Deep River Campground And RV Park

      Clean,affordable, and friendly staff

Took a weekend trip to Deep River Campground in Asheboro, NC. Very well kept, level spots, pet friendly, big rig friendly with pull through and back-in sites available. Full hook-ups (50 & 30 amp). Fire pit and picnic tables at each site. About $40 a night, no deposit required. With weekly and monthly rates as well. 2 pools (currently closed due to covid), game room, store, and private pond. Located minutes away from multiple trail heads. We were on lot 20, which is a double space designed for a larger rig, very private with lots of shade.

      Fayetteville RV Resort & Cottages

      Great Place to Stay

My thoughts and experience of Fayetteville RV Resort. This was our 2nd time staying here, this time we stayed for a long weekend, Thursday - Sunday during the month of April 2021. It is located a short distance from Interstate 95, making it a great place to spend the night if you are traveling on to another destination. Or stay for a nice relaxing vacation like us.

Our site #27 located across from the office, pool, mini golf and bathhouse is a back-in site, gravel pad, nice, level, average length and width, fire pit and picnic table. Full hook up’s, water, sewer and electric. Also cable tv and internet with average campground WiFi speed.

Things we liked about this campground:

      • All sites seem to be gravel pads, nice, level, average length and width. Full hook up’s. I would guess half of the sites are pull though. They have sites that can handle long rigs. Also depending on your site nice shade trees.

      • The staff and the couple managing the place are very friendly and it shows that they care about the guest. The campground is clean and well maintained. Seen staff making rounds all day.

      • So much to do for the kiddos and adults. Two pools, hot tub, mini golf, basketball court, horseshoes and playground all included in your price.

      • For the adults they have a nice workout center with lots of equipment.

      • During our stay they had scheduled kid activities and movie night with popcorn.

      • On Friday evening they had a food truck scheduled for dinner.

      • We really liked the “Meet Your Neighbors Happy Hour”, they really wowed us with this event. It ends early enough that you can still have a quiet evening around your camp site. Check their activities list for schedule.

      • Saturday morning they had a Waffle breakfast.

      • Two large fenced dog parks, one located at each in of the campground.

      • Two fishing ponds and dirt walking trail though the woods and around ponds.

      • Two newly remodeled bathhouses and laundry rooms. Staff keeps them clean though out the day, we never had an issue with dirty or un-stocked bathrooms.

Verizon cell phone service was great.

Local Eating Places: Nothing special, Waffle House, Subway, Foxes Pizza and a corner grill all within 10 minutes away.

Attractions or things to do in the area: Averasboro Civil War Battlefield and Museum is only 9.6 miles. There is around 10 historical sites along the route that is connected to the history museum. In Fayetteville about 15-20 minutes there is a lot to do and see.

Four Oaks Lodging & RV Resort

      Non-Descript Roadside RV Parking Lot

If you find yourself passing up or down the I-95 corridor and simply need a patch of land to layover for the night and you’ve got one of those incredibly large mobile homes on wheels, then this non-descript RV location near Four Oaks (look for the cross-roads of where Hwy 301 intersects Hwy 701(exit 90 on I-95) may just be the perfect spot for you. But to be perfectly clear, Four Oaks is more of a layover than a destination - I would really only consider this on the way to somewhere else where I am getting in late and leaving early.

With a couple dozen or so RV parking lanes for your parking pleasure, all of the sites come equipped with the typical 20 / 30 / 50 amp electrical hook-ups, waste disposal and water connections. There’s the standard picnic table, fire ring / BBQ, garbage receptacles, propane refilling stations, covered pavilions and even a community BBQ. The hosts are somewhat grumpy and offer pricing by the night, week and month. Overall, the community is inviting and friendly and there were a few that invited us over to chat with them and share a beer. While there’s not a ton of amenities to pick and choose from, this location does come with BBQ, doggie park, free WiFi & high-speed internet, store and vending machines. Near this RV parking lot, you do have access to Wilmington, Emerald Isle and lovely (but crowded) Myrtle Beach. One of the best perks though is that this campground serves up a nice continental breakfast on the weekends for campground guests, plus there's also free ice and cable for any overnight guests.

Insider’s tip? Here's a few: (1) Take advantage of the close proximity to 30 acre Tucker Lake (conveniently located where Interstate 40 intersects 95), where some decent fishing can be had – we caught (and released) several smallmouth bass, brook trout and black bullheads. Here, you’ll find white sandy beaches, paddle boats, kayaks and canoes for rent, rope swings, 165 foot waterslide for the kids to jump into the water and scattered open pavilions with BBQ’s and grills. There’s also a handful of ill-maintained trails to hike on; (2) If you'd like to hit the links then nearby Johnston County Country Club has some really nice fairways that you'll want to explore; (3) Should you grow weary of trying to conjure up that next meal from the depths of your onboard mini-fridge and want to try out some local fare, then head on over to nearby JP's Country BBQ where they serve up smoked chicken, ribs as well as mac-n-cheese along with some good 'ol Southern cole slaw; (4) Should you find yourself in need of anything there's Ronnie's Country Store just down the road (you wouldn't even need to drive there from Four Oaks), where you can get basic groceries, ice and just about anything for your journey; (5) My favorite site on the property is #8 or #10 as they are furthest from the nearby highway and offer decent shade; and (6) If you come bearing kayak or canoe and are looking for a nice wet piece of paradise to launch into, then check out Holts Lake located just due north of this campground where there's also some pretty decent fishing to be had.

