Best Cabin Camping near Hastings, MI

Cabin options near Hastings, Michigan include furnished rentals at Welcome Woods Family Campground and Michawana Campground. Most cabins feature electricity, picnic tables, fire rings, and basic furnishings. Some include private bathrooms while others require guests to use centralized shower facilities. "The bathrooms and showers are a pretty far walk so plan on driving or riding bikes. They do have outhouses closer to the sites, which were clean and did not smell," notes one camper about Welcome Woods. Heating and cooling systems vary by location, with some rustic cabins offering only fans while more deluxe options provide air conditioning and heating for year-round comfort.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Tyler Creek offers basic cabin rentals with electric hookups, while Hidden Ridge RV Resort provides more upscale cabin accommodations with full amenities. Most cabins sleep between 2-6 people, with varying bed configurations including bunk beds for children. Pet policies differ between campgrounds—Welcome Woods Family Campground and Michawana allow pets in select cabins for an additional fee. A visitor commented, "This campsite is perfect for children! The workers are the nicest people I have encountered at a campsite."

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Kitchen facilities range from simple countertops with microwaves to full kitchenettes with refrigerators and stovetops. Fort Custer Recreation Area and Bertha Brock County Park cabins typically provide only basic amenities, requiring guests to bring cooking equipment. On-site stores at several campgrounds, including Welcome Woods, offer basic provisions and camping supplies. Indian Valley Campground features both electric and non-electric cabin options, though visitors note "they do have lots of weird & small fees, so keep that in mind."

    Kal-Haven Outpost

Great place to bike to, spacious cabins, amazing staff

A group of us bike from Kalamazoo to South Haven every year using the Kal-Haven trail. We usually tent camp but tried a cabin here this year. It was the perfect option as the campground is right off the trail. They provide linens and have basic supplies (including firewood that they will deliver to your cabin) right at the general store. We also met a group that had hiked in to the primative sites and were using the trail to train for the Appalachian Trail. Everything is well-made and maintained, and the staff is friendly and helpful (they even let us check-in early when we biked in ahead of schedule). Highly recommend for those looking for a place close to the trail and to South Haven. The cabins have three queen beds and a sofa sleeper so they can comfortably hold up to eight people (we had five in our group and I never felt crowded). There's a large table inside and two chairs on the porch. There's also a large picnic table outside, a fire pit, and a grill. They are hoping to expand and add cabins sized for couples in the near future.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp Resort-South Haven, MI

This is my top pick for South Haven

Although this campground has great amenities, a pool, clean showers, and good sites/cabins, it is hard to book. If you know you are going to come to this area and camp, you need to book it a while in advance. I have used a pop-up and there was good space between campers. When I tent camped, we had a great spot near the cafe, the showers are amazing over there, they are more secluded. Our tent spot had electric, water, picnic table and fire ring. We camped on the grass and there is gravel to park your car. This campground is a perfect place to stay when visiting surrounding towns and going to the beach.

Don’t forget to go to Sherman’s!!

There was a forecast or rain, don’t mind the tarp

    Sleepy Hollow State Park Campground

    Beautiful Park

Rangers working the area are very friendly. Many options to choose from in terms of camping, from rustic, tent to fully functional cabin lodging. The park is very large, so it is always good to have a vehicle able to drive to the trails and beach. Campsites are decent sized, can fit probably 3 four person tents per site, which includes a concrete firepit and picnic table. In the north campsites there is a lot of tree covering, and there are a lot of walnut trees that were shedding a lot this time of the year. Bathrooms are well spaced between the campsites you, and have showers along with some vending machines outside of them. Spigots are scattered throughout and are very accessible. Be sure to bring at least 100 feet of extension chord if you want electricity, because the power ports are not as accessible from some areas. Overall very pleasant campground.

