Best RV Parks & Resorts near Natchitoches, LA

Grand Ecore RV Park, located just a few miles from Natchitoches, stands out as one of the premier RV campgrounds in the area with well-spaced concrete pad sites and full hookups. This gated access park accommodates large motorhomes up to 45 feet with towed vehicles, offering both pull-through and back-in sites with 50 amp electrical service. Natchitoches Pecan Orchard RV Park provides big rig friendly sites with easy hookups, featuring full water, sewer, and electrical connections. Midway RV Park & Marina, open year-round with 28 sites, offers both 30 and 50 amp service for RVs in a waterfront setting. "Very spacious with some shady spots and lots of green grass. Roads are easy to navigate and concrete pads. I was able to park my 44 foot motorhome with a towed Jeep without unhooking," noted one Grand Ecore visitor.

The Natchitoches area RV parks generally maintain good accessibility for larger vehicles, though some entrance roads may present challenges. Magnolia Hill RV Park has a steep gravel entrance road, but travelers report successfully navigating it with 34-foot motorhomes towing vehicles. Most parks in the region are pet-friendly and offer amenities like WiFi, with Grand Ecore receiving particular praise for its strong signal. Sanitary dump stations are available at several locations including St. Luke RV Park and Colfax Recreation Area RV Park & Campground. During the popular Christmas festival in Natchitoches (late November through December), RV sites fill quickly and advance reservations become essential. Travelers should note that while some parks like Lakeview Mobile Home and RV Park offer lakefront sites, others like Shady Lake RV Park function more as residential communities with long-term occupants rather than traditional vacation campgrounds.

    Grand Ecore RV Park

Corps of Engineer/Red River Waterway Commission RV Park

A few miles from Natchitoches, LA and the nicest RV park in the area. Well spaced concrete pad level RV Sites with gated access. Combination pull through sand back in that accommodated our 45 ft. motorhome and Jeep towed. Rich with grassy areas and trees. Each site has a fire pit/BBQ and picnic tables. Next to boat launch that takes you to the Red River. Nice activity center available to all campers. Very organized concrete surrounded hookups next to pads. Playground and activity building with full kitchen open to all campers.

    Midway RV Park & Marina

Has everything I need including privacy

I was looking for a Louisiana location for an extended stay, I wanted to find a riverside, quiet location with large sites. A place where there was room for my travel trailer, boat, and truck. I found that and much more at Jones' Riverside Marina & RV Park.

It is in the country but not that far from the charming city of Natchitoches. The staff members are always friendly and helpful. There is a well-stocked store along with a carry-out restaurant (sit down part is closed due to covid-19). They have a free boat ramp and docks (very handy for me). The fishing is always good from the bank or a boat. My travel trailer is small but this facility is big rig friendly. I like the laid-back atmosphere and southern hospitality that is present here. This is not a huge, fancy, "resort", but those are not for me. I don't care for the crowds, noise, price, and many restrictions of those places. This RV Park emulates the real Louisiana!

South Toledo Bend State Park Campground

    ALMOST PERFECT

This was my first time at this beautiful state park. I will definitely come back! 3 days was not long enough to do everything! Our camper site was #46. It had a very large well kept wooden deck with a picnic table. The camper pad was long and concrete. It was slightly uneven, we used 3 blocks to level it off..There was also a large sand pad if you preferred a tent. A firepit was also there. Many of the other sites also had decks, with the same things available. It had water and electricity, a dump station, and very clean shower/restrooms . Also available were primitive camping sites with amazing views. Oh, did I mention that our site had a very short walk to a dock overlooking the beautiful lake. This dock had room for four boats! There are beautiful biking, and hiking trails, both concrete and dirt. Several play areas for the kids! There was a beach and swimming area, a nature center,, and playgrounds. The camp hosts were amazing and very helpful. The park was super clean, family and pet friendly, and a great price at 28 dollars a night. Happy camping!!

    Hidden Treasure RV Resort

    Great location

This campground is located on the Cotile lake in Boyce, Louisiana. And it's only about 8 or 10 minutes from I-49, but well worth the time. There is a small boat launch/fishing area. A couple of the guests are long term, but it is very quiet here. No matter what site you are in, you will need to level your rv. We are in site #17 and it overlooks the lake. Owners are fantastic. Highly recommend.

    Indian Mounds Recreation Area

    Quiet place to camp

Indian Mounds Campground is located in East Texas near the Texas-Louisiana border in the Sabine National Forest. It is a quiet and peaceful location to camp.

RV and tent campsites come with a fire ring, a picnic table, and potable water. Good views of the lake and situated in forest area. Nearby hiking, biking, swimming, and fishing. Not many campers in campground and that made for a great stay!

    Shady Lake RV Park

Feels like a Trailer Park rather than a Campground

I was out looking for a place to camp. I drove around the park. Some RV’s had dug in their sewer hoses for a more permanent living arrangement. There were other clues that verified some were living here very long term. You could tell some sites were set up like the people had been living there longer than a year.

While the owner was very nice and friendly, I just would not feel comfortable camping around people who live there long term.

I have since found out that this happens around Military Bases frequently. The reason is because it makes more financial sense for Military Personnel to not stay in base housing. Permanent Base Housing sucks their housing allowance away quickly. However, purchasing an RV and getting into a campground enables them to keep more of that money in their pockets.

