Best Cabin Camping near Bay St. Louis, MS

Buccaneer State Park and Bay St. Louis RV Park and Campground offer cabin accommodations near the Gulf of Mexico. These cabins provide essential amenities including electricity, water hookups, and bathroom access through nearby facilities. Most cabins include basic furnishings with varying levels of comfort depending on the specific location. "The bathrooms are clean & well kept," notes one visitor about the facilities at Buccaneer State Park. Additional cabin options can be found at Fontainebleau State Park Campground, Davis Bayou Campground, and Gulfport KOA Holiday, all within driving distance of Bay St. Louis.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Pet policies vary by property, with most allowing pets but imposing restrictions on size, breed, or number. Buccaneer State Park offers more private cabin settings tucked into wooded areas, while beachfront options provide Gulf views. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially during summer months when the water park at Buccaneer is operational. Based on reviews from The Dyrt, "Each site has a picnic table and charcoal grill (with the exception of Royal Cay Loop)," though this varies between standard and premium locations.

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Kitchen facilities typically include minimal cooking equipment, so bringing personal cookware is advisable. Several campgrounds feature on-site markets or camp stores with basic provisions, particularly at Buccaneer State Park and Gulfport KOA Holiday. Firewood is available for purchase at select locations for guests planning to cook outdoors. Access to drinking water is available at nearly all cabin locations, though supply points may be communal rather than in-cabin. Refrigerators and cooking appliances are limited in more rustic cabins, so coolers and portable cooking equipment are recommended for longer stays.

    Buccaneer State Park Campground

It’s a great place for families

Beautiful park in a nice area. Lots of activities for the kids (in season) and plenty to do and see nearby. Waveland and Bay St Louis have lots of waterfront bars & eateries and there’s a casino nearby. Certainly more expensive than any state park we have stayed in - especially when the season has ended and the pool & water park are shut down.

    Land-O-Pines Family Campground

    Pleasant campground

Land-O-Pines is a nice private RV park near Folsom and Covington. We stayed two nights because my daughter was in a horse competition at a nearby horse farm. The sites are mostly shady. The streets and sites are gravel and can get a little muddy in spots after a rain. The park was clean and quiet, and the staff was friendly. About half the sites are for permanent users.

Stayed in pull-through campsite C69 which was shady and level. It was a gravel site. There was enough parking for my 34 ft TT and truck. Neighbors are nearby by not on top of you. The site included: picnic table on gravel, no fire ring. Utilities: 20/50A electric near the middle. The 20A receptacle looked like it had some minor burn marks. Water next to power pole, good pressure. Sewer near power pole with 4 non screw-on fitting.

AT&T had 2 bars of LTE and Verizon full bars of LTE service. AT&T Speedtest: 30.8 Mbps down, 3.6 Mbps up. Verizon Speedtest: 4.5 Mbps down, 11.8 Mbps up. WiFi available, but did not use. Required a login.

Would stay here again. We camped at Land-O-Pines Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

New Orleans RV Resort & Marina

Nice park, but a little overpriced

Pontchartrain Landing is nice RV park. We had a great weekday stay in late December and the weather was nice. Its not far from downtown New Orleans. When you first get off the Interstate, the area looks abandoned and a little sketchy, but it is ok. Apple Maps guided me right to the park. There is a restaurant and bar, but we didnt eat there. I enjoyed walking and sitting along the water in the mornings. The occasional noise from airplanes taking off from nearby Lakefront Airport was a small detraction. Playground was not much.   Place is fenced at gated for added security.

Stayed in waterfront campsite#21, but view was partially blocked by houseboats.  Pretty disappointed for $89/night.  Back-in site with gravel parking and a picnic table. No BBQ pit or fire ring. 15A/30A/50A, water, sewer, and cable TV hookups. Site was pretty level. Awning faced north so we had some shade from the sun. There was a flower bed with palm trees between the sites. Not much shade in the park. The site is located on the water. Neighbor was at least 20 ft. Away. Roads in the park were gravel creating some dust. Both AT&T and Verizon had good signal(3 bars each). AT&T Speedtest= 26.8 Mbps down, x 6.5 Mbps up. Free Wi-Fi is available at the office/restaurant and paid available it the sites. Did not use the Wi-Fi.

Overall, not impressed for the price, but would stay here again. We camped at New Orleans RV Resort& Marina in a Travel Trailer.

    Lakeview RV Resort

Standard RV Parking Lot w/ [Of Course] Lake View!

Despite the appearance of an unglorified RV parking lot with basically zero privacy and not much space in between the individual RV’s, this spot is a decent stopover if you need to pull your mobile living room over for a short spell. Lakeview RV Resort has more than 100 individual parking lanes for residents and I found the community to be inviting and friendly  there’s even some social gatherings poolside (very nice feature) each night around sundown.

