Kinsman Pond Shelter sits on the edge of a pond deep in White Mountain National Forest, reachable only on foot with full gear in tow. The hike in is strenuous. No cell service reaches the site, and there are no sounds of roads or air traffic once you arrive. Campers can use a raised toilet on-site. Sleeping options include a shelter and several tent platforms. Dogs are welcome. Lafayette Place Campground — Franconia Notch State Park is a drive-in alternative roughly two miles southeast for those wanting easier access.
