Best RV Parks & Resorts near Florence, MT

RV parks around Florence, Montana include Jim & Mary's RV Park which offers 74 sites with full hookups including water, sewer, and both 30 and 50-amp electrical connections. Sites feature gravel pads with sufficient space for larger rigs and tow vehicles. Granite Peak RV Resort provides 110 RV sites and operates seasonally from May through mid-October with pull-through options for easier access. ["This rv park is serene and beautiful. The staff was welcoming and efficient," noted one visitor about Jim & Mary's.] Black Rabbit RV in Hamilton has pull-through sites positioned along the Bitterroot River, while Lolo Hot Springs RV Park accommodates big rigs with spacious sites and 50-amp service available.

Many RV parks in the region have varying degrees of road noise, with those closer to Highway 93 experiencing more traffic sounds. Most facilities provide sanitary dump stations, though Turah RV Park charges an additional $10 fee for dump station use if not staying in a full-hookup site. Cell service is generally strong near Missoula but can become spotty in more remote locations. Winter travelers should note that while some parks like Jim & Mary's remain open year-round, others close seasonally. Navigation to certain parks requires careful planning as one reviewer cautioned about "absolutely clapped out" roads with washboards leading to mountain locations that could damage RVs and potentially cause flat tires from sharp rocks.

Informal Dispersed Campsite at Fish Creek Properties Montana State Park

Big Spot adjacent to the road, Good if in a pinch

Sign says camping permitted to 14 days in a 30 day period. Adjacent to dirt road with a few trees in between. Not the most private but a good option if you need a place for the night if the nearby campsite is full. No amenities. T-mobile cell service is good here.

River access just at the entry of the turn in. Could easily pull a big rig in but may have a hard time turning it around as there is not a pull through. There is a concrete slab that is level and about 12'x25' in size  which could be good for a trailer or van without having to do much for leveling. Many vehicles/tents could fit here in the dirt area but would likely be comfortable for a single group rather than multiple camp groups.

    Black Rabbit RV

    Compact but Quiet Spot

Very full park with mostly long- term guests on gravel pads, no grass. Spots very close together but each site had a picnic table- no grills. Visitors friendly but staff were marginal. Small laundry room with old machines. Convenient location but check- in early during peak season.

    Granite Peak RV Resort

    Surrounded by mountains

If the smoke from summer wildfires were not so thick, you could see the beautiful long range, multi tiered mountains. The park is well maintained. I love the fact that they have a puttputt on the grounds. Very family friendly. The only reason for the 4 stars is that the sited are not level. All, but the premium sites (concrete pads) have a slope. Jack's were fully extended and some wheels off the ground. Pulling up on blocks was no problem. Not a ton of shade at sited. I had 5 bars of 5G AT&T. Wifi repeaters were throughout the park. Would definitely recommend.

    Lolo Hot Springs Campground

Lo Lo Hot Springs is Hot!

Very nice campground across Hwy. 12 in Montana. Campground is ill defined so it feels more like camping out in the woods. Fire pits with picnic tables. 30 amp electric with water. Dump station on site. $38.50 per night or $25.50 with senior discount. Cabins are available and there is numerous tent sites. Pretty nice campground. Across the highway is Lo Lo Hot Springs. Very rustic with a $8.00 entry fee. Inside group tub and outside pool. There is a lodge and bar also on site. We spent 5 days in our 5th wheel at LoLo.

    Granite Peak RV Resort

    Fine For a Stop-off Night

Definitely not a spot that caters to our normal priorities as it's more of a family hangout or long term place, as expected being an RV park. But it worked well as a stop-off spot for laundry, showers, electric recharge, and water fill before continuing on our way the next morning. We were worried it'd be loud being so close to the freeway, but surprisingly couldn't hear it at all.

Facilities: Laundry, showers that feel like home more than any other we've been to, mini-golf, playground, convenience store

Cell Service: As expected plenty of service being so close to Missoula

Starlink: All sites are open to the sky

Solar: All sites are open to the sky

    Placid Lake State Park Campground

    Beautiful Quiet Campground

This was a wonderful stopover on a road trip. Beautiful lake, rich forest area. Camping spots were nicely spread out, all paved. Ours, number 27 was a pull through. Easy access, a clean spacious vault toilet very close by. Restrooms with showers and flush toilets were a short distance away. THERE ARE NO SEWER HOOKUPS. However at Seeley Lake, about four miles away there is a dump station.

Excellent cell service for Verizon and T-Mobile.

Reserve ahead to be sure, 18$ plus 10$ internet fee. Or walk up first come first served for $18. And with electric hookups!

    Great campground.

The Inn at Philipsburg RV Park

    In town, as advertised

Had a van battery issue so needed to plug in for the cold night. Is as advertised, not for typical bookdockers. Owner is nice and accommodating. Maybe 12 sites with some long term renters - it appeared. All hook ups available up to 50amp. Not quite close enough to down town to walk (in winter). Philipsburg is an awesome small Montana town that’s worth a stop.

