Best RV Parks & Resorts near Rosman, NC

Blue Ridge Falls RV Resort features full hookup sites with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections near Lake Toxaway. The resort operates seasonally from May through October with paved roads and gravel sites that accommodate larger motorhomes. Land of Waterfalls RV Park provides water and electric hookups with pull-through sites available for easier maneuvering. ["Pull through sites for big rigs interior, full hookups include cable, good wifi, good cell service," noted one camper about Creekwood Farm RV Park.] Gatlin Ridge RV Park offers a more intimate setting with only five sites, all with full hookups including 50-amp service, though spaces can be tight for larger units.

Mountain terrain around Rosman creates challenging access conditions for some RV parks. Several campgrounds require navigating steep grades and sharp turns that may be difficult for longer motorhomes over 40 feet. Cell service varies significantly throughout the region - strong at some parks like Blue Ridge Falls but minimal at others, making advance research essential. Dump stations are available at select locations including Boylston Creek RV Park, though not all parks offer this amenity on-site. According to one visitor, "the dump station was easily accessed and very clean" at Mile Creek County Park. Winter camping options are limited as many parks close seasonally, with Red Gates RV Park typically operating April through November.

    LOCATION

The location is incredible! We enjoyed the accessibility of hiking, biking and fishing right from the campground. ART LOEB trailhead is right outside the campground entrance and is excellent for hiking and mountain biking. Several loops and even sites provide access to the river for fishing. Just outside the campground are endless trails and several beautiful waterfalls that can be accessed within a 5-15 min car ride. Convenient to a few restaurants, grocery stores and even a Walmart (which is slightly dodgy so be warned).

    SITE

014 WOAK site is an RV site. It’s spacious and very private. We loved how much room we had to spread out and entertain as we were traveling with several other camping families. Our site was the go to spot! Backing in wasn’t difficult. It was convenient that the pull through site across from us was vacant, this made backing in super easy. There are no hookups on this site. So be sure you have a generator! One bonus on the location of this site is the water access just feet away. We needed to fill up and had forgot to do so when we pulled in to the campground. What a relief to see a water access just steps from the campsite! The only downside was that generator hours are very limited. If you are traveling during warmer months or must have AC, this is not the site for you. We felt that the tree coverage really provided us protection from the heat and did very well without AC in early August.

    ACTIVITIES

    • Slide Rock is a natural water slide that is fun for the whole family. Yes… it’s COLD and honestly worth every moment of chilly suffering.

    • Hiking is abundant and all levels are accessible within minutes to a few miles of the campsite. Our favorites are: Looking Glass Falls (steps going down make this a breeze), Moore Cove Falls is a MUST and an easy trail that leads to the perfect waterfall for a good photo, Looking Glass Rock is a moderate to difficult hike and worth it. Looking Glass Rock is a long hike so be prepared to go early and bring a rain jacket.

    • Fishing right within the campground makes it perfect for an early morning or late afternoon activity. The hatchery is nearby and offers some wonderful opportunities to catch and release. Be sure to look in to a guided tour for a hands on experience filled with lots of educational info on local fish.

    • Biking is a top activity for lots of overnight and day campers. The Art Loeb Trail provides endless miles that proves fun for the whole family.

    • Ice Cream at Dolly’s should make your list if you love a refreshing treat. This iconic little stop if right by the entrance to the Pisgah Forest and just around the corner from the campground. Also a great spot for a cell signal!

    • Breweries aren’t hard to find nearby. Small microbreweries are within a few minutes and Sierra Nevada Brewery is 25 minutes away.

    DON’T FORGET

    • Generator (in case your site doesn’t offer electric)
    • Headlamps and Flashlights (tree coverage is heavy so it gets darker faster)
    • Fishing Poles
    • Rain Jackets (it rained almost daily in the afternoon)
    • Cordless Leaf Blower (for removing leaves from slide outs)

    Springfield - Hartwell Lake

Nice well kept Corp of Engineers campground

This is a typical Corp of Engineers campground, well kept with a variety of pull through and back-in sites.  Sites are 50/30/20 electric with water, picnic table and fire ring.  Many sites have a tent pad, are very level packed gravel/sand and well situated with very few having very close neighbors.  Shade is at a premium on some sites due to cutting of pine trees a couple of years ago but almost all are waterfront with an excellent view.  Some sites have direct access to the water allowing boats right at the site and swimming.  The swimming beach is very nice and well maintained as are the playgrounds.  Three bath houses are convenient to all loops, well maintained and clean.  Cell service is very good as is over the air TV with numerous channels available.  The dump station is easy in/out.  Sites 10 through 40 have awesome views of Lake Hartwell.

    Mile Creek County Park

My Favorite Campground in South Carolina

Having lived in South Carolina most my life, I haven't seen it all.. but have seen a lot of it. Mile Creek Campground is a string of 3 islands connect by narrow straights and surrounded by water. It's hard to get a spot here without great views of Lake Keowee and the Blueridge Mountains.

The spaces a are a mix of full concrete pads or gravel sites. We've stayed in several sites and while some are very close together (that RV park feeling), there are many which have lots of breathing room, and things feel more natural. The pics in this review are for site 51, which is on the "3rd island," which is the furthest out and offers the best views. This is a very level concrete spot and we only had to use the electric tongue jack on our trailer to level front to back. Got set up in under 5 minutes.

