Lake D'Arbonne State Park — New Lake D'arbonne State Park

    Quiet and clean

The park was very quiet and clean. The shower house and bathrooms were clean too. We camped in a tent and they have sand pits for the tents to sit in. The park is beautiful, especially right now with a the changing colors of the trees.

The locals and park rangers are also very nice. I locked my keys in my car and the park ranger helped me get ahold to a person to unlock it. He also gave us some camping tips and helped us build a fire and gather firewood.

    Nice Location

I rented a tent site, perfect location under the trees but enough room to see the stars at night. Although it was full it was fairly quiet. The showers, though not fancy by any means, we’re a nice touch after riding the mountain bike trails all day. Trails give you enough miles to get a good workout in but something (most) of the family could do together.

    Chemin-A-Haut State Park

Amazing state park, sadly underfunded. Still worth a trip.

Pretty state park, swimming pool during summer, gorgeous trails on an enchanting bayou, wooded back in slots with a camp host, not much to do in Bastrop but this park is a great attraction. No sewage but there is a dump station. There is also tent camping, cabins, and equestrian camping and trails but there have been budget cuts that prevent horse trail maintenance and road repairs, so you don’t know what you’ll get sometimes. The park has playgrounds and pavilions.

Lake D'Arbonne State Park — New Lake D'arbonne State Park

Beautiful state park with something for everyone

This lakeside state park has RV and tent camping, cabins, lodges and YURTS available. There are also day use pavilions available for family reunions, employee barbecues or birthday celebrations. You can also rent a meeting room in the visitors center.

There are lots of recreational opportunities which include hiking, biking, fishing, canoe and kayak rentals, tennis courts and an 18-hole disc golf course. They also have a large hiking trail system. Closed right now but available Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend they also have a really large swimming pool. A tornado hit the park in March 2021 and there’s still some trees down and a brief section of the trail I walked on today that wasn’t accessible but it is an easy detour amazing how much they have restored.

    Beautiful convienent

Easy $25 for one night while traveling through west coast to east coast to relocate. We were doing hotel camping every other and this is one we decided on with its convenience to Walmart and many other food places. Ruston is also an adorable little downtown areas to explore and has that heart of Louisiana fill. It’s also close to west Monroe where Duck dynasty hometown so that was a fun plus to visit! We did stay in winter season with rain and cold. We have been tenting and enjoy being endured of all nature has so offer this has beautiful fishing hiking and a friendly camp host who was accommodating. They have wood for sale if needed. Water hookup ,electric hookup, showers bathrooms. Which we chose site 43 right next to the restroom house. I would love to come back when weather is better and we aren’t travel driving lagged to enjoy all it had to offer! You do receive a gate code when in person check in so if you book online see if you have received that too!

    Such a lovely place

Lake Darbonne is our first experience with camping. I really didn’t know what to expect but we really loved it : the staff is really helpful, the campsite is really cosy (and not crowded during week days), the view on the lake is beautiful, etc.

We already planned to go back there on our way home to Louisiana.

    Secluded Beauty

Secluded in the North Louisiana Farms, on Lake D’arbonne, with large forest trails. Immense campground with back to forest or lake front and all have RV hookup. RV pumping station available. Campsites bear beach and trails. Cabins near the group pavillians and building. Renovated bathrooms and laundry. Kayak and canoe for rent for day. Boat dock and fishing pier.

    Very nice renovated facilities!

This is a hidden gem north of Bastrop, Louisiana. Have camped here on multiple occasions. Every time there have been very few campers so it's almost like having the entire campgrounds to yourself. Raccoons are very curious and obviously human fed because they will walk right up to you. Best feature in the park is the Chemin-A-Haut Creek were 1000 year old Cypress trees are scattered throughout. Rent a kayak or canoe to paddle to them.

    Wonderful state park

Bathrooms are hands down the best I’ve ever seen. Campsites aren’t on top of each other but are pretty close. My tent wouldn’t fit on the tent pad but was able to find a level spot to set up anyways. The lake was pretty busy with people fishing or paddling. Two room cabins looked pretty great and are on the water. Had two playgrounds and kids trail. Went to go to kayak out to Castle Tree and found out the water was too high to really see the base of it and it’s a two hr paddle upstream on the way there. So plan on calling ahead if you’re going to do that since the water can also be too low.

We loved Lincoln park. Great tent areas with a CLEAN bath house pretty close. Real shaded areas. Very clean and kid friendly. It’s gated and locked at night which is nice. Next time we are bringing our bikes for the paved walking trail. Really enjoyed this site.