This campground is near Fort Polk. I was told by one of the Army People that works there, this is what is happening with all of the RV resorts/campgrounds in the area. I understand what’s happening better now.

However, camping in a campground around a majority of the people that live in a place long term is more like moving into an old neighborhood. It’s equivalent to going to camp in a residential trailer park. That’s not camping. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Grand Bayou Resort

    Friendly and Quiet

I stayed at site 29 and the site was clean and level enough for my small camper. I went to plug in the power and the box was very old and no 30 amp plug. It only had a 50 amp and 110v plug. I have a 50 amp to 30 amp adapter but for some reason it was not in my box. I did have a 30 amp to 110v adapter so I had to go that route. There is a nice laundry, men and women’s bathroom with showers. On the men’s side of the 4 toilets 2 were out of service. The showers the water trickles out with little pressure but there was hot water. The showers along the walls need cleaning as there was mildew and maybe mold. The rest of the park was clean. The beach area and peers were very nice. There was dozens of people that are clearly living out here in the campground. Lots of them are really junked up. I paid $32 per night. You can tell this campground is minimally maintained given the broken toilets and unclean showers. The folks I met out here were super nice and very friendly. Fishing is really good and the swimming beach seemed very nice. They do have locked gates with security that makes rounds.

Guide to Natchitoches

RV parks near Natchitoches, Louisiana provide convenient access to the Red River waterway and nearby Kisatchie National Forest. Located in central Louisiana where elevation averages 125 feet above sea level, these campgrounds experience hot, humid summers with temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F and mild winters with occasional freezing temperatures. Many campgrounds in this region offer waterfront sites on rivers or lakes with boat launches for water recreation.

What to do

Fishing access: Colfax Recreation Area RV Park & Campground offers direct access to the Red River with facilities designed for anglers. "Nice place to go for a short weekend trip to get out the house and on the water! We like to let the kids kayak in the oxbow at the landing," notes Jessica B., who highlights the convenient location for water activities.

Playground facilities: Several campgrounds maintain playgrounds for children, particularly valuable during extended stays. "We especially liked the big playground and the floating dock," mentions Josh B. about Grand Ecore RV Park, making it suitable for families with young children needing activity options.

Water recreation: River Island RV Park combines multiple outdoor activities in one location. "They have an amazing place out there! Something for everyone, mud riding, fishing, trail rides, and sits right on the gorgeous Red River!" explains Ty J., describing the diverse recreation options available to campers.

What campers like

Lake views: Lakeview Mobile Home and RV Park offers waterfront camping with direct lake access. Gary A. describes the setting as "Country, peaceful, Lakefront RV spots Short or Long term," highlighting the serene environment that attracts both weekend visitors and extended-stay campers.

Concrete pads: Level, solid parking surfaces rank high in camper preferences. "We stayed 3 nights and it was a peaceful visit. There were plenty of sites to choose from, all on clean concrete pads," notes Lea B. about Natchitoches Pecan Orchard RV Park, emphasizing the importance of stable parking surfaces.

Clean facilities: Hidden Treasure RV Resort maintains well-kept amenities despite its rustic setting. "Bath house is sqeeky clean. Laundry available on site," reports Cat R., who also mentions the "gorgeous view of Cotile Lake" from site 19, though she notes the site required leveling blocks.

What you should know

Site leveling requirements: Many campgrounds in the area have uneven terrain requiring equipment for leveling. "Not all sites are level, but that may change with their improvements," notes Cheryl G. about Hidden Treasure RV Resort, suggesting campers bring leveling blocks.

Residential vs. vacation atmosphere: Some parks primarily serve long-term residents rather than vacationers. "I have since found out that this happens around Military Bases frequently. The reason is because it makes more financial sense for Military Personnel to not stay in base housing," explains Granny C. about her experience at Shady Lake RV Park.

Weather considerations: Louisiana's climate affects camping comfort significantly throughout the year. Summer humidity can be intense while winter nights occasionally drop below freezing. Most reviewers visit during spring and fall when temperatures remain moderate.

Tips for camping with families

Activity centers: St Luke RV Park balances convenience with natural surroundings. Amy N. notes, "This location is close to the hwy and yet feels like you are out in the middle of nature. We LOVE IT!!" This combination offers accessibility while maintaining a camping atmosphere.

Wildlife viewing: Multiple campgrounds feature bird feeders and natural habitats. Cat R. describes Hidden Treasure RV Resort as having "beautiful mature trees, some which have several bird feeders attached! Wildlife galore," creating educational opportunities for children to observe local fauna.

Tips from RVers

Entrance road navigation: Steep access roads require proper vehicle power. "Entrance road is gravel and very steep but I was able to drive my 34' motor home up pulling my jeep no problem," shares Mark J. about Magnolia Hill RV Park, providing critical information for drivers of larger rigs.

Staff flexibility: Love's RV Stop offers exceptional service during emergencies. "We blew a tire and everywhere was closed, so we had to drive to Shreveport and they let us stay as long as we needed to the next day until we got it fixed," explains Michelle C., highlighting the importance of supportive management during travel complications.

Laundry services: Multiple campgrounds provide on-site laundry facilities, important for extended trips. "We liked having laundry on site, clean and affordable," notes Casey L. about Natchitoches Pecan Orchard RV Park, mentioning this convenience alongside the "large pull through sites with easy hook ups."
