Best Cabin Camping near Willow Springs, MO

Montauk State Park Campground offers cabin rentals with electricity and indoor plumbing, while Echo Bluff State Park features more upscale cabin options with full kitchens and private bathrooms. Twin Bridges Canoe Campground and Ozarks Mountain Springs RV Park maintain cabin rentals with basic furnishings. "The cabin was pretty filthy. Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Richard's Canoe Rental & Campground provides basic cabin accommodations for anglers and paddlers, while Timbuktu Campground at Echo Bluff State Park offers premium cabin options with modern furnishings. Most properties require advance reservations, especially during summer months when fishing and floating activities peak. Pet policies vary by location, with some cabins prohibiting animals entirely. Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Kitchen facilities range from basic microwaves to full cooking setups with refrigerators and stoves. Harveys Circle B Campground and Jacks Fork Canoe Rental and Campground stock limited supplies at their camp stores, though selection is seasonal. Montauk State Park Campground

relaxing and enjoyable; remote off grid

We are trout fishers. This place is perfect for easy stream and running water fishing. We stayed in loop 3, site 325. We walked over to the "river" about 75 yards from our campsite. The water is shallow and clear. it was perfect. You are off grid in this park with Verizon (our service) or T-Mobile (another guest looking for connection). The lodge has Wi-Fi and I was able to pick up signal to text and call when standing outside. No connection for any data at our camp site. No Over air TV stations. One FM radio station. I you want to have any entertainment, BRING DVDs.

Timbuktu Campground — Echo Bluff State Park

    Wonderful Swimming Hole

This is a really nice spot for tent camping - even though it’s clearly geared towards RV camping. Make sure to book a walk-in campsite if you’re tent camping, otherwise you’ll be in the lot with the RVs (no trees, no privacy etc see first picture). You’ll have to carry your gear to your site, but not too far. Each walk in site is fairly isolated and separate from the other site by trees. Each site has a wood tent pad, picnic table, and fire ring with grate. If you want you could even go to the lodge (walking distance) for a meal and skip the cooking! Book your spot in advance as it seems like they fill up quickly.

    Richard's Canoe Rental & Campground

Nice spot to camp and the people are Great!!

We stayed here to utilize their shuttle services for kayaking the 11 point. It was the week before the Memorial Day holiday and we had the place to ourselves! There are bathrooms available and hot showers, awesome people to chat with and a cool dog named Dan. We stayed in the primitive camping section but were informed there are also cabins available. Our site was just what we needed with a Rim fire pit and a couple of picnic tables. Richards definitely catered to us as we decided at the last minute to take another float and they jumped right in and made it happen for us. The convince of having your own vehicle waiting for you after a long day of floating is worth every dime you pay for it! I would highly recommend Richards for their shuttle services and camping area.

    Twin Bridges Canoe Campground

    Early season, limited services

Tent camped here with a group of private boat paddlers from all over the country. Campground operations had not really started for the season. I arrived after dark and could not find the tent campsites. Nearly drove into deep mud on gravel road past RV sites. Fortunately had just enough cell signal to access their website. Found a campground map three layers deep on reservation page and located my group.

Tent sites were well-located along the river with basic tables and fire rings. I never found the store to be open so paid camping fee at bar and cafe at entrance. Great breakfast. $25/night for tents.  Grass had not been mowed and was deep in tent area. RV sites appear to be a work in progress with much erosion around the new pads and access road. What may have been a shower house had key code locks but there was never anyone to ask. Bathrooms near the entrance lacked tp in some stalls. All one afternoon and evening a group of kids with gas weed trimmers  noisely worked on a slope adjacent to the RV area.

This campground should improve over time a the management appears to be developing the grounds.

    Ozarks Mountain Springs RV Park

    Wonderful campground!

If you’re traveling through southern Missouri and looking for a park to stay in, this is a great choice! Right off the interstate and easy to get in to. Site are graveled and level, and most are full hookups. The majority also have picnic table and fire pit. Plenty of potty spots for the babies scattered throughout the park and a 25 acre trail area. John, the owner, is a great guy! Friendly and welcoming, he keeps the park well maintained. Will definitely be using again!

Timbuktu Campground — Echo Bluff State Park

    Busy, busy, busy

Echo Bluff State Park in Ozark National Scenic Riverways near Eminence, MO is a brand new “old camp”.

Opened in 2016 the history is rather interesting. From 1929 until the 1980s, Camp Zoe was a children’s summer camp, founded by Russell S. and Margaret McMahan Louis County teachers. There is one of the structures still on site with plaques and information. More recently, it was home to music festivals — and an open-air drug market. I didn’t find any plaques in relation to that. However when the government gained control of the land in a court proceeding it was decided to bring more business into Shannon County by opening a very nice campground for people not wanting to rough it.

And “BAM” you have very pricey accommodations from lodge rooms, to cabins and two story condos. The campground is pretty nice too but lacking in shade and privacy. There are walk-in (uphill) sites and nice wagons provided to transport your gear. Not my favorite style of camping. Completely full and busy, which is why it got a 4 instead of 5 star. This may be your type of camping and you would say a 5 star. Reserve ahead, I mean way ahead.

