    Great park on Lake Sakakawea

While there were very few tent sites available, we had our choice of sites as we were the only tent campers. Bathrooms were great, the trails around the lake were great and the food at the marina was OK. This park is surrounded by beautiful lakes and fields of wheat. Shower was great.

    Beautiful N.D campground

First visit here, nice campground and layout. Park staff was very nice and friendly. Beautiful views of Missouri River. We stayed in the TeePee this visit but plan on coming back for tent camping. Only complaints were the long haul from the parking area, the vaulted toilets smelt very bad but could of been from the heat! (Vaulted toilet, no sink) And the bugs!!! Tons of flying ants and ticks everywhere, but we managed!

    Quiet, off the beaten track

This was a quick one night stop for me along the road. It’s very nice and quiet. There is a camp host but I didn’t meet them. Super amazing quick way to pay via a QR code and Apple Pay!! Although, you could do it the old fashioned way as well with a sealed envelope. I stayed at a tent site. They are in the open grass and I presume each “site” is designated by a picnic table. I was the only tent camper. There were about 3 RVs there. There isn’t a lot to do in the area but it’s great for a nice quiet night sleep if you’re on a road trip like I am.

    Primitive Campground

Great place for a weekend getaway

Stayed one night in one of the numerous walk-in primitive sites. I reserved the site online, and received great help and flexibility from the park rangers when I needed to change the reservation date due to poor weather. There are multiple drive-in tent sites along the road to the walk-in sites. There were a few people camped in the drive in sites, but we had the walk-in section all to ourselves. The camp hosts provided wagons in the parking area for easy transport of camping supplies. I highly recommend staying in a site along the river for a great water view right from your site. The tall cottonwood trees provide great seclusion, and we didn’t hear anyone all night. There is a pit toilet next to the parking area, but we opted to drive to the ranger station/help desk for running sinks and toilets. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. Highly recommend staying here!

    Really Nice

This is our first visit here, North Dakota does a great job with their state parks campgrounds. Our 3rd SP visited on this trip ( Lake Metigoshe & Sully Creek were the others).

Huge, well spaced campsites. Pretty much in immaculate condition. The park was busy, hardly any vacant spots but still very quiet. Plenty of folks had their boats, & plenty of room to park them. Very scenic area.

We've been to plenty of state parks across the USA. Looks like North Dakota might have the best ones.

Gorgeous , peaceful little slice of the Dakota’s

This is my favorite campground in North Dakota ! Always clean and neat. The waters are beautiful. National fish hatchery nearby, along with the Garrison dam. Breath taking views from the Elbowwoods loop!

    Heart Butte Reservoir (Lake Tschida)

Busy boat launch but friendly and respectful campers

Five primitive campgrounds with wells and vault toilets. The two stars are for how this place is taken care of. Not well kept.

Decent fishing for North Dakota. Try your hand at catching crappie, walleye, catfish, perch, white bass, pike, bluegill, large and smallmouth bass. Bait store nearby!

    Uh-amazing

Like others before me said - how is this free!? We’re traveling thru North Dakota to Montana & just needed a place to rest overnight. The very few campgrounds around were all full & it was looking like we were staying at Walmart. But thanks to this nifty app, we were introduced to this very nifty spot! It’s right off the 94. Is there a little highway noise, yes. Did it bother us? Nope. We were in a huge spot right on a lake ! The view was so peaceful & it was otherwise super quiet. In fact , there are several spots all around the lake & hardly anyone at all. This place is actually better than some campgrounds we’ve paid too much for . No hook ups , of course , but that’s what a generator is for ! So glad places like this exist.

    Riverside Park - Beulah

    Off the beaten path

I'm not too sure how many people would find themselves in Beulah (we were there because my father-in-law worked in the area for a bit), so I was surprised the see there was a park for camping. There's not a ton to do, which is one of the reasons for 3 starts, but the park is along the Knife River and the park is small but nice. It does feel like a bit of an oasis in the pretty much vast nothingness. It's not too far from Bismarck so it might be a nice getaway. The town is very small but for some reason there is a golf course right next to the park, so that could be a draw.

Nice and Clean, but also “planes, trains, and automobiles”

Very clean, with water and facilities. Separate RV and tent areas. Very inexpensive. Tent area nice and flat and grassy- perfect.

