Sunny Valley is a nice area surrounded by nature adventures. There are many day trip options such as Crater Lake, Umpqua Forest (known for its Hot Springs and many waterfalls), the coast, and of course the redwoods.
If you’re looking for adventures closer to your stay there are hiking trails, a ghost town, historical sites, swimming holes in the Galesville Reservoir or the Rogue River. Not to mention Zip lining, rafting, or the Oregon Vortex are all right here in the Rogue Valley.
Of course we have something for everyone here on site if you’re looking to get away and hangout amongst the trees. Our pool, Lawn Games, playground, and dog park make it ideal for large gatherings such as reunions of any kind. Our camp store is stocked with toys, treats, and locally made souvenirs. Our beautiful forested land is located in Southern Oregon in the small town of Cave Junction off the 199 Redwood Highway. The land which we call home is 100 acres of beautiful protected forest. The land Cedar Bloom sits upon a mile of the Illinois River. Each June we host over 1,000 women to the land for the Annual Spirit Weavers Gathering! This is our home and we are happy to share it with you! The river is just a few min walk down to our own private beach and swimming. The camp is also just a 3 minute walk to the lands pristine swimming hole. These A-Frame Cabins are super cozy at 1000sf with an additional deck that is great for yoga or napping. The cabins include two twin size mattresses and linen bedding. This camp is a 1 minute walk to the main house, private commercial kitchen, cute compost toilet, shower house and sauna. These cabins are ideal for two people. The front part of the cabin can be closed off or opened up to the elements. Since one side of the cabin is clear you can see in a bit but can also drape something over for more privacy. The reason for the clear side to is allow for the feeling of sleeping right outside amongst nature. Cedar Bloom has available power and cell phone service. Cell phone service works great if you have AT&T or Verizon. Internet is limited but is available.We have several giant meadows with thousands of trees surrounding. We are right on the Illinois River with a mile of river frontage and 3 incredible swim spots. It's a great place to come and recharge and renew. We are surrounded by beautiful scenery in all directions! We are close to the Redwoods, The Oregon Caves and so much more. We are close to major cities such as Grants Pass, Medford, Crescent City and Ashland. MORE ABOUT CEDARBlOOM… Cedar Bloom was purchased in the spring of 2017 by Spirit Weavers Gathering as a place of peace and healing, for all walks of life. Spirit Weavers is an annual womens gathering which happens once a year each June. We host over 1,000 women in just two weeks on the land. We are located on the Illinois River just outside Cave Junction, Oregon. Our Main House was built in 1962 and retains the flavor of the 60’s with a beautiful Mid Century Modern feel. It houses a kitchen, dining hall, a living room, five bedrooms and three bathroom with a bathtub. It currently houses Agustin and Mea and their seven year old daughter Naia. FIRST NATIONS PEOPLE OF THE ILLINOIS VALLEY For thousands of years, the Takelma people lived in the Illinois and Rogue River valleys, what is now known as Josephine County. They lived in small bands close to the land. Interior southwest Oregon has pronounced seasons and the ancient Takelma adapted to these seasons by spending spring, summer and early fall months collecting and storing food for the winter season. Salmon was central to their food source and way of life. The salmon diet was supplemented by game, such as deer, elk, beaver, bear, antelope and bighorn sheep. Smaller mammals, such as squirrels, rabbits and gophers, might have been snared by both men and women. They gathered the root of the Camas plant, part of the asparagus family, as well as acorns from the two native species of Oaks, the Oregon white oak and California black oak. Other vegetation included manzanita berries, pine nuts, tarweed seeds, wild plums and sunflowers. The Takelma are also known to have cultivated a native tobacco plant, but otherwise relied on the fruits of the wilderness for their survival. The main utensils included horn, bone and wood-made implements and a great variety of baskets constructed generally by twining on a hazel warp. Stone was used in the making of arrowheads and pestles. The clothing and personal adornment of the Takelma was similar to the tribes of northern California. Notable characteristics include facial painting, red-headed woodpecker scalps for men and basket caps for women. The women also tattooed the skin in three stripes and men tattooed the left arm. European Settlement of the Illinois Valley began by the 1830’s, as the gold and logging industries developed. By the end of 1856, the traditional residents of the Rogue and Illinois River valleys were forcibly removed and relocated to the Siletz Reservation on the central Oregon coast. The Takelma were joined on the reservations by their neighbors, the Athapaskans and the Shasta, as well as tribes from even farther away, such as the Coos and Tillamook. It is reported that by 1906 less than ten Takelma were alive and able to speak their native language.In 1994, for the first time in over 140 years, an ancient ceremony took place to welcome home and give thanks for the returning salmon, on the Kanaka Flats of the Applegate River. People of all heritages were welcomed at the annual Salmon Gathering on the Applegate River until 2006. In 2007, the ceremony was moved to the place where it was held for thousands of years: the Tilomikh(Powerhouse Falls), on the Rogue River near Gold Hill, Oregon. Since then, the ceremony has taken place annually in its traditional location, demonstrating that the Takelma culture is alive and will continue into the future. Today, Takelma descendents continue to reside on or near the Siletz and Grand Ronde reservations. The Pilgrims brought back the Salmon Ceremony to Southern Oregon. Due to the Pilgrim’s contribution in returning the Salmon Ceremony to Jackson County, Agnis Baker-Pilgrim is known to some locals as the‘Keeper of the Sacred Salmon Ceremony. Agnes, one