Of course, the gem of this place is the 16 acre lake, which I was able to get my kayak into for a few quick handful of laps early in the morning. If you’re driving an RV or hauling a camper behind your SUV, then this concrete camping parking lot just off of Highway 15 (due north of Interstate 10) near Saucier may just be the perfect spot for you. But if you’re a diehard tent camper like I am, you’ll be out of luck.

With ample slanted and elongated parking lanes for your parking pleasure, all of the sites come equipped with the typical 30 / 50 amp electrical hook-ups, waste disposal and water connections, picnic tables, garbage receptacles and even a community BBQ. Additionally, they’ve got a small boat launch, cement / asphalt pads, internet, laundr-O-mat, pavilion for large group events and propane for sale. The restrooms were pretty decent (but could use a serious power spraying).  You’ll discover that both RV’s as well as even a handful of cabins / cottages comingle here, but basically, this is a site designed for and around RV’s.

Insider’s Tip? Near this RV parking lot, you do have access to all of the nightlife and entertainment you would expect to find in nearby Biloxi, and of course, there’s the world-famous Gulf Shores beachheads that are just a short drive to. I’m a diehard foodie, so after a few days of cooking campside, I like to head into town for a nice local meal. There’s 2 great places I could recommend, right off RT. 10, due south of Lakeview RV Resort– either Puff Belly’s Brewery, Pizza& Grill(great live review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b55Vs2hnJk4&t=7s) or Fried Green Tomato, which lives up to its reputation as the Best Fried Green Tomatoes in the South(https://www.tasteofthesouthmagazine.com/souths-best-fried-green-tomatoes/).

Overall, for the price, convenience and location, Lakeview RV Resort isn’t a bad spot for a night to take a break.

    Happy Camping!

    Buccaneer State Park Campground

    Beach front camping

My husband and I stayed at Buccaneer at one of their beachfront spots. This was our first time at Buccaneer and we will definitely be back!

First off, the park has some serious amenities! Their bathhouses are new and very nice, they have a pool and laundromat, frisbee golf course, nature trail, a small beach, and a small water park! The pool and water park weren’t open yet, but they looked really nice.

They have a few different sections of the park. The beach front camping sites are on grass with electric and water. There weren’t any grills, fire rings, or picnic tables; but it was really nice.

We looked through the other camp grounds and they have good tree coverage, picnic tables, grills, and full hookups. Some of the spots had really nice fire rings that were recessed into the ground. We will definitely be back to try one of those spots!

I will say that the bugs were crazy bad at the beach in the morning and at dusk. Evidently they are worse this year, so just come prepared!

Overall this was a nice, newer park and we loved our stay. The area had plenty to do and the views were next level.

Davis Bayou Campground — Gulf Islands National Seashore

    Quaint and Beautiful

It was great to visit this hidden gem again and I was pleasantly surprised at what great shape it was in following Hurricane Irma and other tropical storms last year. We visited in late November/early December so the bugs weren't too bad at all. We did experience an incredible line of thunderstorms but managed to get some exploring in before the weather moved in.

There are only a few sites here and they are quite small, perfect for small RVs, tents or sleeping in your car. Large oaks and other vegetation provide ample shade for the cooler fall months. Our two four legged fellas enjoyed the flat open grass/dirt area around the campsite and were able to be on their leads without wandering too far in to the thick brush on the edge of the site.

There's a small picnic table that can be moved quite easily as well as well maintained fire rings at each site. There is fresh water available and electric hookups at each site. The bathrooms are clean, as are the showers. The ranger at the entrance station was friendly and chatty. From the campground you can walk along the road (back toward the Visitor's Center) a ways and the duck into the woods or jump on the boardwalk. Keep your eyes peeled, there are some impressive alligators hanging around.

Davis Bayou Campground — Gulf Islands National Seashore

    Good for the Price

We paid $22 for a site with power and water here. There is a dump station but it's right in the middle of the campground near the bathhouse, kind of an awkward location.

This was a quick overnight for us, and we didn't spend much time outside because it was pretty muggy and buggy when we stayed here at the end of February. Also, sites are paved, but ours anyway had a pretty steep dropoff to the picnic table and fire pit so the site was just an awkward feeling spot.

Sites are kind of run down but for the price we were happy.

Free hot showers. No laundry machines.

Overall a good place if you need to dump/fill/shower, but not a place I'd come to as a destination.

