    Hocking River RV Park

Scenic, easy in/out and on the river

Stayed here 4 nights, pull through spots require a little bit of maneuvering with big rig (43’ fifth wheel). There was some mud where camper wheels were situated in the spot (needs material). Fire rings are not near RV but behind across the road on the river. Bath house is just ok - not great, not gross. Close proximity to lots of hiking but Hocking Hills itself has become so crowded… don’t come if you want to get away from people.

    Hocking Hills KOA Holiday

    Great first time KOA experience

We have never stayed at a KOA before and were very happy with this campground. The staff were friendly and professional, the sites were clean, and there were a wide variety of sites to choose from. From primitive tent sites tucked back in the woods to large RV sites with water/sewer/electric/cable hookups. We are first-time owners of a 29 ft Fifth Wheel and got a pull-through site. It offered little in the way of privacy, which was the only negative about the whole experience. Our site included a fire ring and a picnic table, along with all the hook ups. The night we arrived we were too tired to cook so ordered a pizza from the front office and they delivered it to our site. They also deliver wood directly to you. They escort you directly to your site so you don't get lost or go down a one-way road the wrong way. There was a nice little pool, but it wasn't open for the season yet. The shower houses were immaculate. The front office includes a little gift shop, ice cream, and pizza. This campground was also located close (within a few miles) to all the main hiking trails, and about 12 miles from Logan. The little road going up to the campground is VERY bumpy. It's not the campground road, it belongs to the Township, so its completely out of their ability to make improvements. This was only our second time out in our fifth wheel camper so it was a little scary, but we just drove slow and our truck handled it just fine. We will definitely be back to this wonderful campground as we love Hocking Hills.

    Hocking Hills State Park Campground

    Great Ohio State Park Campground

Amazing trails walkable right from the campground. Old mans cave, upper & lower falls. Bathroom was clean. Showers were ok. My site 108 was not deep, but was wide. Great for my 5X9 travel trailer, but probably not good for a big rig. Shaded & right near the shower house was a plus.

    Big Sycamore Family Campground

    Great small family campground

We enjoyed our 3 night stay here! Some sites are full hook up, some sites are electric and water, and some are primitive. The dump station is easily accessible if you need it. 5 acres with everything we could need. The owners were amazing. Very friendly and helpful! They had only owned the campground for 2 weeks and were in the process of making several improvements. The shower house and bathrooms were clean and adequate. There is a small playground for kids. It is pet friendly. There is a nice sized pool for summer (we camped in October so it was closed for the season). Located within a short drive (about 10 miles/15 minutes) from everything Hocking Hills has to offer. There is even a restaurant close by that will deliver to your campsite. Kroger and Walmart are within 5-7 minutes driving for supplies. The only downside is that it is close to a highway so at night you can hear the traffic. This didn’t bother us so much but might be a problem for some.

    Carthage Gap

A real slice of American camping

This is a fantastic camp ground, the owners Chris and Teresa are fantastic people and the grounds are just majestic. Sitting above two fishing lakes, one you can swim in during the summer the campground is peaceful and tranquil and next to some amazing woodland.

The camping ground caters all campers and rv’s and has full sewer hook up and water. Wash houses with showers, toilets and washing machine and dryer is available. You can have firewood delivered daily, you propane refilled and Chris and Teresa are always there to help you. this is on top of the events pavilion where something is always on. A basket ball court and two playgrounds make this ideal for family’s. On season event calendar includes archery clinics and annual hog roast and more.

the grounds are 30 minutes away from the Wayne national forest and Athens and parkersburg. The beautiful Marietta and hocking valley hills sit an hour away. Simply breathtaking

    Burr Oak Cove Campground

    Nice little campsite

Cool little campground. First come first served with no reservations accepted. The sites are clean with picnic tables and fire rings and can accommodate small RVs. There are a couple of vault style outhouses, dump stations and a couple of water stations as well. No electric or water hookups, though. Came on a Thursday and there were only two sites occupied so it was nice and quiet even though there is a bit of road noise from the nearby roads. There’s also an easy 1 mile trail down to Burr Cove proper. The sites are $15 ($10 in the off season when the water is turned off) and you pay at an honor box at the entrance once you pick your spot.

