Nice campground. Central to a lot of stuff.

We enjoyed our stay here. We had a nice space with decent trees for shade and putting up some lights. We could easily drive in to Madras...or to the Crooked River Canyon to go bungee jumping!!!!  We also took a nice drive out east in the hills. Firewood was a bit steep, at $8/bundle.

OK site, nice lake, small sites

First two nightsThursday Friday were quite. Sites are small and better set up for tents instead of Trailers. There were these jerks screaming the entire night on Saturday until 4 am. Many people left early on Sunday because of it. The lake had hazardous warning signs. I won’t be back, I prefer boondocking.

Hazardous water

We were able to get first come first serve which was so nice but when going to the camp host to pay they told us that we should not go in the water. A couple of people where paddle boarding and they ended up with blisters on there feet from the water. Also the smell of dead fish is in the air about mid day. Plus side it had a beautiful sunset and a great paved areas for kids to run around and play.

Absolutely beautiful, but killer skeeters!!!

Such a beautiful campground, next to Haystack reservoir out among the junipers and sage brush. Lots of really nice campsites on a hillside. They have firewood for sale here. The mosquitos are absolutely awful. There were 4 really decent pit toilets.

Good wind for windsurfing

This campground is close to Smith Rock and Bend.  Good exposure for wind for wind or kitesurfing. The campground is mediocre at best with lots of mosquitoes at least in June.  Seems to have a fair amount of open campsites if you need to stay a night but would not recommend as a destination.

Quiet, close to Smith Rock

Our experience here was a quiet one, and we chose the campground for its proximity to Smith Rock, which I had never been to, and as a dark spot from which to watch the Perseid meteor shower. In those two ways, the campground worked pretty well! Unfortunately, the lake was in the midst of an algae bloom, so not ideal for swimming and we saw no one on the lake. There was also a fire ban in place at the time.

Nice boat ramp for small reservoir!

Nice boat ramp for a small reservoir. Has bathrooms. Have to pay to use boat ramp & Park. Decent fishing some of the time. Seen some massive(21&19 inches) trout be caught here! Has some bass and sucker fish. Has a spot against the back side of reservoir where people like to cliff jump into water.

Overall nice small place to fish-water is for the most part clean for swimming too.