There is one oddity to some of the concrete sites. Because it's concrete, your fire pit is off to the side. And since most of the sites are raised, your fire pit may be level with the concrete pad, but you can't sit next to it as there is too much slope.

It's a county park and is well maintained. Bath houses are clean. With it having a public day use area with a nice boat dock, you can expect almost every morning @ 6am to hear the diehard fishing folks blasting out of the boat launch area.

We have Verizon and our cell signal has always been 4 to 5 bars on the outside third island.

All sites have 30amp electric and water hookups. Dump station at the front of campground entrance up on a hill. BE AWARE, pulling into the dump station is easy, but the steeper exit will have longer RV's and Trailers dragging their bag end on the asphalt.

We've always felt safe and relaxed here. And though we prefer more dispersed camping with less neighbors, this is still one of the best and most affordable ($25 in off season) places in South Carolina to camp.

We rarely give 5-stars, but due to the awesome views,  trees between the sites and being well wooded & surrounded by water... it really is a very nice place.

From what I can tell, all but two sites are back in. We had no problem backing in our 23'8" (total length) camper in.

Guide to Rosman

Surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains at elevations ranging from 2,100 to 3,000 feet, Rosman offers a cooler summer climate than nearby lowland areas, with temperatures averaging 10-15°F lower during peak season. The area's steep terrain creates numerous waterfalls, with over 250 in the surrounding region according to visitors. Seasonal fluctuations affect campground availability, with many RV parks closing during winter months.

What to do

Waterfall exploration: The region surrounding Rosman contains hundreds of accessible waterfalls within short driving distances. "The area is known for having over 250 waterfalls," notes one camper at Blue Ridge Falls RV Resort.

Hiking and biking trails: State parks and recreation areas offer varied terrain for outdoor adventures. "Panthertown for hiking and biking" is just minutes away according to a review from Blue Ridge Falls RV Resort, while another camper at Land of Waterfalls RV Park mentions "Easy access to hiking trails and outdoor activities. Peaceful and quiet campground that is very well maintained."

Fishing opportunities: Many campgrounds feature stocked ponds and creek access. A visitor to Red Gates RV Park mentioned "Small lake that was enjoyable to walk around" while at Rutledge Lake RV Resort, campers noted the "fishing pond has a lot of ducks and seaweed" but still provides fishing opportunities for guests.

What campers like

Community activities: Several rv campgrounds near Rosman organize regular social events. "New owners and they are changing the name to Blue Ridge Falls RV Resort. Beautiful park, lots of mature landscaping and large private, level sites. Gatherings by the pavilion every night at 5. Great community feel," shares one reviewer.

Privacy levels: Campsite spacing varies significantly between parks. At Rutledge Lake RV Resort, "We had spot #10 water front. It had plenty of space for the 5 of us and 2 dogs. Nice gravel level sites," while another camper notes "There are a few sites along the creek on the back left that are a little wooded and have some separation, we were in site 86 which was one of them, but most sites are very close together."

Pet-friendly amenities: Many campgrounds accommodate four-legged family members. At Creekwood Farm RV Park, a visitor highlights "areas to walk our dog. They even have an off lead dog area with water available and poop bags."

What you should know

Seasonal operations: Most campgrounds in the Rosman area operate on limited schedules. "We stayed from November through April" reports a camper at Land of Waterfalls RV Park, which operates year-round, while Red Gates RV Park typically runs "Apr 1 - Nov 1" according to their season information.

Variable connectivity: Internet and cell service quality fluctuates. "Overall WiFi was problematic. It took numerous attempts on my computer to connect to the numerous router networks that they have to finally get a connection, but once connected(Bathhouse_North1) was able to get up to 1.2 MB/s, but often dropped to next to zero," reports one Rutledge Lake camper.

Road access challenges: Navigation to some campgrounds requires careful planning. A Blue Ridge Falls visitor advises, "Just a word on getting there- don't follow the gps onto Kim Miller Rd. Stay on Rt 64 and turn onto 281 past firehouse. Much easier!"

Tips for camping with families

Limited kid-specific amenities: Some rv campgrounds in Rosman focus primarily on adult travelers. A review for Panther Ridge RV Park states, "I would recommend this campground for adults since there were no kid amenities, like a pool, playground, etc."

Bathroom facilities: Quality and availability of restrooms vary considerably. At Creekwood Farm, visitors praise the "immaculate bathrooms" and "Spotless bath house with private shower, toilet sink," which is important for families with children.

Community spaces: Some parks offer shared areas for family gatherings. Panther Ridge RV Park and Campground features a bath house that is "co-ed with a single entrance for the one shower and one toilet; each has its own door," which may affect privacy for families with older children.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling: Most campgrounds provide prepared, level spots. At Gatlin Ridge RV Park, a visitor enjoyed their "Clean, beautiful landscaping. Full hookups, shady spot on site 4."

Vehicle size limitations: Campground layouts affect accessibility. Creekwood Farm offers "Pull through sites for big rigs interior, full hookups include, cable, good wifi, good cell service," while another RVer noted that some sites might be tight: "Our set up is a triple axl pull behind, plenty of room and easy to get to!"

Hookup availability: Electric, water, and sewer connections vary between parks. Land of Waterfalls RV Park provides "Roomy sites with picnic tables and fire pits" and is described as having "sites are all nice gravel; all full hookups."
