Great out of the way spot close to town

With covid changing campgrounds to require reservations, we found a spot here over the weekend. We got one of a couple open sites. Upon arrival the horseflies greeted us with curiosity. They seemed to leave us after we finished setting up but we still put up our screen room. Sites that are near…

Great free campsite

A nice free campsite. Amenities are pit toilet, campfire, and picnic tables. There are trails but currently they’re closed.

Hmm... Can't be summarized, read the review

Upon pulling into the Alpine Campground after hours,  we were approached by an elderly women while looking at the board for after hours check in protocol.  Inga, who was the owner, had my husband go into the office which had hanging taxidermy mounts all over as well has "stuff" she has been…

Beautiful lake views and big sites

Campground is a hidden gem - these sites are huge and if you can get one of the sites right on the lake, do it! We reserved a site last minute and stayed on site 1933 which had a slight lake view but site 1925 looked amazing. Families staying here had kids swimming right off the campsite in the…

Good WiFi

Nice stop to get good WiFi. Otherwise, it’s not a very rustic camping experience. Great if you’re into that kind of RV park.

Amazing camping right in the park

Willow River State Park in Wisconsin is an amazing camp site and since it's in a state park the rates are quite reasonable as well. There are tons of hiking trails that start right In the campground. My favorite hike is to the waterfall and walking up the steps to get to the top of it. I am…

Best campsite.... hidden gem

Me and the kids took a road trip from North Carolina to Wisconsin over the summer during Covid to get away. We stopped at several states and several campgrounds and this one to this day is still our favorite. Even though less amenities since there’s no showers... the site and scenery made that less…

Legacy and a Gem

We first stayed at Alpine Campground this summer and we ended up staying twice on two separate trips. Both times we needed a place to rest for a night on our way to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and later to Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. We think we discovered something special.…

Beautiful Small Campground!

This was a beautiful small campground with only 6 campsites arranged around a loop and are spaced well. Access to the campground is off of a gravel road which is somewhat narrow. When I arrived 9/7/20 there was only one other camper so I had my pick of sites which were all relatively level. I…

Lovely place

This place has always been well maintained. Clean facilities. There is plenty of space in between camping or RV spots. If your looking for a place that isn't crammed packed full of people this is it. Utv trails to Wisconsin can be accessed right here. There are waterfalls nearby that are off the…

A place to work!

I was happy to have service in the woods. We were able to work and talk nice walks while we had free time.

A few bars with Verizon and we can log on. Big plus.

The rapids them selves were small, but I’m sure you could swim if it was a bit warmer.

Dispersed camping here so we did not have to…

Updated and all amenities

For the last 3 years the county has hired a new manager who lives on site. The county put in a new shower house that would make a college locker room look weak. All hookups available, and sewer service is an added perk. The new manager has updated all picnic tables, gravel, docks, signs, and…

User friendly & close to town and quiet

Great place to stay. Right next to Black River. Sites sit back from highway so easy access and quiet. Open year round. Showers. Owner is friendly and very helpful.

Beautiful place!

Spacious and level sites, all mowed grass. Very clean bathrooms with hot showers. Absolutely sweetest older lady running the place...she brought me a piece of cheesecake that she made and gave my dog some dog treats, too! Firewood was reasonably priced and a generous amount. I will definitely stay…