      Happy Camping!

Crosswinds Campground — Jordan Lake State Recreation Area

      Awesome State Park

This was our very first full-time RV park. We loved being in the park and it easily accommodated our 39ft. Class A. Back-in site but with plenty of room to do so. Each site has water and electric hook-up. Sewer however is a dump station. The sites are big with a picnic table, fire pit and lantern hook. Plenty to do here with the lake at your fingertips. Great first experience.

Deep River Campground And RV Park

      Unlevel & messy

We made a mistake. My wife and I are moving to North Carolina, and we were looking for a place to stay for a month in the Asheboro area. I checked around and Deep River was the only local campground with long-term sites available, so I made the reservation. The owner, Scott, was very helpful throughout the reservation process and we thought we were going to have a good experience.

When we showed up, Scott met us at the office and he took us to the "most level site" he had available. I was a little concerned from the start because the sewer pipe was sitting at a 45 degree angle and it was half buried in the ground. I had to help dig out the pipe and when I looked inside I noticed the connection was broken and any drainage would  have leached directly into the ground. Additionally, the sewer connection was more than 40 feet from the center of the site and I only carry 30 feet of line, so we had to back way up in order to hook-up. Unfortunately, that meant that our primary slide was within 3 feet of a giant pine tree so there was barely enough room to open it. Another problem with being so far back in the site was how unlevel the camper was. It took a while for me to get the trailer unhitched and by the time I had it nearly level, I had used all of my blocks and the jack was extended to the maximum height. Needless to say, I did not feel very comfortable with the arrangement and I was really starting to question whether or not to stay.

Then I started looking around at the site and there was trash everywhere with broken pieces of metal and half chewed dog bones strewn about. I looked at my wife and I could tell she was not happy. So I got on my phone, called another campground and made reservations. Scott was understanding, he tried to talk us into trying another site but by that time we had decided to move on. I will give Scott credit, he didn't charge us a cancellation fee, so that was good.

A quick note, the WiFi was limited to close to the office and we would have had to pay Spectrum for a monthly internet connection. Also, Verizon cell coverage was weak.

      Jordan Dam RV Park

      Great no frills campground.

We stayed at Jordan Dam RV Park for a year while waiting for our house to be built.  The campground is a great, quiet place.  There are not a lot of recreational amenities, but there is pond for fishing.  The site maintenance man, Earl, will direct you into your site, which was a bit tricky in the site we were in.

The RV Park has on-site propane filling, and if you leave your tank on your picnic table, Earl will come and fill it.  This was extremely convenient during the winter months, when we were filling one of our tanks every few days.

If you are looking for someplace close to Jordan Dam boat launch, or are looking for a long term site, this is for you.

Poplar Point Campground — Jordan Lake State Recreation Area

      Family Friendly Lake Jordon

Poplar Point Campground at Jordan Lake quickly became one of my family’s favorite spots, offering the perfect mix of nature and convenience just outside Raleigh. With over 500 shaded sites, many right along the shoreline, the kids had room to play while we enjoyed peaceful lake views and easy access to boating, kayaking, and fishing. The campground has plenty of family-friendly touches from playgrounds, picnic tables, fire rings, and boat ramps along with water and electric hookups at most sites, though I learned that some loops have cleaner bathhouses than others. Bald eagles overhead, herons by the water, and fiery sunsets made it feel like we were far from the city, yet Apex and Pittsboro were just a short drive away when we needed a meal or groceries. My tips: aim for a lakefront site in Loops C, F, or G, pack serious bug spray for summer, and plan to catch at least one sunset across the water as it’s the kind of view the kids will remember long after the trip.

      Fayetteville RV Resort & Cottages

Friendly and helpful in a time of need

We came here the day we sold our house in Fayettville. Covit19 had just hit so the campground we had reserved fell through and couldn’t get tenants to leave because they were scared. We were in for a surprise, Fayetteville RV resorts welcomed us with open arms and put us under a long term clause so we couldn’t get thrown out if they shut everything down. 600 a month is more than reasonable for the area. The staff is super and they keep the camp ground top notch.

The bathrooms were immaculate. The Landry rooms were great, little expensive but I get it, they are high maintenance with all the visitors. The hiking trail had all kinds of wildlife and a small damn on it. We walked it every day for 2 months and it was great. All the neighbors in the long term area were like family. I loved this place! They will not disappoint!

