Quiet mid-week visits and an attentive on-site caretaker are two things campers have noted about this US Forest Service site in Manistee National Forest. Drive-in access accommodates RVs up to 75 feet. The campground sits near a lake and operates seasonally from mid-May through mid-September. Vault toilets are checked and cleaned regularly by staff. Cell service is available, and pets are welcome. Mitchell State Park Campground lies a few miles east for campers wanting a second option nearby. Arriving in June tends to mean lighter crowds based on visitor reports.
Description
Hemlock Campground This campground is located on the west end of Lake Mitchell near Cadillac. The lake is 1,600 acres and nearly surrounded by residences. The west end of the lake is marshy and good for wildlife viewing. The lake is not good for swimming at this end, due to milfoil and other plants. Flickr Photo Album