    Charles Waters Campground

    Great Spot!

Great for tent camping, there are several spots with trails leading to Bass Creek. Recreational area, picnic tables, fire pits, bathrooms, and about 10 minutes from Florence MT.

    Whitefish-Kalispell North KOA

    Family friendly, not really “camping”

If you’re looking for family friendly, this is your spot. Lots of kids activities. Free breakfast. Washrooms, showers and laundry facility available. Scenically, it’s not very pretty. Sites are very close together with little privacy. Our spot was so small we couldn’t fit our tent, picnic table and fire pit in it. We had to park somewhere else, and move the picnic table our. If you prefer exploring nature and quiet, this isn’t the park for you.

Guide to Florence

RV camping near Florence, Montana places visitors along the Bitterroot River with views of the Bitterroot Mountain Range. Winter temperatures often drop below freezing, with summer days reaching the 80s and 90s. Campgrounds in this area range from basic sites with water and electric hookups to full-service parks with amenities like WiFi and recreation facilities.

What to do

River activities at Black Rabbit RV: Located along the Bitterroot River in Hamilton, this campground offers direct river access. "It was a short walk from our RV to a cool spot with chairs and a fire pit on the river," notes one camper.

Hot springs soaking at Lolo Hot Springs: The natural hot springs feature both indoor mineral baths and outdoor pools. "We took a hot soak in the 106 degree enclosed mineral bath/pool area and rotated to the 86 degree pool outside. Kids and families all seemed to stay in the pool area while adults in the mineral bath area," explains a visitor.

Ghost town exploration: From Bearmouth RV Park, campers can visit nearby Garnet Ghost Town. "Beautiful views here along the Clark Fork River with lots of things to do in the nearby area including visiting the Garnet Ghost town, Philipsburg, Deer Lodge, Anaconda, Butte and Missoula," shares one reviewer.

What campers like

Creek access at Lolo Hot Springs RV Park & Campground: The campground offers sites near the water. "Site seven sits right on the bend of the creek where there is a brush clearing. This was perfect for our golden retriever as we could tie her on a long lead and she could swim her heart out," writes one camper.

Flower gardens at Jim & Mary's: The landscaping receives consistent praise from visitors. "Whoever takes care of the grounds is meticulous and has two green thumbs," notes one camper. Another mentions, "Beautiful campground with shade trees and lots of flowerbeds."

Game rooms and recreation: At Boulder Creek Lodge, campers enjoy indoor entertainment options. "After we ate, we went down stairs to the game room and played pool, table soccer and checkers for about 4 hours," says one family.

What you should know

Seasonal operations: Many campgrounds have limited schedules. Granite Peak RV Resort operates from May through mid-October, while Boulder Creek Lodge runs from May 1 to November 21.

Train noise considerations: Several campgrounds experience train sounds. One camper at Jim & Mary's noted, "The only downside (if I had to find one) was the train close by that was very squeaky as it went by. But I never heard it during the night."

Highway proximity at Bearmouth RV Park: Despite beautiful surroundings, road noise can be noticeable. "Interstate noise and the occasional train whistle would keep me from using the facility for nothing more than an overnight stop," advises one reviewer.

Mobile dump services: Some parks offer unique services for RVers. One camper reported, "They offer a 'honey pot' mobile dump station where they come pump your sewage, sometimes offering a free dump for stays of a week or longer."

Tips for camping with families

Recreation options for children: Granite Peak RV Resort offers various activities. "Nice amenities (mini golf, horse shoes, pool, dog park), close enough to town," reports one visitor.

Day trip recommendations: From several campgrounds, families can access outdoor adventures. "I recommend heading out to gem mountain for some Montana sapphire hunting. Fun day trip, and was great for the kids," suggests a traveler.

Cabin alternatives: At Travellers Rest Cabins & RV Park, families can choose cabins over RV sites. One visitor shares, "We stayed in a couple of the cabins over the course of a week... The first couple nights were in the Bear Cabin--this is a cozier, older cabin. The final few nights were in the Whitetail Cabin, which had a bit more room to move around in."

Tips from RVers

Utility requirements: Many parks offer various hookup configurations. At Turah RV Park, one camper explained, "We did not have reservations so got a last spot by dumpsters, water and power, no sewer. Dumping at their station in am, she came zooming down to ask if we needed help."

Site selection at Lolo Hot Springs: Riverfront sites offer better experiences. "If you get a spot right on the creek it would be super nice, it's very quiet here and you can hear the water," recommends one RVer.

Accessibility notes: When planning RV camping near Florence, consider site configurations. A camper at Jim & Mary's noted, "The sites are gravel, mostly level and most sites have shade. The pull through sites on the outer edge do not but others inside do."