of the oldest grandmothers of the International Council of the 13 Indigenous Grandmothers, has returned to the Rogue Valley and today her voice can be heard strong and clear, proving that the spirit and blood of her people are still with us. PLANT& ANIMAL RELATIONS We are very fortunate to be surrounded by a widely diverse population of flora and fauna. As caretakers of this sacred land, we feel a strong responsibility to honor our plant and animal allies by not only protecting them and their habitat, but also to help educate others about what lives and grows here by providing people with opportunities to experience the beauty of these plants and animals for themselves. For this reason, We are honored to host the many different groups who will gather here on this land for learning and communing with the nature that flourishes here. The animals here include, but are not limited to deer, foxes, coyote, raccoon, skunks, and sometimes black bear though we havent seen any yet! The Land is a no-hunting zone so the animals here are abudant and safe. The plant life here is incredibly diverse. This land is home to many native grasses, ferns, and berries, wild flowers, as well as many other edible and medicinal plants and fungi such as mugwort, self-heal, soap root, and a variety of mushrooms. The tree population is a blend of hardwoods like Manzanita, Madrone, and several kinds of Oaks along with mature Fir, Pine, Cedar trees, Alder, Maple and Apples. With special attention to management of non-native and invasive plants, Spirit Weavers is committed to maintaining a well balanced forest ecosystem with high biodiversity. TIMES Please clean up and check out of your site by 12:am on the day of your departure. You can check in by 2:pm on the day of your arrival. CLIMATE& THE ILLINOIS VALLEY Cedar Bloom holds the heart during the summer. Temps can range from 75-95 during the day and generally cools down to the 70's during the evenings. Swimming in the summer months is delicious. We have mostly pebbly beaches and a jagged rock and sand beach right where the Swimming hole is. The river is chilly until late June and it cools down again in late September. NEIGHBORS There is another campground right next door but since we have 100 acres, you never really see a soul besides us! Please use our pathways to travel property next to us, and respect the privacy and tranquility of our neighbors by not keeping late hours or playing loud music. EMERGENCIES If someone needs to reach you in an emergency, Cell phones work great on the land. If you don't get service and need to contact someone our land phones are available. SHOWER HOUSE& SAUNA We have twelve showers total. The first shower house is open showering with 4 showers and the 2nd shower house has 8 stalls. You are also welcome to use the sauna throughout your stay. COMPOST TOILET The"Honeydew Station" is our two chamber composting toilet. It looks like a tiny house and you will see it on your right as you drive in. Instructions are inside! FOOD& WATER Please bring your own food to camp. Town is close so if you need to run errands to grab food its a short drive away. All of our water is on a well and is super clean and ran through a UV light. Please keep food and garbage out of the reach and smell of animals so we don’t have animal visitors at night. GARBAGE If you pack it in, please pack it out when you leave. FIRES Depending on the time of year, cooking fires are permissible in the fire pits provided. June-Sept there can sometimes be fire bans in the county. Please NO bonfires. We have fire wood in the forest around the meadow for use for cooking fires but please bring your own wood to the land. We also have wood available for purchase in the Camp Store. PETS If you must bring your pet, please message us before hand. We ask that you clean up after your pup while here. We have doggie bags in the camp store. THE RIVER & SWIMMING HOLES We have a mile of river frontage and there is tons of space for all. Keiki Beach located down the trail from the sauna is the more shallow and flatter part of the river. This is a great spot for families and doggies! Mermaid Rock which is located down the trail to your left of the main house is our large swimming hole with deeper waters. This part of the river is clothing optional. Please be aware of the rocks down at Mermaid Rock& Dock. The rocks are tricky to walk on for both adults and especially children. Please keep your eyes on your children at all times while at the river. Feel free to bring rafts to play on. CAMP STORE If you happen to forget anything we have a camp store that is located in the main meadow. The Camp store sells everything from supplies to books and trinkets. If you text Mea she can meet you there anytime. GRATITUDE We feel honored to be stewards of this land. One of our main visions for this land is to protect its cultural and environmental heritage. We are excited to share about the native food forest we will be cultivating for the local community and beyond. We will also be placing the land into a conservation trust so no logging or future development can occur. This is a great place to stay that has all you could need! Cell reception, WiFi, pool, hot tub, Ashland is like 5 minutes away, restrooms, even a sauna! Clothing is optional in the pool area let at night so be aware if you’re not into that or have kids. tent sites aren’t separated meaning you pitch your tent in an area where everyone else does. Other than that, I Highly recommend!
LegendWe like to pick campgrounds that have extra amenities, like hot tubs or saunas. This one has both. The spa area is a nice add on to your stay. The facilities are old and therefore feel gritty. Which is the feeling that matches the campground. To get to the RV parking you have to drive/walk by the tent campers, which even off season, felt like those staying there permanently live in their tents and cars. Behind the RV parking is the area where full time residents live, which is also a bit rough. We didn’t feel unsafe, but we definitely didn’t feel like hanging out outside our RV or letting the kids play on the playground. If you go, don’t expect a resort. Think transient hippies and you’ll have your expectations aligned closer to reality.

