    Oasis State Park Campground

    It’s a real oasis!

Wonderful, small campground in one of New Mexico’s State Parks. You can fish in the Oasis Pond, kids can play at the playground at this secluded spot. Nice campsites, will fit the larger RVs, water and electric at most sites. Great price, I’d stay here again. Great dark sky for stargazing and photography! Watch your pets, a pack of coyotes came through camp the night I stayed there.

    Clovis RV Park

    Second time staying here

As their signs say “the quiet side of town.” Misty at the front desk was great! $39 for full hookup. They do have those nasty little “goat heads” this time of year. Shoes are a must. Also, apparently their is a second park in Clovis with a similar name. Clovis RV ranch or something like it

    Clovis RV Ranch

    Convenient, Friendly Camping

The campground changed names to Clovis RV Ranch. Definitely check the address for this location. I stopped here overnight camping in my car. The host was friendly and had reserved me a spot with some shade. They only have RV sites with electricity so I paid full price. The bathrooms/showers were private and clean. The campground was nice and quiet during my one-night stay. Very convenient off the main highway.

    Oasis State Park Campground

Well Laid Out Campground -Indian Grass

Indian Grass CG on Oasis SP in New Mexico: (Scale 1- bad, 5-Very good

(71 yr olds in 17’ trailer.)

Overall Rating: 5 for the excellent campground layout Price 2024: $14 for electric, $10 for non-electric Security: No gates. Usage during visit: 40%. I heard this was recently packed due to a nearby fishing tournament. Site Privacy: No vegetation offering privacy. However, the excellent layout gives each site the best privacy that can be offered in a open grassland setting Site Spacing: Great Pad surface: Gravel Reservations: There are ff sites and reservation only sites. Reservation only sites are well marked. Reservations can be made at the campground for the reservation sites if they are open by getting on line. To avoid the $4 reservation fee for just one night and seeing ahead of time there were plenty of reservation only sites available we took an ff site upon arrival. Campground Noise: Quiet. Outside Road Noise: None Through Traffic in campground: None Electric Hookup: Yes. I think the I dian Grass loop is all electric. Sewer Hookup: No Dump Station: Yes Potable Water Available: At site Bathroom: Flush toilets. Newer Showers: Timer does only allows for short duration water flow. Inconvenient and being cold weather with only moderately warm water the shower experience was ‘dampened’. Pull Throughs: Many Cell Service (AT&T): 2 bars Setting: Prairie view Recent Weather: unseasonably (I am told) cold. Insects: None Host: On-site. Rig Size: Large rigs can be accommodated. Sites: 29 is the absolute best. All are great. 24-29 offer the deepest views into the prairie.I anticipate these will offer the best sunrises.

    Clovis RV Park

    Cute RV Park, Nice Staff

Stopped by to visit some family that work at the base, definitely the nicest park in town. There's a nice loop that goes around a pond perfect for walking pups, about a 0.5 mi loop total and you can get to it from the back of the park. Watch out for baby bunnies and Prarie dogs if you have a pup!

    Oasis State Park Campground

    Quiet, good location

On the border of NM and TX, there are few camping options. I was traveling from Santa Fe to Austin and wanted a quiet, safe spot for the night. Nice campsites, some with hook-ups and enclosed shelters. Also nice bathrooms, with showers. Lots of interesting birds, if you’re a birder and a mile away from Blackwater Draw, a major archeological site. I’d definitely stop again if I’m in the area.

    Clovis RV Park

Great Folks that run the place

Reserved a spot 4 months out. Called then the day before. We were set! Full hook ups, away from highway noise. Laundry and Shower facilities very clean! It’s a small park, but Mark takes care of his guests.

    Oasis State Park Campground

Very nice and well maintained park

Looks like there has been some significant investments in the park. New bathrooms and showers, the path around the lake is in great shape and even on this cool and windy day, there were a lot of people fishing. The electric spots are off from the main park a bit but we'll laid out with space between them. Would. Be very exposed in the summer without nearly enough shade but for now, works great. Not much to do except fish as the trails are pretty short and very sandy.