There is a huge pavilion that can be reserved that overlooks the area. It has a large fire pit and mega size grill, one of the trails meanders below the pavilion. This would be a nice venue for an extended family get together.

This is a very nice, new, recreation creation. The playground was given two thumbs up by my granddaughter. Then the river, which you can see from the lodge and playground was given 12 paws and 2 thumbs by dogs and grandkids alike. Crystal clear ice cold water that you can walk across to the sheer wall of rock. Bring your water shoes, the rocks aren’t fun to walk on.

A very cool feature , if you are lucky , you will see the wild horses that roam the area. They are not for petting, so use caution.

Aside from the abundance of people we enjoyed Echo Bluff SP.

What to do

It was a nice flow and on our way down the river, we were able to access our campsite right off the water to drop off supplies before returning our kayak," reports Ashley W.

Trout fishing: Montauk State Park Campground offers premium trout fishing opportunities near their cabins. "You can purchase a trout tag at the lodge for $3.00, and it will allow you to keep 4 trout per day with a possession limit of 8. The conservation will stock the Current on a nightly basis, based on number of tags sold the day before," explains Kyle H.

Swimming in natural springs: Several cabin rental properties provide swimming access. "Great wildlife along the way including cranes, turtles, ducks, fish... The tent sites were shady and grassy with even ground and near the river," notes Kira S. about Twin Bridges.

Historical attractions: Cabin options at Laura Ingalls Wilder RV Park put visitors close to historical sites. "This campground is directly across the street from Laura Ingalls Wilder's home," mentions Timothy F., making it convenient for cabin guests to explore literary landmarks.

What campers like

Reliable dining options: Cabin visitors appreciate not having to cook every meal. "The lodge has a full restaurant, as well as a diner style counter. My son love's to go and sit at the counter to get ice cream. You will find menu item such as burgers, sandwiches, and salads, as well as a buffet on certain days," says Kyle H. about Montauk State Park.

Modern bathroom facilities: Clean restrooms rank high on camper priority lists. "The best showers with privacy and cleanliness. Has extras on site like cornhole, basketball, Foosball, and a pool table," notes Kira S. about Twin Bridges Canoe Campground.

Live entertainment: Cabin guests enjoy evening activities. "Fantastic on site restaurant with bar and grill that has Saturday karaoke and Friday live bands," reports Kira S. about the amenities at Twin Bridges.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Many cabins provide natural settings for wildlife observation. "If you head out of the park on YY you will find Tan Vat Access located right outside the park on the Current. This is a great place to take young ones for a dip in its cool waters," explains Kyle H. about Montauk State Park Campground.

What you should know

Cabin reservation timing: Secure cabins well in advance, especially during peak season. "The campsites and cabins can be a bit difficult to book, if visiting on a Friday or Saturday, but the park is worth it," warns Jesse C. about Montauk State Park Campground.

Bathroom accessibility: Bathroom facilities vary significantly between cabin properties. "The bath house was excellent - very nice showers and bathrooms, very clean, very private," reports Laur H. about Laura Ingalls Wilder RV Park.

Variable water levels: River conditions affect cabin access and activities. "It's a bit fast and deep at the beginning. Lots of stopping points on this river. Very scenic," explains Elisha P. about the 11 Point River near Richard's Canoe Rental & Campground.

Cell service limitations: Connectivity varies widely throughout the region. "If you ever experienced the Jacks forks, you will know phone service is hard to get at times," mentions Braden B. about Jacks Fork Canoe Rental and Campground.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly water activities: Shallow water areas provide safer options for younger children. "Super clean campground. Great swim area. Shower house is basic. We stayed in our RV on a spot with river view. Was really nice!" shares Laura about Harveys Circle B Campground.

Cabin proximity to attractions: Choose cabins based on planned activities. "$10 per night, firewood, ice, and more amenities on site. The owner is so nice. His dog Lil' Dan also slept with me. There is a horse next to the camp sites and it's just so beautiful," reports Delanie J. about Richard's Canoe Rental & Campground.

Educational opportunities: Several cabin locations offer natural learning experiences. "If you decide not to fish, there are things to do such as take a tour of the mill when the naturalist does one of their demonstrations, hike the quarter mile trial to the springs," notes Kyle H. about Montauk State Park.

Evening entertainment options: After-dark activities keep children engaged. "We needed a tent site for one night and we ended up getting a whole grove of trees to ourselves! It was a Saturday night and there was an open mic night and bbq. The atmosphere was light and fun and the people rocked!" shares Bill J. about Ozarks Mountain Springs RV Park.

Tips from RVers

Cabin alternatives: RV travelers sometimes prefer cabins when weather changes. "Nice pull through sites. Good spaces between campers on the pull throughs. Clean and quiet. Owners were extremely nice," shares Kyle R. about Laura Ingalls Wilder RV Park.

Shade considerations: Some cabin areas lack mature trees. "The only negative is that all of the campsites are out in the open with no shade," notes J K. about Timbuktu Campground — Echo Bluff State Park.