Travelersuch a gem of a campground! you can camp in your tent, RV, one of their awesome cabins or a teepee! The swimming hole is amazing complete with a waterfall and there are even two cool goats Vinnie and Frankie who live there. The staff are incredibly friendly. Our family has claimed this as our favorite KOA over all we have stayed at across the nation.
ScoutWe were here for a quick overnight in our 24' travel trailer. The place is very nice with tent, cabin, and RV sites. Our site was partial HU but they do have full HU sites. Bathrooms and showers were clean. It's close to I-5 bit the road noise was not bad and a chorus of frogs throughout the evening distracts from it. We were in spot 67 which was spacious and offered a great deal of privacy. Picnic table and fire pit on site. The nearby covered bridge is neat to see.
LegendThe camping area is a couple of “meadows” or grassy backyard and you pick a spot to place your tent. The camping fee includes 1 person in the “spring”. If there are 2 people they charge $25/tent and the 2nd person is an additional $15 and dogs are $5. A bit steep for camping in a meadow without a designated area. There were several picnic tables and I was lucky to get one. I don’t know that I’d feel comfortable camping here alone. The “spring” is a pool and a jacuzzi type set up. It’s ok but I prefer the hot springs that are a bit more natural. Also, after 6pm clothing is optional. The drinking water and shower water smell like sulfur which is a bit nauseating. The big plus is that Ashland is 2 miles down the road. There are quite a few long term people and it’s not very organized so it feels a bit dirty. My friend that I was with said he felt like he was sleeping in a junkyard.