Guide to Bay St. Louis

Cabins near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi provide year-round access to the Gulf Coast's moderate climate, where winter temperatures rarely drop below 40°F and summer highs typically reach the low 90s. The area sits at near sea level elevation with a mix of coastal plains and bayou ecosystems that create diverse camping environments. Hurricane season (June-November) affects camping conditions, with most cabin properties implementing specific storm preparation protocols.

What to do

Beach access: Both Buccaneer State Park Campground and nearby cabin accommodations offer Gulf Coast beach opportunities. "We came to play disc golf. It was a very nice course. Loved our campsite. It backed up to some woods & had a lot of space. There is a water park as well. Close proximity to a beautiful beach," notes Brie M. in her review of Buccaneer State Park.

Disc golf course: The 18-hole disc golf course at Buccaneer State Park provides a challenging outdoor activity for cabin guests. The course winds through wooded areas and open spaces with minimal fees for play. "We camped at Buccaneer at one of their beachfront spots. This was our first time at Buccaneer and we will definitely be back," shares Ashley S., who appreciated the multiple recreation options.

Biking trails: Fontainebleau State Park Campground offers paved biking paths accessible directly from cabin areas. "Great paved bike trail that you can get to from the campground. Be careful booking a pull thru site if your unit is over 25', they're horseshoe shaped," advises Martha S. The trail system connects to additional routes along Lake Pontchartrain.

What campers like

Privacy levels: Cabin sites at Davis Bayou Campground offer varying degrees of seclusion. "Close enough to civilization, but far enough to feel secluded. It's far enough in the woods to where you don't hear much of the city traffic, but close enough to where emergency vehicles could reach you very quickly in case something happened," explains Kaylin R., highlighting the balance of isolation and safety.

Wildlife viewing: Cabin rentals throughout the Bay St. Louis region provide opportunities to observe local wildlife. "Lots of nature trails and outdoor exploring inside the campground," notes Anna B. about Davis Bayou. At Fontainebleau State Park, Danny comments, "We love this campground cause has lots of wildlife."

Water features: Multiple cabin rental locations feature water attractions. "We enjoyed riding our bikes around the campground and the trails in the park. We also took the trace to town and rode along the lake. The beach is lovely and the water felt great. There is also a splash pad," says Gregg G. about Fontainebleau State Park's amenities.

What you should know

Reservation timing: During peak season, cabin availability becomes limited at most Gulf Coast locations. "Reserve early," advises Doug D. about Majestic Oaks RV Resort, which offers cabin accommodations. "Amazing staff, clean, big showers, heated pool year round, plenty of washers and driers for 24/7 laundry days, gated community, plenty of space, has its own dog park," adds Sam G.

Weather considerations: Hurricane season affects cabin rentals in this coastal region, with most properties implementing specific cancellation policies. Summer humidity levels frequently exceed 80% while winter months offer more comfortable conditions with occasional cold snaps requiring cabin heating.

Transportation needs: Most cabin rentals require personal vehicles for accessing beaches, shopping, and attractions. "Located directly off Highway 90 in Ocean Springs, this campground has water and electric hookups, along with clean bathrooms," notes Anna B. about Davis Bayou, highlighting its convenient location but limited on-site amenities.

Tips for camping with families

Water park access: Gulfport KOA Holliday provides cabin accommodations with family-friendly amenities nearby. "All the amenities you need and expect from a KOA. The only difference is that it's new and not run down. Pull through sites are level and concrete," shares Matt O. about this recently developed property.

Kid-friendly hiking: Short nature trails suitable for children exist at multiple cabin rental locations. "There were plenty of trails, fishing areas & lots to explore and see," notes Kimsey C. about Davis Bayou's family-appropriate outdoor activities.

Playground availability: Several cabin rental properties feature playground equipment for younger visitors. "Lots of trees and shade, paved roads for kids to ride bikes, large playground area, some short hiking trails," mentions Nicole R. when describing family amenities at Buccaneer State Park.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: Cabin renters can benefit from reviewing site maps before booking. "When we reserved online, we did not see the ditch on the campsite map, but it's clearly marked on the CG map we received at check-in," explains MickandKarla W. about Clearwater RV Park, which offers both RV sites and cabins. "They had a beautiful lit up pond with a fountain and water wheel at night," adds Ashlyn B.

Seasonal rates: Cabins in the Bay St. Louis region typically offer lower rates during off-peak seasons (November-February). "Certainly more expensive than any state park we have stayed in - especially when the season has ended and the pool & water park are shut down," notes David J. about Buccaneer State Park's pricing structure.

Supplies needed: Most cabin rentals require guests to bring specific items. "No wifi, no laundry but clean bathrooms and shower. Electric and water at the campsites and a dump station is available. Close to town and all the good eats," explains Doug D. about Davis Bayou, emphasizing the need to plan for limited on-site services.
