Best RV Parks & Resorts near Great Falls, MT

Great Falls RV Park on 11th Street SW offers full hookup sites including 50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections for motorhomes and travel trailers. The concrete pads are mostly level with adequate spacing between sites for slideouts. "The sites are plentiful and not as close to each other as others. Bathrooms spotless. After hours check-in was a breeze," noted one visitor about their overnight stay. Great Falls KOA provides year-round RV camping with pull-through sites that accommodate larger rigs, featuring 50-amp service, full hookups, and well-maintained facilities. Prewett Creek RV Park, situated along the Missouri River, has gravel RV sites with full hookups that can handle big rigs, though some maneuvering may be required when backing in larger fifth wheels.

Within city limits, RV dump stations are available at both the KOA and Great Falls RV Park for travelers needing these services. Access roads to most parks are paved, though the approach to Prewett Creek involves some bridge clearance considerations. A camper mentioned that "you might need to take the Hardy exit instead of Canyon Access if your rig stands tall at 13' 6"." Cell service varies throughout the region, with Verizon showing limited coverage at some outlying parks while T-Mobile offers better connectivity in places like Prewett Creek. Amenities differ significantly between facilities—Great Falls KOA features a swimming pool, petting zoo and laundry facilities, while Military Park Malmstrom AFB Gateway FamCamp provides concrete RV pads with basic hookups primarily for those with military connections.

    Holter Dam Rec. Site Campground

Ranger review of Wenzel's Windy Pass Mummy 0° Sleeping bag and Holter Dam C

    Holter Dam Campground Review

Holter Dam Campground at Holter Dam Recreation site is a BLM 15 site campground located just below Holter Dam. All 15 sites at the campground feature covered picnic tables with a fire ring. All the sites sit along the edge of a very large parking area. 13 of the sites have plenty of room for tents on a nice flat grassy area. Two sites are close together and have limited room for tents. The campground has a double vault toilet with numerous water faucets, and dumpsters. A second vault toilet can be found at the boat ramp area just a short distance from the campground. An ADA campsite sits right in front of the vault toilets. The concrete pad for the ADA site extends to and surrounds the fire ring allowing wheelchairs to get as close to the fire as they want. Campsites run $10 an night (½ price for senior and access pass holders). Keep an eye out on the surrounding hills around the campground for Big Horn Sheep. While staying at the campground we saw 5 sheep on the hill next to the campground entrance.

Ranger review of the Wenzel Windy Pass Mummy 0° Sleeping bag

I was quiet pleased with the Windy Pass 0° Mummy sleeping bag. The bag is roomy, giving you room to turn around in the bags with out needing to have to bag turn with you. On the bags stuff sack it says it is a cold weather bag 0-20 degrees. I slept warm all night with the temps dropping into the low 30's with it raining all night (snow was on the ground on the hills above us). I was quiet pleased with the amount of padding the bag provided during the night as my sleeping pad failed to hold air, but I was still able to sleep comfortably on the hard ground. I got up several times during the night and each time I was able to warm back up in just a few minutes after getting back in to the bag. It will be interesting to test it out next winter in colder weather to see if it meets its temperature claims. I weighted the bag, and at 4 pounds 10 ounces, you might not be taking this one out on a backpacking trip, but for the front country camping you can't go wrong with this warm bag, specially for the price of $45.

    Choteau Mountain View RV Campground

    Great price for amenities!

We found this campsite on our way to Glacier National Park when we needed a tent site for the evening. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Only $22 for a site without electric hookups or $24 for one that does. The campground is very clean and offers showers, restrooms, laundry, dishwashing station, picnic table, cooking grill, fire pits, and WiFi included.

    Great Falls KOA

    Nicely appointed KOA

General: Just about every option you could ask for (except for tents): 50-amp FHU pull-thru, 30/20-amp with w/e(back-in and pull-thru), FHU with patio, glamping tent, one and two-room cabins and cottages.

Site Quality: Different from many KOAs we have stayed in is that the camper pads are gravel, not paved, and there are quite a few trees that provide decent separation/privacy between the sites. The sites are bordered by railroad ties, and some are a tighter fit than others. A few of the sites at the end of the row before the glamping site appeared a little overgrown. As is usual for a KOA, our site was assigned upon check-in. The first site we were assigned didn’t work out for us since our electric cord could not reach the pedestal. Be aware that electric connections are shared between two sites so if you do not have an extension cord, you may have a problem (or need to be reassigned which was easily done for us).

Bath/Shower House: Accessed by code. All-in-one units with soap and paper towels. They were clean.

Activities/Amenities: Many and varied including a water playground (guests can join you here by paying a fee), petting zoo, train, dog park, yard games, bike rentals, propane fill, dump station, laundry, ice, ice cream, and free pancakes. There was even live entertainment!

We don’t typically stay in KOAs or RV parks (mainly because of cost and lack of privacy between sites) but they are good for us when we need showers, laundry, and a dump station. Although still more than we like to spend for camping, this one was a pleasant surprise with the number of trees on the property. The staff was exceedingly friendly!

    Logging Creek

Great spot for a family weekend

This is a great place if you want to get away from Great Falls for a night or two. Each campsite has a fire pit, picnic table and a decent amount of trees. Great little pool on the far side of the campsite is great for kids.

    Thain Creek

Hidden gem! Great escape and so close to Great Falls.

We were shocked this campground wasn’t full, it’s only an hour from Great Falls and the road is your typical gravel, a few larger potholes but completely doable in any car (or towing). Lots of shaded spots (available on a Friday and Saturday night in mid-August!), super clean facilities, and a very helpful camp host. The partiers stay down below on the road so it was super quiet and had some nice wildlife in the area. We did the Windy Mountain loop, so it was a treat to finish the hike and be back at our campsite 100 yards from the end! Highly recommend for campers looking for an easy, quiet escape.

    Choteau City Park

    What a great spot

I was presently surprised by this spot! It is pretty much in town, on the outskirts. There is a dump station and a spot to get drinking water. There’s shady spots and pull through ones. There’s a huge spot that would be able to accommodate the largest motorhome with a trailer, it’s huge! You can pay online, there is a $1 fee. The creek runs through and it’s so calm and pretty. The park is attached so it’s fun for the kiddos. Worth a visit!

    Great Falls KOA

    Good for families with kids

We don’t have kids and so our pull through site missed on what is important to me ( at this expensive price point): nice manicured paved site with shade. The park does have a decent sized area to walk your dog and has a small off leash dog park. Fire pits are a plus. Pool has to be any kids dream with slides and a lot of toys. They also have a petting zoo. The park did its job for our overnight stay but I was happy to leave. Oh, pull through sites are good sized and hookups were quality.

    Great Falls RV Park

    An ok park

Basic RV park, needs to be updated. Lots of long term, old and run down campers. Water, electric and sewer ok. A good deal of highway noise.