Guide to Guysville

Camping options near Guysville, Ohio include both established RV campgrounds and riverside sites nestled within the Appalachian foothills. Located at elevations ranging from 580 to 720 feet above sea level, the area experiences distinct seasonal changes with humid summers averaging 85°F and winter temperatures frequently dropping below freezing. The region contains multiple watersheds including the Hocking River and Ohio River tributaries where riverside camping opportunities are concentrated.

What to do

River activities: Access kayak rentals from Riversedge Campground where staff provide drop-off service upstream. "They rent kayaks and canoes so if you have time take a trip down the river," notes Eric S. about the riverside experience.

Hiking excursions: Explore new trails near camping areas. Riversedge Campground recently expanded their offerings as one visitor mentioned, "They just purchased 62 acres for hiking across the road," providing additional recreation options beyond water activities.

Water recreation: Try unconventional activities at Lakeview RV Park where visitors can enjoy their small swimming lake. According to Robin R., the park offers "Canoe rental and jet pack 'skiing'" for those seeking unique water experiences.

What campers like

Riverfront tent sites: Experience camping directly on waterways at Riversedge Campground where campers appreciate the proximity to water. "Our tent was right on the river and Kelli was the best host ever! On our last day she brought us warm cinnamon rolls and coffee. We enjoyed them by our fire as we watched the mist gently float over the water," shares Eric S.

Quiet environment: Find peaceful settings despite proximity to towns. Salena reports about Riversedge: "We stayed at one of the riverside tent sites. It was beautiful!!! The sites are well maintained & the bathrooms are clean."

Budget-friendly options: Save on riverside camping at Harris RV Park. "Right on the Ohio River. Tight spots, but pretty level... Did I mention we're right on the Ohio River with full hookup for $25 a night?! Full hookup alone is worth more than 25 bucks," notes Clean Slate D.

What you should know

Weather considerations: Plan for potential storms that can impact camping experiences. One Hocking River RV Park visitor noted: "Power went out the second [night] but that wasn't their fault as a storm knocked a tree down."

River access challenges: Check bank conditions before planning water activities. Despite riverfront locations, some campgrounds have limited access points. Joseph E. mentions about Hocking River RV Park: "Fishing is ok but the banks of the river are high."

Traffic noise levels: Select sites strategically to avoid highway disruption. "Right on the river, which is interesting, but it's also right alongside State Route 33, so you hear freeway traffic constantly. Trucks and motorcycles woke me up all night," advises Megan M. about riverside camping locations.

Payment options: Bring appropriate payment methods as some smaller RV campgrounds near Guysville have specific requirements. "Cash or Check only," reminds one Harris RV Park reviewer.

Tips for camping with families

Activity planning: Consider on-site amenities when traveling with children. One camper at Hocking River RV Park cautions: "No playground which made camping with kids very uneventful for them."

Site selection: Choose larger sites when camping with family groups. "The sites are very close together- one family moved in late at night practically on top of me- their tent was literally 4 feet from my picnic table," warns a Hocking River RV Park visitor.

Father-son getaways: Plan special trips at Blennerhassett RV Park where personal service enhances the experience. Ken P. shares: "We chose rivers edge for our annual father son getaway and we were not disappointed. The tent sites are right next to the water and there is a beach and dock nearby also."

Tips from RVers

Maneuverability considerations: Plan site approaches carefully at RV campgrounds near Guysville where larger rigs require strategy. Aysia C. notes about Hocking River RV Park: "This small and cost effective campground is so awesome!" while another camper mentions specific site information: "Sites 26 and 27 are real small and private. Big enough for a pop up."

Quick overnight stops: Utilize convenient locations with easy highway access. "We stopped for an overnight on our way north," mentions one Harris RV Park visitor, while Stockport RV Park receives praise for being in a "quiet little town" with staff who are "awesome people, a pleasure doing business."

Water fill-up logistics: Plan accordingly for campgrounds with limited water access points. Joseph E. explains: "The water is after you pull in so you have to pull in fill up and go back around to your spot."
