Best RV Parks & Resorts near St. Ignatius, MT

Several RV parks near St. Ignatius, Montana provide full hookup options for motorhome travelers. Diamond S RV Park in Ronan features 37 sites with electric, water, and sewer hookups, operating from March through November. The park accommodates big rigs with spacious pull-through sites and offers both 30 and 50-amp service. "Getting into our site was a bit challenging. For all of those who are looking for a back-in challenge, this is your spot," noted one camper, though they added the site was mostly level once settled. Eagle Nest RV Resort in Polson provides similar amenities with premium sites that include concrete pads, while Polson Motorcoach and RV Resort caters specifically to larger Class A motorhomes with luxury accommodations overlooking Flathead Lake.

Across the region, most RV parks maintain gravel pads with varying degrees of levelness. Many travelers recommend bringing leveling blocks, as one reviewer mentioned at Granite Peak RV Resort: "All, but the premium sites (concrete pads) have a slope. Jack's were fully extended and some wheels off the ground." Cell service varies significantly between locations, with stronger signals near larger towns like Missoula and Polson. AT&T and Verizon typically provide 3-4 bars in developed areas, while coverage can be spotty in more remote locations. Dump stations are limited at state parks, with the nearest facilities often located in Kalispell or Missoula. Most private RV parks in the area welcome pets, though some maintain restrictions on certain breeds or require leashes. Summer reservations are essential, particularly for lakeside parks, which often book months in advance.

Informal Dispersed Campsite at Fish Creek Properties Montana State Park

Big Spot adjacent to the road, Good if in a pinch

Sign says camping permitted to 14 days in a 30 day period. Adjacent to dirt road with a few trees in between. Not the most private but a good option if you need a place for the night if the nearby campsite is full. No amenities. T-mobile cell service is good here.

River access just at the entry of the turn in. Could easily pull a big rig in but may have a hard time turning it around as there is not a pull through. There is a concrete slab that is level and about 12'x25' in size  which could be good for a trailer or van without having to do much for leveling. Many vehicles/tents could fit here in the dirt area but would likely be comfortable for a single group rather than multiple camp groups.

    Polson Motorcoach and RV Resort

    The Nicest KOA We’ve seen

First, as we were driving up to the site, I saw these large Class A motorhomes with gazebos and lush green lawns and thought “I wish I knew about this RV park before booking,” only to find out it was the KOA! The sites are leveled, gravel pads on a hill, with a wooden deck, railings, 2 waste water hookups, and super clean facilities. The pool and hot tub were nice and clean. The staff, including the young man who escorted us to our site on check-in, were hospitable. Finally, there is a nice view of Flathead Lake. This is a destination KOA and only an hour from Glacier National Park.

    Granite Peak RV Resort

    Surrounded by mountains

If the smoke from summer wildfires were not so thick, you could see the beautiful long range, multi tiered mountains. The park is well maintained. I love the fact that they have a puttputt on the grounds. Very family friendly. The only reason for the 4 stars is that the sited are not level. All, but the premium sites (concrete pads) have a slope. Jack's were fully extended and some wheels off the ground. Pulling up on blocks was no problem. Not a ton of shade at sited. I had 5 bars of 5G AT&T. Wifi repeaters were throughout the park. Would definitely recommend.

    Lolo Hot Springs Campground

Lo Lo Hot Springs is Hot!

Very nice campground across Hwy. 12 in Montana. Campground is ill defined so it feels more like camping out in the woods. Fire pits with picnic tables. 30 amp electric with water. Dump station on site. $38.50 per night or $25.50 with senior discount. Cabins are available and there is numerous tent sites. Pretty nice campground. Across the highway is Lo Lo Hot Springs. Very rustic with a $8.00 entry fee. Inside group tub and outside pool. There is a lodge and bar also on site. We spent 5 days in our 5th wheel at LoLo.

    Granite Peak RV Resort

    Fine For a Stop-off Night

Definitely not a spot that caters to our normal priorities as it's more of a family hangout or long term place, as expected being an RV park. But it worked well as a stop-off spot for laundry, showers, electric recharge, and water fill before continuing on our way the next morning. We were worried it'd be loud being so close to the freeway, but surprisingly couldn't hear it at all.