Guide to Clovis

Campgrounds near Clovis, New Mexico offer various accommodation options across the high plains of eastern New Mexico, where elevations average around 4,200 feet. The region experiences distinct seasons with summer temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F and winter nights dropping below freezing. Dog friendly campgrounds near Clovis typically enforce leash requirements and provide designated pet walking areas due to the presence of local wildlife.

What to do

Fishing at the pond: Oasis State Park Campground features a stocked fishing pond popular with visitors. "The site I stayed at was not great for tent camping as the ground was gravel-based. Not much to look at other than a very nice large man-made pond. It did look like there was some fishing to be had," notes Grayson L. in his review of Oasis State Park Campground.

Wildlife watching: The prairie landscape supports various wildlife species. "Coyotes were howling at night. We saw a lot of deer," reports autumn in her review. Early morning and evening hours provide the best opportunities for spotting local wildlife while walking the trails.

Hiking short trails: The campgrounds offer limited but accessible hiking options. "Also has a lake where you can fish and a couple of little hiking trails," mentions Lisa M. about her stay at Oasis State Park. Most trails are under two miles and traverse relatively flat terrain.

What campers like

Private shower facilities: Campgrounds maintain clean personal bathroom spaces. "The bathrooms/showers were private and clean," writes Rick I. about his stay at Clovis RV Ranch. Many campers appreciate the individual shower rooms rather than communal facilities.

Convenient highway access: The strategic location makes these campgrounds ideal for travelers passing through. "Very convenient off the main highway," notes Rick I. Most campgrounds are situated within 5-10 minutes of major routes.

Level sites: The naturally flat terrain translates to comfortable camping spots. "This place was great, clean camp grounds and level spots," reports Lindy R. about Travelers World Campground. Level sites are particularly valuable during windy conditions common to the region.

What you should know

Limited shade coverage: The high plains location means minimal natural shade at most sites. "Nice little park with great shade, fast Wi-Fi, and very clean," mentions Scott A. about Akers RV Park, highlighting the unusual presence of shade trees at this location.

Goat head thorns: These painful plant thorns can cause problems for both humans and pets. "If you have pets, there are goat heads in the park," warns Tricia S. in her review. Campers should wear closed-toe shoes and check pet paws regularly when walking around the campgrounds.

Limited tent camping options: Most facilities primarily serve RV campers. "They only have RV sites with electricity so I paid full price," explains Rick I. about his car camping experience. Tent campers should call ahead to confirm accommodation availability.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Some campgrounds provide play facilities for children. "Nice little campgrounds and good fishing also has a nice play area for kids," states Tabatha about Oasis State Park Campground.

Wildlife education opportunities: The local prairie dog colonies and bird populations offer natural learning experiences. "Lots of interesting birds, if you're a birder and a mile away from Blackwater Draw, a major archeological site," shares Rae D. Families can visit the Blackwater Draw archaeological site, located approximately 12 miles from Clovis.

Weather planning: The region experiences temperature extremes that require preparation. "Today is a windy, rainy day, but the campground is almost full," notes Shawn. Families should pack for variable conditions, especially during spring and fall.

Tips from RVers

Hookup availability: Different campgrounds offer varying levels of service. "We ended up getting the one RV Spot with all three hookups which was nice. Number 17 is the only one with sewer!" advises Karen P. about her stay at Oasis State Park Campground.

Site selection for views: Some sites offer better vantage points than others. "Sites: 29 is the absolute best. All are great. 24-29 offer the deepest views into the prairie. I anticipate these will offer the best sunrises," recommends Roger W.

Full-service options: Many pet-friendly RV parks near Clovis provide complete amenities. "Full hook ups, away from highway noise. Laundry and Shower facilities very clean!" reports Michael C. about Clovis RV Park. Most campgrounds charge between $14-$39 per night depending on hookup options.