We spent a weekend at Lake Selmac camping in our RV with our four kiddos. The hosts were incredibly kind and helpful. The new Owners of the Marina were wonderful as well. The campsites were all so beautiful with all the amenities one may want. You really felt removed from the world while there BUT not to far from a grocery store that has all you need. Boat rentals are cheap and very easy to access. I highly recommend this place!

No it is not perfect. It is close to Hwy 5 so a lot of road noise. But most in this area are. Sites are tight like most KOAs. We chose an end spot and did alright. Plus it was quiet part of year. Many year around residents but was not cluttered. Also sort of kept the short term rentals separate. Nice country location. Good green space to walk dogs. Did not get harassed for walking dogs off leash. We r responsible pet owners. Great laundry room. A little expensive for laundry. Pool table and Pac-Man was used by families. Very clean facilities and flexible manager on when we chose to leave.

We were going to be there for an extended period of time and they asked us to move our tent around to spot so we didn't kill the already dead grass... it was the middle of August in Oregon everything is dry and dead. Closed both bathrooms at the same time every day, why not close one and then the other? clean bathrooms though, nice pool. Small play area for kids.

Willow lake is a nice lake for a good summertime day in Oregon! It’s not too far away from Medford… we’ll, about an hour. A good boating, kayaking, paddle boarding lake that’s family friendly. Good fishing as well. The lake gets pretty busy in the summer months, so get there early. The campground is pretty populated and almost always full. The bathrooms are clean and there’s always staff around to help.

Great boating lake for water sports, good fishing, excellent hiking and great campsites and in nearby campgrounds not listed on The Dyrt yet, you can get some really secluded sites that are just beautiful... but do not expect more than an outhouse and a spigot, a picnic table (maybe a bear box?) and fire-ring- which to me is PHENOMENAL camping. Fresh water, a bathroom and nature. Works!
The Willow Lake County Park offers more amenities though and great wilderness. Its a beautiful little gem and gets amazing weather- from warm and sunny to random rainy thunderstorms that do not last long. Truly God-sent sunsets and sunrises.

ScoutI car camped here based on another person's review. To add to her's I did not use a free shower unless you are able to get the code for the bathrooms at the campground from another camper then you can take a free shower. This facility offers RV camping, tps, and I'm open field for tent camping. The facility itself offers a hot soaking pool at 120 degrees that is fed from the hot springs, and a pool that is about 75°. They have restrooms, showers, and private bath houses that you can rent. There are a few snacks and locally made items inside the office. I do have drinking water and free bathroom use around the back side of the building. For car camping there is no shade just a gravel parking lot. There's also an older mobile home park in this area that is separated by a fence from the main facility which is where I can't. I felt safe I did however go stealth camping out of habit.
There are walking trails around the property including a gigantic garden of veggies and flowers. I did pay $15 for a half day use, 9:30 to 4:30, of the hot soaking & regular pools. You are allowed to bring food and drink in just no glass.
Ashland Oregon is known for Shakespeare festival, it is a liberal artsy free love type of town

General: This RV Park is conveniently located between Grants Pass and the Oregon Caves National Monument, which is why we chose it.
Site Quality: All RV sites are FHU and level, and the road and camper pads are a dirt/gravel mix. There is also a tent area. Some sites back up to the road with loud road noise but you will hear some road noise from all sites. Some sites (ours included) back up to the Illinois River with a filtered view through the trees. Typical RV layout and although there are plentiful trees throughout, there is little separation/privacy between sites.
Bath/Shower House: Women’s was clean with three stalls (one was out of order) and two showers. There were no hooks on the stall doors so make sure you look underneath before opening a door! Did not use the shower.
Activities/Amenities: Other than the caves, we could not find much to do in the off-season. There is direct river access but in mid-October, the weather no longer cooperated for water activities. There are some nearby wineries. There is a laundry room but did not use it. Our first night was very different from the second. The first, It appeared we were only one of two “campers” and that everyone else was a month-to-month resident but by the second night, all river sites were occupied (in advance of the Eclipse).
The owners were very welcoming. I asked how the RV park got its name and was told the owners love alpacas. Unfortunately for us, they had already been relocated to a warmer climate for the season. In warmer weather, we would have enjoyed interacting with the alpacas and getting out on the river.

