RangerThis is a nice little fishing-focused area within the northern part of large national forest. The large lake has swimming, fishing, and boating so plan to be on the water all day. There is a nice shady area along the lake with picnic tables and grills. The hiking trail is very short. We spent half a day here relaxing while on a road trip and the mellow atmosphere was just perfect. Convenient to and from Hattiesburg/rt 59 as well as from Mobile.
Yay: Campground is nice and shady and all the sites are close to the water. Clean with basic facilities. Simple but nice nature setting. Close to trails in the national forest.
Nay: No complaints, but if you don’t have a boat there’s not much to do on site.
Surprise: They stock the lake with fish. Loved walking out onto the pier.
TravelerOverall I like the campground it is nice and mostly quiet the hiway does produce a bit of road noise but we could not hear it in the camper with the windows closed. Nice little dog park. Lots of turns so go slow and know your rig
GuideVery friendly and helpful staff. Park is very well maintained. The park is very much off the beaten path so it is quiet and peaceful. There is a lot to do within the park– swimming, fishing(no license required), basketball, a playground for children, a dog park, a dog wash station. They just finished building a beautiful out door area with a kitchen, tables/chairs, game area, bathrooms and etc. Need to fill in the potholes in the drive. Need the gravel pad to be larger so you do not need step out into mud.
LegendSeriously one of the more relaxing parks we've been to in a while. Plenty of space between sites, lots of trees and water views! We were in site 4, which was quite level and easy to back in to. Also had full hookups!!! No loud golf carts this week either! Our site was around 35 dollars a night with taxes. Family and pet friendly.
LegendDrove in a night so wasn't able to appreciate the beauty until the next morning. Decent sized lake with hiking trails and fishing.. picnic tables which makes for easy cooking when your used to nation Forrest with no amenities. Pet friendly and quiet. The 2nd night we were there met an awesome group of hikers that where on a multi day hike can't remember the name of the trail. Would recommend staying here.
Guidethis is a small private campground. Sites were roomy and mgm't was very helpful. They have a nice 'laundry' room and can't beat $1.50/washer & $1.00 for dryer. A short drive to Hattiesburg.
ScoutBeen going to Paul B for more that 40 years. Love it’s wide open views and lake sites. Big lake with rental boats available. Beautiful beach & swimming behind the lodge & another swimming area to cool off. Disc golf course is fun. New water splash pad is tons of fun (extra $). Hattiesburg is about 8 miles away with lots to do - movies, dining, churches, etc.
TravelerNice and quit. Security cameras throw out the park. Have handicap bathrooms and Laundry room. Very clean throw out the park. Place to walk your dogs.
GuideThis was the nicest campground we stayed at on our 4 week trip. Our level site was on a lovely pond, with a friendly duck. This is the first architecturally designed KOA facility I've seen in two years of camping in our RV. It looked new. It was nicely done. The pool is a good size, the communal kitchen area has barstools on two sides. They had two TVs and an inside/outside fireplace. The bathrooms have granite countertops, and very nice tile. I wish we'd brought our dog because they had a professional quality bathing/grooming room with a professional dog dryer. There are walking trails that look lovely. The woman who checked us in couldn't have been nicer, as was everyone we encountered at the campground. I wish we'd been able to stay longer and we hope to come back soon.