Only downside is the proximity to a small airport with a 24hr rotating beacon, rail line across the street, and road intersection with rumble strips. All quieted down after 10 pm or so, so still has a good nights sleep. Position your tent carefully to place trees between you and the airport beacon, and you’ll be happier.

    Still, very nice municipal campground.

    Fort Stevenson State Park, ND

This is a very well kept campground with clean bathrooms and showers, well maintained tent, camper, and RV sites, and excellent mountain biking and hiking trails. It also has lake front camping sites for both tents and campers. There are multiple swimming beaches on property, playgrounds, an ice cream and general store, and boat rentals available. Very enjoyable camping experience.

    Very nice area

I was there from July 22nd 2017 till July 30th 2017 There care many different camping sites that are off the reservoir. We were at the Hidden Shelter this site is about 6 miles off the main road. There are 4 sites there but we were the only ones there all week. There is a vault toilet and picnic area at this picticular site. Very quiet during the week. Busier on the weekends. Water was nice but did have blue algae during our stay since it was so very dry out there. Sites are large, had a 20ft RV, two room tent, two person tent and a screened in tent in our spot. There is not alot of shelter does gets pretty hot from about noon till 4pm. Off the main road there is the office with a dumping and filling station, showers that were very clean, flushable toilets and sites with electricity. I perterva site that is off the beaten path and the stars every night were just amazing.

    Clean, Quiet Facilities

I've been camping at this campground since I was a kid, and it's always been wonderful. It has something for everyone. A boat marina, a swimming beach, tent-only sites, primitive grounds, water and electrical sites, hiking trails, playgrounds, clean shower facilities and flushing toilets! Not to mention the outstanding views of Lake Sakakawea!

    Good camping and fishing

A number of good spots to camp is a little hilly as trying to find a tent spot out of the open is challenging but fun. Plenty of fishing spots even has a fishing dock. Only real down side is that it's right off the interstate so there's some traffic noise.

    Riverside Park - Beulah

    Overnight

There are 8 electric RV sites according to the map but it looks like there's a few more here. The sites are grass. We found sites pretty level on the way but on the south side they are steep, better for tents. There are bathrooms and a shower but they were in terrible shape, I wouldn't use them. Otherwise it's nice and quiet. Disc golf, playground and a ball field are here.

    Wonderful campgrounds!

I really enjoyed my stay at this campground. I had a large tent and brought my dog. I chose to stay with electricity and water since I had my pup. I had a very clear view of the water and the place was very clean. The sites were spaced out well enough where my neighbors weren't too close to me and I hardly heard any of them throughout the day or night. I stay for 4 days and had a wonderful experience. Highly recommend.

    2nd stay

This is my second time staying here while on a road trip. The thing that has changed since the last time is the addition of the rumble strips on the road. It makes it a little noisy. I’d still stay here again. Cheap (tent=$6.00) easy to pay for via Apple Pay, the pit toilets are clean and the other campers are really quiet. It seems to be popular with seasonal workers in the area that stay in their RVs.

    Rverside park

This felt like a local park. They do have shelters and electrical camping. I did not camp here but did walk around. I believe you do need a permit to camp here

    Well kept campgrounds

This campground is nice for larger groups and has a lot of long-term campers. The campground does have cabins and they are well kept and clean. Lots of family activities like horseshoes, basketball court, frisbee golf, and volleyball. Kayak rentals are available as well!

Bring water shoes if you plan on swimming in the lake as it is rocky.  All campsites include one picnic table and one fire pit.

    Quiet, clean shower rooms

Group sites are not real level but manageable. Lake was high so there was no beach. What was left of the water front was taken up by inconsiderate fisherman who couldn’t pull the trailers out of the way.

    Clean, lots of amenities

We’ve camped here a handful of times and have always enjoyed it. It’s below garrison dam and has many big trees, so it’s protected from the wind which makes bugs an issue at times so be prepared for that! Loop 1 - 3 are all paved and have very nice level pads for campers and all have fire rings. Loop 4 is primitive and usually always has space even if you arrive without reservations. Loop 1 cannot be reserved and is a first come first serve, vs loops 2-4 can be reserved 6 months in advance. Showers and bathroom facilities are kept up nice and are clean. There are also playgrounds and theaters there for kid/family activities.