Now branded as Smoke on the Water, the former Lake Selmac Resort is one of Oregon's first cannabis-friendly campgrounds. The tent camping area is shaded by huge, old pines and firs, keeping your tent fairly pleasant even on a hot day. There are electrical hookups and some limited RV spots, as well as picnic tables and fire rings. Along one side is a fence separating the campground from a neighboring property.
The whole campground is right across the main road from Lake Selmac. There is some traffic noise at night, but very little. This is a small town and the road isn't very busy late. You're more likely to hear the wild turkeys calling or a bullfrog down by the lake. There's a nice dock and plenty of toys to enjoy the water. You can take out a paddleboat, kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, or inner tubes. You can also just sit on the shore or fish.
There's also a large lawn area at the campground that is great for larger gatherings, as is the thee sided barn on the property. While basic, the restrooms are clean and accessible with showers. There's also laundry facilities and a general store on site. The signs say no alcohol is allowed, only cannabis, but they do sell beer in the general store along with food and other basic supplies. If there's something you need that the store doesn't have, town isn't far away. Eventually the owners intend to have a dispensary on site, too, though right now you'll have to plan ahead.
Despite those private campground perks, this isn't a hazy party spot, however. Tou don't have to partake to feel welcome or have a positive experience here. Everyone seems nice and respectful, and the campground host makes the rounds and keeps up with chores like taking out the trash on the regular. In addition to the campground host, the owner is sometimes on site as well in the living area behind the general store. The hospitality is genuine and you can tell that management really cares about making Smoke on the Water as inviting, comfortable, and pleasant as possible.
------- Product Review -------
As a Ranger for The Dyrt, I get products to test from time to time - on this trip I got to test out the OOFOS Women's OOmg Black and Black Shoe.
This is one of OOFOS's first closed-toe offerings, providing the same support from their proprietary sole design and foam recipe as their sport slide sandals and clogs. The OOmg shoe upper is a breathable mesh sock, not unlike water shoes, but softer. The sole is thick enough that you don't feel the ground beneath you, yet somehow is also soft enough to sink into, all while feeling supported. I appreciate the way the sole encourages a heel-strike gait and takes the pressure off my toes. I have very high arches and experience frequent foot pain after walking and hiking. OOFOS felt like they were realigning my feet and I did feel a lot of relief after trying them all weekend.
While OOFOS are intended as a "recovery shoe" you slip on after you're done working out in your sneakers, I found they work really well as an all around leisure shoe. I wore them all weekend while I was camping, and they remained ultra comfortable even in very hot weather that caused my feet and legs to swell up. They were breathable, provided good traction, and stayed aligned with my feet despite plenty of moving around on my part and experiencing different temperatures throughout the day.
Since this first weekend trying OOFOS at Lake Selmac, I've worn my OOmg around town to run weekend errands, on a hike to the top of Spencer Butte in Eugene (quite the uphill slog), to ease foot pain after a day in heels, during a long day in the car without cruise control. In every setting they've remained comfortable, supportive, and don't seem to wear down even after hours of my weight pressing into the foam. They clean up easily and seem really durable. They lack some of the traction and control sneakers or hiking boots would on steep descents, but are perfectly adequate for casual tromping around.
The only downside I can find with my OOFOS OOmg is that the heel is made of a harder rubber substance than the mesh upper or foam sole. I assume this is to help give the shoe some structure and keep your foot where it needs to be. If you're like me, however, and sometimes put your shoes on in a hurry and step on the heel and sort of slip on your shoes like they're clogs, you might mash down that hard material and either wrinkle it or find it doesn't bounce back. If you smoosh it too much, it could kind of get stuck in a way that rubs uncomfortably or blisters a bit. So always be sure to tug the heel part of your OOmg up all the way and finish putting on your shoes so they stay the right shape.
Overall, I'm really happy to have a pair of OOFOS in my closet and I'm definitely bringing them on all my camping trips. They're so lightweight they go right in my pack and I don't have to worry about my feet getting tired of my one pair of hiking boots or sneakers. These are perfect for when you need to get up and poke the fire real quick and don't want to shove your feet back into a more fitted pair of lace-up shoes that you were already wearing all day.

TravelerThis park is only a couple miles from town yet seems like you’re a world away. Plenty of shade too. The sites are kinda close but if you can get a site right on the river, it feels like you have much more room. Probably my favorite RV park in the Grants Pass area.
GuideAbout 1/3 of the campsites are adjacent to the Rogue river and all of the others have a view of the river. The Wi-Fi is acceptable, they have cable TV, full hook ups and well maintained property.
The other campers are mostly travelers and respectful. Nothing negative to experience.
