Even through the road looks scary going in, out 2wd Promaster had no issue and the spots past the rocky bank are pretty sweet - Riverside and quiet! Also, oddly enough there were port a potties scattered about the campsite!
We went pretty far down Spring Rd and passed multiple spots in search of one where we could set up our Starlink and ended up at a spot down by the creek where we only had 3 or 4 vehicles pass by on the road the whole day.
Mosquitos were insane but besides that this was the quiet spot we were looking for after Rapid City during Sturgis
We stopped here for one night and ended up parking down by the boat ramp to get better Solar and satellite, but the campground just up the hill has small standard sites with tables, campfire pits, a pavilion and some bathrooms (needed some cleaning)
Really quiet spot in November - we only saw one other vehicle drive out and leave.
35 minute drive from Mount Magazine
Fantastic spot with pretty standard hookups - water & power up to 50A. Clean facilities with showers and showers even a little dining area.
Owner is supper friendly and outgoing! We talked to him for over 30 minutes.
If you’re after satellite internet, be sure to get a spot on the west side of the camp.
We ended up staying at Cameron Bluff - a different site on top of the mountain, but this area looked pretty good as well! Clean bathrooms, neat visitor center, picnic tables, pavilion, and a bunch of trailheads
This campsite is right on the scenicoverlook where on a clear day, you can see for miles! On cloudy days… maybe 20 feet. But on cloudy days, hikes on the various trails are surreal! And it’s only a short hike to the tallest point in AR - 2753ft above sea level
We’ve visited this site many times throughout the years and there is almost always something new to see! There are trails for all levels and a bunch of caves (sadly closed) scattered around the area. Fantastic views!
We found this quiet spot with a small waterfall on Mountain Fork Creek that has a fairly large (semi-level) gravel parking lot right next to the natural waterfall which gives good noise cover for the road nearby. There are a few small trails along the creek and a few small bluffs with climbing spots for those who like some verticality.
Not great for solar panels but we had a good view of the north sky so Starlink works great here!
Also, a few stray dogs and cats came to see us a couple times.
We didn’t end up staying here, but it looked like a decent spot with cabins and plenty of parking. Not too much to do around this campsite but it would work for a night or two
This small campground is great for tent/ small van camping right next to the river with easy access for fishing or swimming! We didn’t see any prices but the spots looked pretty well maintained.
The campsite is closer to the river/bridge construction than the map says, and was currently blocked by construction vehicles, but it looked like a nice spot with hookups. Pretty noisy with the bridge work going on
This large shaded campsite with water on three sides has water and power hookups up to 50A, clean bathrooms with showers and even a swimming beach (when the lake is up)
Some spots are reservation only and run about $20 or less depending on the hookups.
Don’t expect good satellite due to the trees.
This quiet campsite is more tailored to primitive/tent camping with spread out spots including picnic tables and grill pits. For $10 a night (March 1 - October 31), this was a nice rest stop to cool off for a swim and hang out away from city noise and light.
Fully shaded so don’t expect Solar charging or satellite if you work from a vehicle.
For $25 a night, this little RV park with water and power hookups to 50A is a fairly quiet spot behind a restaurant with fairly new single bathrooms including showers and a temperature controlled laundromat on site.
We registered and checked in online with no issues.
This little park next to the campsite is a nice hangout spot shaded by the mature pines complete with a little pavilion, trash cans, bathrooms, fishing dock and boat ramp. Cool fog in October as well!
Quiet spot with heavy tree cover - don’t expect good Solar charging or satellite. Fantastic lakeside views, especially in the morning. Water hook ups next to most spots and primitive toilets in the middle of the camp area.
Paved roads and semi level RV spots - great spot to stop for a few days!
This quiet lakeside campsite was a nice and quiet spot tucked away from any roads where we encountered very few other campers in tents. No water, power or sanitary dumps, but there are trash cans available - granted many visitors seem to litter at this location. Possible old homeless camps on the west end of the campsite.
Overall, nice quiet spot to stop for a few days.
check in for free pass at the Lake Murvaul Marina on the other side of the lake
We camped out on the beach for three days at a few different locations and had no problems other than soft sand at one of the access roads (check before you drive into the sand) Minimal traffic in September and the beach was still cleaned of seaweed and debris daily due to the hurricane and higher tides - but we only had water touch our tires one night. Overall, great spot! Just pick your driving lanes and parking spots carefully without 4x4
We pulled up about 8pm and snagged one of the northern campsites just in time to watch the sunset over the water from our elevated overlook.
We only stayed the one night but it was a quiet spot with trees on all sides and a small covered bench table and plenty of parking for two-three small vehicles or one larger camper.
Fantastic sunrise and sunset in September!
