Best RV Parks & Resorts near Grand Isle, LA

Grand Isle State Park Campground provides multiple RV sites with full hookups just minutes from the Gulf of Mexico. All spaces feature concrete pull-through designs accommodating larger motorhomes with water and electric connections. Bobby Lynn's Marina & RV Park offers waterfront RV spaces with sewer hookups, showers, and a sanitary dump station, catering primarily to fishing enthusiasts with boat access. Swampman RV Paradise maintains basic but functional water, electric and sewer hookups with drive-in or boat-in access, although sites are arranged with minimal spacing between rigs. Tokino RV Park and Fanz Mobile Home & RV Park round out the options for motorhome travelers, with the latter providing full hookup sites and shower facilities approximately 30 minutes from New Orleans. "Large flat pull-through sites, much larger than we needed but they can accommodate large RVs. Bathrooms are among the cleanest I have ever seen in any state park."

During hurricane season (June through November), availability at coastal RV parks may be limited or restricted. Most facilities remain open year-round, though several parks sustained damage during recent storms and may have reduced capacity. Cell service varies considerably throughout the region, with better connectivity reported at parks closer to New Orleans than those on Grand Isle itself. Dump stations are available at most established RV parks, though Tokino RV Park lacks this amenity. Pet policies generally allow dogs with standard restrictions, but travelers should confirm specific rules before arrival. Mosquitoes present a significant challenge throughout the area, particularly during warm months. For RVers planning to visit New Orleans, Bayou Segnette State Park offers a convenient base approximately 20 minutes from the city with concrete pads, clean laundry facilities, and hot showers.

Fanz Mobile Home & RV Park

    Good Trailer/RV park

Mostly long term residents in residential mobile homes, motor homes, fifth wheels, and travel trailers. Some are in need of repairs and power washing. Not an RV resort. That’s the bad. Now the good. Location, location, location; 30 minutes from New Orleans, $600 a month or $175 a week (as of 11/2024), electricity and water included in price, FHU.

    Grand Isle State Park Campground

"A quaint drinking town with a fishing problem"

So many ways to break this down

    1. The campgrounds. RV and tent camping sites are all pull through. Not big spots, no privacy or shade ... location, location, location. They all have fire pits, water and elect. Some have separate grills. The Tent only sites are on the beach. You have to carry your gear, no driving on the beach. Pick a site closer to the bath houses - there are 2. Big bath houses, plenty of showers.

    2. The Park. There are 2 piers for saltwater fishing as well as a dock for inlet fishing. There are other small marshy areas to fish depending on the tide.

    3. The town. Grand Isle is all about being at the end of the world and fishing. Be prepared to see cars parked along the side of the road and people fishing from any spot there is water. There is water everywhere.

We were not prepared to do serious fishing on this trip but still had a blast. We played with crabs in the inlet, put our feet in the Gulf, watched shrimp boats. There is a hiking trail, but at high tide it is flooded so you can't access it.

No matter the time of year or the wind speed - BUG SPRAY IS A NECESSITY!

    Swampman RV Paradise, LLC

    Accommodating owner, low key environment

This spot is one of a handful of private campgrounds in operation after hurricane last August. Largely occupied by long-term stays, but had a few sites available when I needed something on short notice. Even though he didn’t have any sites available for more than one night, when I had some issues with my rig and needed another night so I could meet with a mobile tech, he let me plug in elsewhere on the property. Also loaned me a 30 amp to 110v adapter.

The campground itself is basic. Sites are close together. There is no shade. Full hook-ups available, but no bath house. However he does have a laundry room.

There is a dock and boat launch on the property.

It is located on a working canal with shrimp boats docked and traveling up and down the canal. There is a cannery right down the way.

Not picturesque in the traditional sense, but if you want to see what a working community is like, this is the place to be.

    St. Bernard State Park Campground

    Busy Easter Weekend

This family oriented campground was busy during the Easter weekend- pro analysis due to its proximity to New Orleans. The campsites can accommodate pretty much anything from tents to big rigs. Most sites are large with good spacing between sites, but not much privacy between sites. The campground, as we as the restroom/shower house, is well maintained. Electric & water hookups. Water actually tasted good. Heard sounds of ATVs riding in the distance. Very quiet at night.

    Grand Isle State Park Campground

    Bring your bug spray!

It is a long drive to the end of Grand Isle, but you are rewarded with a nice state park with clean amenities. Large flat pull-through sites (much larger than we needed but they can accommodate large RVs). Bathrooms are among the cleanest I have ever seen in any state park. Free laundry is a nice perk but do it early (I was first at 7 am and it piled up soon after). Beach access. Not nicest beach but ok. The $25 fee does not include a $6 processing fee (only applicable for the first night) or tax. The only thing I didn’t like were the vicious mosquitoes!

    Bayou Segnette State Park Campground

Cheap and great option for exploring downtown New Orleans!

This was a great place- especially for an overnight. Easy to navigate through the park- all concrete. This site was level. No wifi, but AT&T cell service worked fine. Water and Electricity with dump station on site. Trashcans conveniently around the park.

    Bayou Segnette State Park Campground

    Clean, spacious, and Humid

Nice place to spend some time. Lots of room in the campsite. Quiet, pet friendly. Clean bathrooms and showers. Playgrounds at each of the restroom buildings. Laundry is also available $1.75 each for wash and dry. Very humid- but it is New Orleans, after all. A few trails to hike. Can also launch a boat to fish. Pool was closed while we were there (July 2022). But seemed like it would be fun.

