    Hueston Woods State Park Campground

it used to be so much better

the campground is seriously in need of some tlc and they have gotten rid of the deer exhibit and replaced it with a dog park which is sad because my family spent a few hours each trip just petting and feeding the deer before. also the nature center isn’t what it used to be. bathrooms are always nasty. it’s sad because this used to be our go to campground.

    East Fork State Park Campground

    Overall great state park

Generous sized campsites, a lot of them are wooded which we prefer, with around 400 sites there are plenty to choose from! Bathroom/shower facilities are updated and usually well maintained. There is a large public beach but it's on the other side of the park so you have to drive all the way around to get to it, no short cuts. They have a camp ground beach but it's been closed the last 2 years. Lots of hiking trails, bridal trails and a bike path. Wish list for this park: Boat rental, dog park, dog beach/water access. Overall a beautiful park.

The Landing at Bear Creek RV Park

    Work in Progress

This is newly opened and a lot of work still needs to be done. Currently there is no dog park, hiking trails or bathhouses like it states. Many of the spots aren’t even finished yet.

When looking at the camp map don’t plan on having access to the creek or river. Your lucky if you can even view it.

The ground is all sand. So while if it rains you won’t get muddy, but the sand is a pain and gets everywhere.

    Follow The River RV Resort

    Great stay

Very friendly staff. The bathrooms having regular working toilets and showers. The bathrooms are very nice. There is a pool, volleyball courts and a dog park. It is hot in June, so bring a canopy if your RV doesn’t have one.

    Hueston Woods State Park Campground

    Great for anyone!

We love camping here! Whether it's tent camping, group camping, RV, cabin, or lodge accommodations they can fill all your needs. Very large park with playgrounds, fishing, swimming, creek access, dog park, archery practice area or walk over to the damn. The bathrooms could use a little better cleaning but all in all it's a great park! We come often and camp at least once a year! Highly recommended.

    Lebanon-Cincinnati NE KOA

    Fantastic Place

This KOA sets the bar for the Ohio locations we have visited. The bathrooms are amazing and private. The tent site we had was huge and there were actually trees for our suspended tent and hammocks. The dog park wasn’t huge, but larger than most. The campground was completely full but still quiet and peaceful. The staff are amazing.

Three Springs Campground and RV Park

    Beautiful in all weather!

We didn't let the rainy Kentucky weather disrupt our weekend getaway! We stayed warm and dry inside Page's cabin. Uphill trails are spectacular, with plenty of pet friendly areas.

    Hueston Woods State Park Campground

    Amazing.

I’ve been camping here every summer since I was a child. There is always a lot to do for all age groups. They’ve also added in a dog park which is perfect for my fur babies! There’s plenty of trails for hiking and adventuring. Archery range, plenty of spots to fish and keep everyone occupied! Love this campground and will continue to come back for many years to come!

What to do

Bison viewing at Big Bone Lick: Visitors can observe a live bison herd at Big Bone Lick State Historic Site Campground, where the animals are maintained in a dedicated viewing area. Kayaking at Stonelick Lake: The 200-acre lake offers multiple put-in points for personal watercraft near camping areas. As Craig C. describes, "This is a great park in southern Ohio, easy to reach, 20 minutes off the interstate 275. There are a number of good sites, but some with a significant slope that leveling would be an issue."

Urban hiking on paved trails: Jim Terrell Park connects directly to the 76-mile regional bike path network. "This campsite is tucked away as in across the street from the bike trail. As a Milford native, I didn't even know it was here for a long time," explains Kenpocentaur K.

What campers like

Clean, accessible bath facilities: East Fork State Park Campground maintains modern restrooms throughout the camping season. Andrea F. explains: "The park was very clean and maintained. Trails were well marked and the camp hosts were very friendly. We were there over Labor Day weekend and it was a quiet park except for the occasional golf cart late at night going by."

Educational opportunities: The natural history museum and exhibits provide context for the unique geological features. One camper noted at Big Bone Lick: "This is a small and simple park with a lot of opportunities to learn. There are a lot of little trails the criss cross each other and a lot of informational signs and a little museum."

Concrete pads at waterfront sites: Tucker's Landing offers level concrete foundations with river views. Joel L. shares: "Nice spot. Level concrete pad with nice views up the river. Staff were very helpful when we had issues with our truck and moved our truck camper with us."

Pet-friendly yurt options: Specialized pet-accommodating yurts are available at select campgrounds near Bromley. These structured canvas accommodations typically include elevated wooden platforms with electricity and often feature nearby dedicated pet exercise areas.

What you should know

Site leveling challenges: Many campgrounds in the region have significant grade variations requiring proper equipment. At A.J. Jolly Park & Campground, Bobby C. notes: "I'm in a class a 35 foot motorhome. The sites I'm at are on a hillside so think theatrical style site. None are level looking so you will need to know what your doing to level your rig."

Seasonal site availability: Most dog friendly campgrounds around Bromley operate with limited availability from November through March. Several parks close entirely during winter months, with most reopening by April 1st.

Wildlife encounters: Raccoons are particularly active at campgrounds in this region. One camper at Miami Whitewater Forest warned: "Beware of sneaky raccoons. River access down path behind lot 129."

Campground location versus attractions: At certain properties, main facilities are separated from camping areas. Karen J. explains: "The State Park is on one side of the Lake and the Campground is on the other. There is no public road between the two. The campground is nice but it's an extremely long walking distance to the lake."

Tips for camping with families

Playgrounds within view: Miami Whitewater Forest Campground offers sites with direct sightlines to play areas. Renee S. shares: "What a great place to have our first camping experience with our children! Each site came with a fire ring and picnic table bench. It was pitch black at night around the campground, but the bathroom facilities were well lit and very clean. There's an absolutely wonderful playground inside the campground."

Children's programming: Several dog-friendly campgrounds near Bromley offer ranger-led activities for youth during peak season. Programs typically include nature identification walks, junior ranger certifications, and evening presentations at amphitheaters.

Mini-golf options: Multiple parks maintain 9-hole courses suitable for young players. Suzy M. explains: "There is a museum and playground located on the property. You will also find a lake and a field with bison. The pool is tiny. There is also miniture golf available."

Water play areas: Several campgrounds feature dedicated splash zones separate from swimming beaches. These zero-depth water features typically operate from Memorial Day through Labor Day with limited hours.

Tips from RVers

Hook-up locations: Be prepared for unusual utility placement at some campgrounds. Jeffrey D. shares about A.J. Jolly Park: "Water hook ups are on the opposite side of electrical on several sites."

Urban convenience: Winton Woods Campground Hamilton County Park provides quick access to city amenities while maintaining natural surroundings. Jeremy K. states: "Great campground and park. Plenty to do. Hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, splash park, etc. Our only complaint would be no shade at the section we were in. Campground was super clean and quiet. Bathhouses were very clean. Entrance was gated. Nice campstore."

Pull-through access: Several dog-friendly campgrounds near Bromley offer extended pull-through sites for larger rigs. These sites typically range from 60-80 feet in length with gravel surfaces and 30/50 amp electrical service.