Facilities: Laundry, showers that feel like home more than any other we've been to, mini-golf, playground, convenience store

Cell Service: As expected plenty of service being so close to Missoula

Starlink: All sites are open to the sky

Solar: All sites are open to the sky

    Placid Lake State Park Campground

    Beautiful Quiet Campground

This was a wonderful stopover on a road trip. Beautiful lake, rich forest area. Camping spots were nicely spread out, all paved. Ours, number 27 was a pull through. Easy access, a clean spacious vault toilet very close by. Restrooms with showers and flush toilets were a short distance away. THERE ARE NO SEWER HOOKUPS. However at Seeley Lake, about four miles away there is a dump station.

Excellent cell service for Verizon and T-Mobile.

Reserve ahead to be sure, 18$ plus 10$ internet fee. Or walk up first come first served for $18. And with electric hookups!

    Great campground.

    Swan Lake Campground

    Beautiful dry camping site

Swan Lake Campground in the Flathead in National in Forest near Ferndale/Bigfork Mt is a beautiful wooded campground with lots of wooded private campground spots. The host is onsite and we had no problem backing in a 40’ motorhome with a tow dolly and vehicle. I did not see any pull through spots. We didn’t have any cell service (Verizon) and cell service is spotty out towards Swan Lake. The lake is right across the street and you can rent paddleboard‘s and probably kayaks. The campground spots are level and paved with a picnic table and a fire pit. There are porta potty type bathrooms, bear food lockers and enclosed trash bins. $20 per night. Bears are active in this area. There’s a fun bar/restaurant about 10 minutes down the road towards Bigfork called the A Bar. I highly recommend it (they even carry my “Josh” Cabernet as the bar wine. You’ll find all kinds of local characters.

    Nugget RV Resort

    We Gave Nugget a Try

We decided to stay here because we’ve seen this campground(CG) featured the last five year’s we’ve been on the road by CG review websites, travel forums, and big-name RV bloggers. So we thought we’d give Nugget a try. We followed our RV GPS to the CG that is near I-90, but far enough away that you don’t hear highway noise. There was another camper checking in when we arrived, but check-in was fairly quick and thorough. There was a sign about being a Good Sam Member and we had to ask to get the discount as that option was not available for the online reservation. We then had a very friendly escort to pull through site 63 with FHUs, which is supposedly a premium site. This gravel site has a little grass yard with a picnic table. The site is across from a community fire pit and couple of their little trail heads. When we were there in July, there was a fire ban so not having a site fire pit was no big deal. The utilities are nicely placed in the middle of the pad. Water pressure is good at about 50 psi. We got 2 to 3 bars on Verizon. As there are a lot of mature pine trees in this CG, satellite is iffy. Our campsite was at the north end of the CG facing the woods, so we used our Verizon MiFi versus Starlink. We probably could have gotten the Starlink to work if we put the antenna on our roof, but as we were only here for three nights, we didn’t try. There’s a nice trail system around the CG to walk with your kids and it is dog friendly. They offer a lot of amenities of which laundry was one that we did use. There’s a nice 9-hole golf course just down the road. They used to let veterans golf for free on Wednesdays, but now charges vets only$5. The CG also had a food truck one evening that was convenient. We wanted to see what all the hype was about and we got the chance. This CG has a lot to offer families or campers who desire a lot of comforts. Overall, its a nice and well run CG, but we are not compelled to repeat with all the other options in the area.

    Whitefish-Kalispell North KOA

    Family friendly, not really “camping”

If you’re looking for family friendly, this is your spot. Lots of kids activities. Free breakfast. Washrooms, showers and laundry facility available. Scenically, it’s not very pretty. Sites are very close together with little privacy. Our spot was so small we couldn’t fit our tent, picnic table and fire pit in it. We had to park somewhere else, and move the picnic table our. If you prefer exploring nature and quiet, this isn’t the park for you.