    Grand Isle State Park Campground

    Windy and cold but nice

We went winter camping and fishing. It’s quite a ways from the parking lot to the beach. Camping is on the beach right on the Gulf. Sand gets everywhere. It was cold but the wind was the killer. The wind howled all night. The campground was fairly nice with tables and a fire pit. The bathrooms were far away. You were better to walk behind the thick brush and take a leak.

    Catfish Cabins and Campground

    Friendly and clean

There are cabins and RV sites with FULL HOOKUPS, WiFi, cable, fish cleaning stations, a pool, and a washer and dryer. The owner and operators are friendly and the place is kept clean. There’s no shade so it gets pretty hot during the summer which is the only complaint I have. We’ll definitely be back next time we stay close to Grand Isle.

Guide to Grand Isle

Grand Isle's coastal campgrounds sit at sea level along the Gulf of Mexico, providing camping experiences in a unique Louisiana ecosystem where salt marshes meet the Gulf. Annual temperatures range from 50°F in winter to over 90°F during summer months with high humidity throughout the year. Camping options near Grand Isle require hurricane evacuation plans during storm season.

What to do

Fishing access: Bobby Lynn's Marina & RV Park offers waterfront camping with convenient fishing docks. "This campground is designed to accommodate fisherman and families. All the RV sites and cabins are waterfront with easy access and free launching. There are lots of space and docks for kids to fish off of and the campground is very clean," notes Bobby G.

Explore NOLA: Bayou Segnette State Park Campground serves as a convenient base for New Orleans excursions. "Great location for the New Orleans area. Pool, boat ramp, laundry and showers. Beautiful floating cabins. Free wifi," shares John R. The campground sits approximately 20 minutes from the city.

Historical sites: Visit the Chalmette Battlefield National Park from St. Bernard State Park Campground. "When here, you are very close to the Chalmette Battlefield National Park and Cemetery where the famous battle of New Orleans took place. This park offers great history lesson and period dressed reenactments," explains Paula W.

What campers like

Convenient ferry access: St. Bernard State Park provides easy transportation options to New Orleans. "You can drive your car up about 10 miles to the Algiers ferry terminal and take your vehicle across the Mississippi with a jazzy pass And then drive up to Algiers point where you take a passenger ferry across to the downtown area of New Orleans," reports Lisa M.

Bayou wildlife viewing: The natural waterways around these campgrounds offer opportunities to spot local wildlife. "There are gators in the water filled ditch along the sites," warns Chris L. at the Military Park New Orleans Joint Reserve Base.

Clean facilities: Swampman RV Paradise maintains basic but functional amenities. "Located bayou side with open grounds is this very quiet, professional rv park. Very pet friendly, an accommodating owner and very clean everything made my stay here memorable," reports Clyde B.

What you should know

Military discount options: Several campgrounds offer discounts for veterans. At St. Bernard State Park, Al L. notes, "I needed to stop and make a few repairs on my rig. I checked in at the gate without many questions. Was I a Vet? Yes. 'That's a discount and thank you for your service' the reply came. Are you over 62? Yes. That's a discount."

Bayou conditions: RV sites near Grand Isle, Louisiana often feature standing water due to the regional geography. At Bayou Segnette, one camper observes, "The campground had a very swampy feel, water pooled everywhere and I kept an eye out for alligators though I didn't see anything other than cute little tiny frogs in the laundry room and our power pedestal."

Working waterfront environment: Some camping areas are situated in industrial areas. Stephanie D. describes Swampman RV Paradise: "It is located on a working canal with shrimp boats docked and traveling up and down the canal. There is a cannery right down the way. Not picturesque in the traditional sense, but if you want to see what a working community is like, this is the place to be."

Tips for camping with families

Splash pads for kids: Multiple family-friendly facilities available at state parks. "There is a splash pad that was a huge hit for the little boys. This is the parks main attraction for the locals. Sunday's the locals get in free but it was not packed," notes Paula W. about St. Bernard State Park.

Playgrounds on-site: Fanz Mobile Home & RV Park provides amenities for families at budget-friendly rates. "Location, location, location; 30 minutes from New Orleans, $600 a month or $175 a week (as of 11/2024), electricity and water included in price, FHU," shares James P.

Winter camping considerations: Seasonal changes affect comfort levels. "Coming from camping in Gatlinburg the month before (18 degrees) to here, we were not prepared for how hot and humid and full of bugs it would still be at the end of December. Lesson learned!" warns Sonyia W. about Bayou Segnette.

Tips from RVers

Water pressure management: RV sites near Grand Isle, Louisiana may have strong water systems. "The water quality is good. Bring a preasure regulator as it seems to be higher than normal preasure," advises Ron R. about Bayou Segnette State Park.

Dump station logistics: Consider dump station placement when planning arrivals and departures. "Dump station is set up with the sewer receptacle in the middle of the lane," notes James P. about St. Bernard, and "My few complaints would be the dump station is located to where you have to use it coming into the park instead of leaving the park."

Monthly rates for extended stays: Magnolia RV Park LLC offers economical options for longer-term camping. "Very cheap and very nice people," reports Charles B., with sites featuring full hookups including water, electric and sewer connections.