    Guide to Bynum

Bynum, North Carolina sits at the convergence of the Haw River and Rocky River in Chatham County, with elevations averaging around 300 feet above sea level. The surrounding RV parks and campgrounds benefit from the region's moderate climate, with temperatures typically ranging from 30°F in winter to 90°F in summer. Most campsites in the area feature gravel pads rather than concrete, making them susceptible to becoming muddy during the frequent spring and fall rains.

    What to do

Fishing at Jordan Lake: Located minutes from Jordan Dam RV Park, Jordan Lake offers excellent bass and crappie fishing. "The RV Park has on-site propane filling, and if you leave your tank on your picnic table, Earl will come and fill it. This was extremely convenient during the winter months," notes Michael R., useful for anglers staying through colder seasons.

Hiking at Cane Creek: The network of trails at Cane Creek Campground provides wooded walks suitable for all ability levels. "It's got showers with hot water and accessible facilities. Great camping!" writes Dimitry A. A camper named Karen adds, "Great hiking trails. Beautiful view of lake."

Historical sites: The Averasboro Civil War Battlefield and Museum is only 9.6 miles from Fayetteville RV Resort, with approximately 10 historical markers along connected routes. "There is around 10 historical sites along the route that is connected to the history museum," confirms Steve K., making this an educational day trip from Bynum-area campgrounds.

    What campers like

Privacy between sites: Many RV parks near Bynum offer more spacious arrangements than typical private campgrounds. At Spring Hill RV Park, "The spaces are far enough apart that they aren't on top of each other," according to Mike C., while another camper notes, "The sites are wooded and big. It is remote and there are no amenities."

Woodland settings: Unlike more commercial developments, several campgrounds maintain natural surroundings. "The park is nicely hidden in the trees; it's only about 10 min to Chapel Hill/Carrboro stores, restaurants, etc.," says a reviewer about Spring Hill RV Park. Another mentions its "Lots of trees for shade and the park is very quiet."

Clean facilities: Campground cleanliness ranks high among camper priorities. At Fayetteville RV Resort, "The bathrooms were immaculate. The Landry rooms were great, little expensive but I get it, they are high maintenance with all the visitors," notes a long-term camper. Another reviewer confirms, "Staff keeps them clean though out the day, we never had an issue with dirty or un-stocked bathrooms."

    What you should know

Reservation windows: Most RV parks around Bynum fill quickly during peak seasons. For Jordan Dam RV Park, making arrangements well ahead is advised, as one reviewer mentioned, "We stayed at Jordan Dam RV Park for a year while waiting for our house to be built."

Site selection considerations: Trees can cause issues for some RVs with roof-mounted equipment. At Jones Station RV Park, a camper advises, "Shady site #28" as a preferred location. However, at Cane Creek, one reviewer warned about potential problems: "A large storm rolled through and a hickory nut busted the top of my ac unit on my roof and the nut broke the blades of my fan off."

Park signage challenges: Several campgrounds have minimal roadside signage. "You'll have to look hard to find Goodwin's RV Campground... I have to admit, we drove up and down Moncure School Road looking for this place," notes one traveler about navigating to campgrounds in the area.

    Tips for camping with families

Multiple playground options: Cane Creek Campground features three separate play areas for children. "There are 3 parks which kiddo had a great time making friends at," reports Mandy L., while another camper confirms, "Plenty of places to tent camp or RV camp! Places to fish things for kids to play on and of course places to shower after!"

Weekend activities: Some campgrounds offer scheduled events for younger campers. "During our stay they had scheduled kid activities and movie night with popcorn," shares a reviewer about their experience at Raleigh Oaks RV Resort, which also offers "Playground, mini golf, horseshoe, 3 dog parks, 2 pools" according to another family.

Budget-friendly amenities: Many RV parks near Bynum include recreational facilities without additional fees. "So much to do for the kiddos and adults. Two pools, hot tub, mini golf, basketball court, horseshoes and playground all included in your price," notes a visitor to Fayetteville RV Resort.

    Tips from RVers

Service availability: RVers should note which specific hookups each park provides. In Dickens RV Park, sites include "50 amp hookups" and accommodate "larger RVs on their gravel sites," while 70 East RV Park offers "spacious lots" with full hookups despite not advertising specific amperage options.

Internet connectivity: Working remotely requires reliable connections. Spring Hill RV Park offers superior connectivity compared to other options. "The Wifi is excellent and, I believe, cell service is good for pretty much everyone since it's so close to the Triangle," notes one digital nomad.

Grocery access: Resupply options vary by campground location. A 10-minute drive from Spring Hill RV Park reaches Chapel Hill's shopping districts, while those at Raleigh Oaks have "Fuel on way in or out" with a reviewer noting it's "super convenient to the interstate."