Guide to St. Ignatius

Camping opportunities near St. Ignatius, Montana range from forested mountain sites to lakeside areas with scenic views of the Mission Mountains. The region experiences warm summer days with temperatures averaging 70-85°F from June through August, while evenings cool down significantly, often requiring extra layers. Most campgrounds in this area sit at elevations between 3,000-4,000 feet, with higher sites experiencing cooler temperatures and earlier frost dates.

What to do

Hiking nearby trails: Several campgrounds offer access to hiking paths with mountain views. At Lolo Hot Springs RV Park & Campground, campers can enjoy beautiful creek access. "Site seven also seemed really large compared to others as there was a large tree between the next site where we tied up a hammock," notes one visitor who appreciated the natural setting.

Water activities: Flathead Lake provides swimming and boating opportunities throughout summer. "The campground has its beach, but you have to drive to it," mentions a camper at Rollins RV Park, adding that "You're close to Polson and Lakeside, where there are great beaches."

Hot springs soaking: Natural mineral pools offer relaxation after hiking. "We took a hot soak in the 106 degree enclosed mineral bath/pool area and rotated to the 86 degree pool outside," reports a camper at Lolo Hot Springs, noting that "Kids and families all seemed to stay in the pool area while adults in the mineral bath area."

What campers like

Clean facilities: Many rv campgrounds in St. Ignatius, Montana and surrounding areas maintain high cleanliness standards. "Very clean facilities, friendly owners, and a nice fire pit," notes one visitor to Diamond S RV Park in nearby Ronan.

Mountain views: The Mission Mountain range provides dramatic backdrops at many sites. At Mission Meadows RV Campground, campers appreciate the "beautiful mountain views and fairly quiet" atmosphere, though they note the "ground is very uneven" at some sites.

Family amenities: Several parks offer recreational facilities for children. "Great amenities (mini golf, horse shoes, pool, dog park), close enough to town. Grass at our site," reports a visitor to Granite Peak RV Resort, highlighting features beyond the basic campsite.

What you should know

Site levelness: Many campgrounds have uneven sites that require preparation. "The sites have a decent amount of space," notes a camper at Rollins RV Park, while at Mission Meadows, a reviewer mentioned "the ground is very uneven" and "the best spots are W&E."

Internet connectivity: WiFi quality varies significantly by location. "The wifi during our stay has been totally useless, if we weren't traveling with our own hot spot we would have had to leave," reports a camper at Polson Motorcoach and RV Resort, highlighting connectivity challenges even at premium sites.

Weather considerations: Summer thunderstorms can develop quickly. "There is a sprinkler system to keep everything pretty so you can't leave anything out overnight that you don't want to get wet," warns a camper at Jim & Mary's RV Park, indicating the need to secure loose items.

Tips for camping with families

Look for dedicated play areas: Children appreciate designated recreation spaces. "The park is very clean, and the sites have a great playground for kids. Our kids loved it!" shares a visitor to Rollins RV Park.

Consider swimming options: Pools provide reliable water fun when lake conditions aren't ideal. At Nugget RV Resort, "You don't have to leave the campground if you don't want to with tons of great activities," explains a camper, adding that "The bathrooms were good, showers could use some work but they were clean and had hot water."

Plan for noise factors: Some campgrounds experience noise from nearby transportation routes. "The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because they told us there is excellent WIFI throughout the park but the site we were in (spot #14) was too far away from The repeater," notes a camper at Rollins RV Park.

Tips from RVers

Reserve early for summer stays: RV campgrounds in St. Ignatius, Montana area book quickly during peak season. "We planned on tent camping at Lolo Creek campground but we were a weekend too early. It wasn't open yet! Down the road there was an RV Park and they were very nice and allowed us to set up our tents near the river," shares a camper who found flexibility at Lolo Hot Springs.

Plan for varying hookup access: Not all sites offer full hookups or the same amenities. "There are a few spots with hookups, but the ground is very uneven. The best spots are W&E, and the dumpstation is at the Cenex in Ronan," advises a visitor to Mission Meadows RV Campground.

Consider site location carefully: Some parks have significantly better sites than others. "If you get a spot right on the creek it would be super nice, it's very quiet here and you can hear the water," recommends a camper at Lolo Hot Springs RV Park & Campground, highlighting the benefits of creek-side sites.
