake receives positive feedback for its electrical service with one camper noting it "has 30 and 50 amp FHU back-in and pull-through sites," though they cautioned that "the only downside is the internet which is lacking in this area."

Traffic considerations: Some access roads require careful navigation. Indian Creek RV Resort has "gravel roads and relatively level gravel sites" with "good FHUs" according to one reviewer, making it manageable for larger motorhomes despite some traffic challenges during peak season.
