Village Green Campground is family oriented and incorporates activities for all ages. Located in Pioneer Valley, the campground boasts a variety of activities nearby including the Brimfield Antique Show and historic old Sturbridge Village.

## Overview

West Thompson Lake Campground is located near the wooded shoreline of its namesake lake in northeastern Connecticut. The natural setting surrounding West Thompson Lake can be enjoyed year round. Visitors come to the lake for camping, fishing, boating, kayaking and hiking.

## Recreation

West Thompson Lake provides great boating, kayaking, canoeing and fishing opportunities. It has an excellent population of warm-water fish, including bass and small panfish. A boat ramp is located near the campground for easy access to the water. The Thompson Section of the Quinebaug River Water Trail offers a leisurely three-hour outing for paddlers who are comfortable with moving water. The trail has no rapids or portages and meanders through extensive wildlife habitats. An 18-hole disc golf course is located on the lakeshore and is free to the public. This challenging course is known for its long drives and scenic views of the lake and dam.

## Facilities

The entrance gate to the campground is closed from 9pm - 8am.

The campground offers 11 campsites with electric and water hookups, 11 basic sites without hookups and two Adirondack lean-to shelters.   
Amenities include accessible flush toilets and showers, and a dump station. An amphitheater, playground, basketball court, and interpretive trails are located on-site.

## Natural Features

The campground is nestled in a forest of Eastern white pine, Northern red oak and Shagbark hickory. Shade is abundant throughout the campground, and autumn leaves put on a beautiful show.  
  
An overlook at the dam offers pleasing panoramic views for sightseers and photographers.

West Thompson Lake Campground

Brialee Family Campground is located in the Northeast Corner of Connecticut, on 120 acres of beautiful grounds, surrounded by the Natchaug State Forest. A true country setting, with rolling hills, forest, and farms.&nbsp; Brialee was founded by Ed& Addie Specyalski in 1974, and is still being run by the Specyalski family today! With planned and supervised activities for all ages, staples like ceramics, bingo, free crafts, and live entertainment every weekend, and park amenities like a pond, pool, splash pad, and more.​ Brialee is proud of maintaining a family-run business that has a strong focus and dedication to family camping, and is built on referrals and positive feedback from camping families like you.

## Overview

Buffumville Lake Group Shelters are located on their namesake lake in the forested hills of southern Massachusetts.   
  
Buffumville Lake was recognized as the Project of the Year in 2000 for its state-of-the-art facilities, including BMX-style bike jumps, mountain biking trails and a 27-hole disc golf course.   
  
Visitors can also enjoy more traditional activities like boating, fishing, hunting and hiking.

#### Natural Features:

The scenic 200-acre lake is surrounded by mixed forests of white pine, hemlock, red maple, alder and birch trees. Fall colors are spectacular in the region.   
  
Wildlife, including fox, fishers, woodchucks, coyotes, hawks, and a wide variety of songbirds and waterfowl, is abundant throughout the area.

#### Recreation:

Buffumville Lake provides excellent boating, canoeing and swimming opportunities. The lake is a warm-water fishery with good populations of largemouth bass, pickerel, horned pout, bream and more.   
  
Hikers and bikers enjoy exploring the 7.2-mile Lake Shore Trail, which begins at the beach and circles the lake. Scenic views and wildlife viewing opportunities are plentiful along the trail.  
  
The Buffumville Lake Disc Golf Course contains 27 challenging holes that wind through the scenic project lands. The hilly terrain contains a mixture of open fairways, woods and water hazards.

#### Facilities:

This day-use area contains two group picnic areas. The Shoreline Shelter is the larger of the two and near the water, while the Grove Shelter is under the pines in the quiet and cool shade. Picnic tables and grills are provided. Unreserved shelters are available for use on a first come, first served basis.   
  
Amenities include flush toilets and drinking water. The park offers a boat ramp, volleyball court, horseshoe pit, trails and a swim beach, making it an ideal area for parties and family functions. Park rangers provide educational programs and a Junior Ranger Program for kids age 6-12.

Buffumville Lake (Group Shelters)

Westville Lake is situated on the Quinebaug River in the towns of Southbridge and Sturbridge, Massachusetts. Westville offers a variety of hiking opportunities, group picnic shelters, a picnic cove, a large recreation field, canoe/kayak launches, and much more. Natural Features: The recreation area features a large open field, a picnic cove with trees for shade on those hot summer days, and beautiful waterside views for wildlife viewing. Recreation: Westville Lake offers two large picnic shelters for hosting any number of events, a canoe/kayak launch into a slow current river, fishing opportunities, plenty of charcoal grills and picnic tables for everyone to enjoy, and a trail network perfect for hiking for all ages. In the winter, there is an ice skating pond in the park and perfect sledding hills! Facilities: There are two large picnic shelters with electricity hook-ups, picnic tables, and grills available for use in the recreation area. There is a large picnic cove with many picnic tables and grills. There are also flush toilets, drinking water, and hiking trails available throughout the park. Nearby Attractions: Explore the living history museum of Old Sturbridge Village nearby.