    Secluded primitive camping

Great primitive camping right by the lake. A few good spots to park boats/boards on the bank steps away from the campsite. Restroom with no sink or showers. Running water on site. Boat ramp is large concrete. Free to camp. Great spot to pitch a tent and get away from it all

    Louisiana Herbs on Breston Plantation

You wouldn't think this is a campground, but it totally is

Breston was an amazing host!!! DEFINITELY call or text him to reserve a site. The historic plantation is absolutely gorgeous. We got the grand tour of the land, and Breston’s impressive herb farm. The love and passion Breston has for horticulture really shines through his work here. I’m a house plant nerd, and I loved learning about the ins and outs(and scientific names!) of outdoor plants! He’s got some for sale as well. We were going to pick up a patchouli plant, but I am spacey and completely forgot to ask by the time we left.

Breston made us drinks with mint fresh from his garden, and offered a local beer(both delicious! He makes a mean julep!) His homemade gumbo was*chef’s kiss*. We walked back to our tent in the clearing behind the house with full bellies and good spirits.

There are lots of spots to pitch your tent on property. We chose the clearing in the back, surrounded by towering trees, next to the levee. We brought bare minimum sleeping pads(just Nemo switchbacks and bags) and it was like sleeping on a cloud. The ground was soft and cushy, perfect if you’re light car-campers like we are. Just gingerly drive over a 110 year old sidewalk to get there! Southern hospitality is abundant here. We can’t thank Breston enough for such a memorable experience!

    Beautiful beautiful beautiful place

This is not my first time to visit but rapidly becoming a favorite. Each trip is different and I find different ways to get more out of the park. They have great hiking trails, sites by the lake, and now I’ve discovered the biking trails too. There’s disc golf, a tennis center and multiple playgrounds. You can camp out in the campground or stay in a cabin or lodge. They also have canvas tents on wooden decks that are super cute. I stayed in the RV for my visit and have both water and electric at my site.

Mostly for permanent house trailers, bad part of town

I had planned on staying here, but opted for Ouachita RV park down the road because I did not feel safe. It accommodates RVs and has full hookups and a dump station, but the atmosphere isn’t worth the cheaper price. It is mainly a house trailer park.

    Very pretty and quiet location

Very convenient to I-20. Approximately 3 miles south of the interstate but you feel like you are a world away. Some of the campsites are very pretty overlooking the lake and the cypress trees. The scenery is unique and beautiful. Great if you’re attending a function at the lodge. Literally steps away from the event location. Nice playground for the children. Sheriff’s department is nearby and they patrol frequently so you feel very safe. You can hear the firing range in the distance. All in all a nice experience. Very easy to access I20. Also convenient to a Pilot Travel Center and a propane place both on the right if you take the Well Road exit off the interstate to get here.

Landry Vineyards Grape Escape RV Sites

Beautiful & Peaceful place with great owners.

This cute family owned winery has 3 gravel pads and 2 cabins across the street from the tasting room. They are located on a hill that overlooks the grape fields. All 3 sites are full hook up. Cell service is good but no Wi-Fi. Only a few miles off the interstate but be careful of the hilly winding roads getting there. Bigger rigs might have a harder time getting there. The only advice I can give is to better mark the campground entrance. Other then that, sit on the hill with a glass of wine and enjoy the view.

    Great weekend Getaway

The locations is great no loud noises, small park but nicely laid out, great view of the vineyards. You drive through the vineyards to get to your spot. Went and did the wine tour which was great to see the work this family has done and invested into the wine production.

Best part was the wine many different choices but the best shout out goes to the staff all nice hard working individuals. Great sense if humor having to deal with my dry cense of humor.

We picked a good weekend as the music was free but heard they have some great concerts as well.

We will return as our grand children live close to the area.

    So peaceful

Our stay at Landry’s Vineyard was very relaxing and peaceful. We went to the concert they were having that Saturday, it was pleasant despite the on and off rain. When we got back to our RV  we could still hear the band, that was pretty neat. There is no shade at the campground, we used a canopy which did help, so that would not prevent us from staying again. We did not go to the wine tasting or tour the Vineyard, so next time we will for sure do that. Our kids visited us that Saturday, they went to the wine tasting for a little while before the concert and said it was cool and would like to go back to be able to stay longer. All in all it’s a great place if you just need some relaxation and chill looking over the Vineyards.
