    Iron Horse RV Resort

    Professionally kept RV Resort

The  Iron Horse RV Resort in Elko, NV is a real gem in the Nevada desert. It's on the main highway parallel to I-80 on the north end of town. You have to keep your eyes open on the right side to catch the entrance signage. The Resort is tucked down a private road. The office folks were very professional.

This RV Resort was extremely well kept and fairly quiet in the evening. Like many RV Resort these days, there are permanent or transient work related residents that are mostly out the perimeter sites.

All sites have concrete patios, flat and level packed gravel pads, picnic tables and full hookups. There are even a series of mini bungalows.

As you can see, Yoshi agrees!

A beautifully laid out campground with gravel sites and nice landscaping. It’s nestled in the heart of Elko, Nevada, a short drive from the Ruby Mountains and a couple of smaller casinos and restaurants.

The dog park was small, but well maintained and provided waste bags. There is also a spa/hot tub available to guests which is a nice addition. They have clean bathrooms and laundry available as well.

    Nice but noisy

We spent a night in hot August here in our Westfalia camping van. There are no tent sites but cabins and RV spots. Nice bathrooms, showers, a playroom with a ping pong table. The cabins looked attractive. It looked like a lot of people were there long-term. It really is more for RVers and those that want to stay in a cabin. I would recommend, except there is a train that goes by at least two times and blows its horn (this on a Saturday night). The coyotes in the middle of the night were wonderful but the trains weren’t. Also I had trouble getting on the internet with my iPhone 6–couldn’t connect to their WiFi.

    Great price

We only stayed here one night, it was just a half way stopping point for us going into Utah. What they consider to be a pool was extremely small. The pool and the jacuzzi were about the same size, however you do have full access to the Hilton next door. The Wi-Fi and the phone service here worked great. There are no fire pits and no fires are allowed. the park was extremely clean and well-maintained. And at the casino just down the street on a Friday night they had all-you-can-eat prime rib. very affordable prices. Would definitely return.

    Nice park

This is a very nicely landscaped park with pull thrus and back ins. Each site has a concrete pad with a good picnic table (no butt splinters here).

    Clark Park

    Quiet, clean and convenient

Located just around the corner from a full service (Def pumps) Maverick truck stop, this quiet RV Park is a convenient stop along I80. Pull into an open spot in the overnight section and then walk over to the office to fill out an envelope, deposit cash or a credit card slip (4% fee) and then hook up for the night.

The sewer, water, electricity and cable TV hookups are all in great working order in all the sites we saw. Wasn't busy the night we were here.

    Iron Horse RV Resort

    Perfect RV Dump/h20 Fill-up Spot

We were just passing through and the people were super nice. $10 to use the facilities. We had lunch at a picnic table too. Didn’t stay but definitely would if we pass back this way. The park looked pretty darn nice. Nice shady trees in some spots. A must because it’s blazing hot.

    Iron Horse RV Resort

    Great Place!

Good amount of space, clean, nice playground, nice laundry area, pool table, ping pong, and other games. Has a “spa” but it’s a little disappointing. Just keep in mind it’s a spa not a pool. Office staff is friendly! Would for sure stay again!!

Guide to Carlin

Cabin rentals near Carlin, Nevada provide convenient overnight lodging options in northeastern Nevada's high desert terrain. Located in Elko County at elevations around 4,900 feet, this region experiences temperature extremes with cold winters and hot, dry summers. Available cabin accommodations range from basic shelter structures to furnished units with varying access to utilities and amenities depending on location.

What to do

Outdoor recreation access: Battle Mountain's Clark Park serves as a convenient base for exploring nearby recreation. "There's a Napa Auto parts downtown in this small town. We have nothing negative about this place," notes David B., highlighting the town's practical amenities.

Dog exercise options: Several cabin properties accommodate pets with designated exercise areas. "The dog 'park' is actually a huge fenced in lot and was very handy giving our 3 Aussies room to stretch their legs," writes Lori T. about Clark Park's pet facilities, though she cautions the fence has "spaces under the park which dogs can easily slide under."

Evening dining: Cabin stays in Elko provide access to local dining establishments. "Please make sure to stop in at The Star Hotel for the best Basque dinner you will ever have! Bring your appetite cause it's a TON of food!" recommends Laura F. when staying at Iron Horse RV Resort.

What campers like

Convenient self-service: Cabin properties often offer flexible arrival options. "Self check-in was both easy and convenient. They take cash, checks, and credit cards (additional fee for credit)," explains Lori T. about her experience at Clark Park, making late arrivals less stressful.

Quiet surroundings: Despite proximity to highways, cabin locations maintain peaceful environments. Erik J. describes Clark Park as a "quiet RV Park" that's "a convenient stop along I80," adding that "wasn't busy the night we were here."

Clean facilities: Maintenance standards remain high at established cabin properties. "The site was long and wide. The showers were spacious and top notch clean," notes David B. about his Clark Park stay, while another visitor describes it as "very clean and well maintained."

What you should know

Extra fees apply: Budget for additional costs beyond base cabin rates. "The showers, they do cost money which kinda sucks when you are paying for a spot," reports Alysa R., specifically noting Clark Park's shower rate of "$1.50 to start, and a quarter each additional minute" with "no change machine."

Connectivity varies: Internet availability differs between properties. One Iron Horse RV Resort guest reported, "they advertised Wi-Fi, which they had, but not at my site. They said they had trouble pushing out the network, but that was information I didn't have when booking."

Ruby Valley restrictions: Sheep Camp in Ruby Valley maintains strict usage policies different from other cabin locations. This remote cabin setting prohibits alcohol, fires, and pets, while providing minimal amenities requiring guests to bring essential supplies.

Tips for camping with families

Recreational amenities: Cabin properties often include family-friendly features. "There's some swings & a basketball hoop," notes Alysa R. about Clark Park's facilities, providing on-site entertainment options for children.

Indoor entertainment: Some cabin properties offer protected recreation space. Iron Horse RV Resort features "a nice game room with laundry facilities" according to one visitor, with amenities including "pool tables and ping pong" for family entertainment during inclement weather.

Noise considerations: Location-specific sounds might affect sleep quality. One cabin guest mentioned, "there is a train that goes by at least two times and blows its horn" at night, while another noted, "The coyotes in the middle of the night were wonderful but the trains weren't."

Tips from RVers

Site configurations: Clark Park offers multiple setup options with clear pricing structure. "There are both pull-through ($40) and back in ($35) sites. The sites are gravel and offer plenty of space between neighbors," explains Lori T., adding "We did have to level our rig just a bit."

Seasonal timing: Summer heat affects comfort levels significantly. Steve A. notes that having "Full Hookups great cause this is high desert and pretty hot in July" during his Clark Park stay, highlighting the importance of climate considerations when booking cabin accommodations.
