Valley of the Rogue State Park sits at approximately 900 feet elevation along Interstate 5, providing campers convenient access for overnight stays when traveling between California and Oregon. Located near the Rogue River, campgrounds in the Central Point region typically offer shade from oak trees with summer temperatures averaging 85-95°F during peak season. Winter camping remains available at select locations with occasional frost and temperatures dropping into the 30s.

What you should know
Noise considerations: Highway proximity affects some campgrounds. "We stayed in our van for $25 per night. The roadway within the park is paved and sites are paved or gravel with grass surrounding. All sites are fairly level and have plenty of room," reports Laura M. at Schroeder Park.
Reservation timing: During peak summer months, availability becomes limited. "We visited during the week in August and got the very last campsite available," shares Sara R. about Valley of the Rogue State Park.
Site selection: Consider specific site limitations when booking glamping close to Central Point, Oregon. "Unless you sleep on a cot by yourself, avoid site B2," warns Semi H. about Valley of the Rogue State Park.
Tips for camping with families
Playground access: Select campgrounds with dedicated play areas near glamping accommodations. "This large campground is off highway 62 at Lost Creek Lake. There are also multiple playgrounds and a large gorgeous dog park," explains Laura M. about Joseph H. Stewart County Park.
Swimming options: Medford Oaks RV Resort maintains dedicated swimming facilities. "The park is covered in oaks so there is lots of shade. Some pull through sites were not true pull through for bigger rigs so we had to back in to our sites," notes Yat-Yas G.
Educational programs: Some parks offer structured activities for children. "The park has a lot of nice features, including the river and hiking trails, it also has a kids program, campfire nights and the camp hosts are very helpful," mentions Semi H.
Tips from RVers
Hookup variations: Medford / Gold Hill KOA Journey provides various site options for different RV needs. "We were with an RV, very specious, all the hook ups. The pool wasn't open in the fall but there was a playground which was really fun for our kid," shares Adi Z.
Dumping stations: Valley of the Rogue State Park maintains clean waste disposal areas. "Water is good. T mobil and att work really well. There is also a separate dump station that is clean and well kept," reports Semi H.
Site size considerations: Many glamping accommodations near Central Point include larger RV sites. "Each site also has a grill, a picnic table, and a firepit. It's so quiet and empty and peaceful during the week, and then practically fills up on the weekends," explains Laura M. about Joseph H. Stewart County Park.