    Oak Grove Resort & Campground

Great RV Resort close to Lake Michigan

Clean family friendly RV Resort. Pool, hot tub, modern restrooms and showers, playground, laundry and bike rentals. I believe all the sites are full hookup, cable t.v. and wi/fi. Less than a mile to Lake Michigan and close to boat launch and Lake Macatawa.

    Cold Brook County Park

    Nice little county park!

29 campsites pretty close together with old growth trees interspersed around the campground. Fishing pier and boating, playground area, and beach. No longer has primitive camping. Some hiking trails...short. is next to a busy road, so traffic all night. Staff was great! Showers and bathrooms cleaned multiple times a day. Pet friendly. Would stay here again!

    East Lake Camping

    Great Hospitality

Nice and cozy little campground in the middle of beautiful rolling farmlands. First time passing through and found it conveniently located within 40 mins of Holland and Saugatuck without needing to get on the highway. The woman at check in was extremely courteous and helpful. We stayed 2 nights over the weekend. Most people here are seasonal, occupying almost all the lakefront sites. We may have seen one lakefront available for renters. Everyone was polite, friendly and quiet after quiet hours. The sites are very small, not much privacy, but well kept. There are more spacious sites available on the upper grassy loop. Well kept grounds throughout with beautiful flowers. The bathrooms were wonderful with great hot water and water pressure. Pretty lake with swimming beach and playground lovely for day use. We would stay again. We stayed with 34’ camper inner lakefront.  I did share a picture of waterfront sites, the one vacant spot is the only site available to rent right now.  The rest are seasonal.

    Sleepy Hollow State Park Campground

    Absolutely great time!

Walk-in site F was literally the perfect campsite. Fully secluded (except a few curious hikers who stopped in around lunchtime), easy 1 mile walk from parking lot, can kayak right up to it on the calm lake, hammock posts, picnic table, fire pit, gorgeous night sky views. A+ and 10/10

    Tyler Creek

Give them at least a weekend!

Campground is small but got to know owners just recently purchased last year and are on the uphill of making this a great little place. Great customer service and friendly faces. Other families we met at the pool were super friendly and inviting like we had been coming here for years. Bathrooms, crafts shed and such are a little run down but again optimistic that this new family will do great things. Weekend golf cart rentals for 90 bucks which is a steal! Also the clubhouse for the golf course has a little common area with games and tv plus the bar makes great and cheap drinks which is a fun things for the adults to do! Great little family park, quiet and small but worth at least a weekend!

"Michigan State park with large sites and lots of privacy. $25per night with electric. Several no wake lakes for kayaking, canoeing and fishing. One lake with swimming beach," reports a visitor who appreciated the water access options.

What campers like

Secluded sites: Cabin camping locations offer varying levels of privacy. "We've stayed at both sites listed. 161 you do have neighbors pretty close, but we just stayed at 51 and it is extremely secluded! We had an amazing time tent camping it was so quiet!" notes a camper about Fort Custer Recreation Area.

"Playgrounds, Lake, dump station, well stocked store, some shaded sites, clean bathrooms by the store, pit toilets throughout the campground," explains a visitor who gave the campground five stars.

Night sky viewing: The absence of light pollution enhances stargazing opportunities from cabin porches. "I loved the lack of lights in the park at night making for a beautiful night sky," mentions one visitor about Fort Custer, highlighting an often overlooked natural amenity.

What you should know

Bathroom accessibility: Consider bathroom locations when booking cabins without private facilities. According to a visitor at Indian Valley Campground & Canoe Livery, "Keep in mind when booking that many of the sites don't have on site water!"

Seasonal variations: Weather conditions impact camping experiences throughout the year. "It was overcast upon arrival only to have the sun shine down the next day. Site conditions: Terrain varies significantly between cabin locations. "Sites have electrical service only. Must use the dump station," notes a visitor about Fort Custer sites, pointing out the limited hookups available at some locations despite having cabin accommodations.

About 5 sites I seen can accommodate larger rvs," notes a visitor who found the campground peaceful despite nearby facilities.
