    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

RV campgrounds near Gorum offer reliable full hookup sites suited for big rigs and long-term stays. Natchitoches Pecan Orchard RV Park offers electric, water, and sewer hookups with 50-amp service and accommodates large vehicles. Hidden Treasure RV Resort maintains 24 sites with concrete pads that can handle big rigs, providing full hookup capabilities including 30/50-amp electrical connections. "The sites all look fairly level, and the property was well maintained," noted one visitor about Pecan Acres RV Park, which features spacious pull-through sites with 50-amp service. Colfax Recreation Area RV Park includes boat-in access alongside traditional drive-in sites, with full hookup capabilities and sanitary dump facilities for overnight guests.

Throughout the region, most RV parks remain open year-round with varying amenities. Shady Lake RV Park and Arlington RV Park prohibit campfires, while most others permit them. Several parks near Fort Polk maintain a significant number of long-term residents, creating what one reviewer described as "more like moving into an old neighborhood" than a traditional camping experience. Cell service varies considerably across the area, with stronger signals near Alexandria and Natchitoches. During hunting season, campgrounds experience higher occupancy rates, particularly those near Kisatchie National Forest. Many parks require leveling blocks due to uneven terrain, with one camper reporting needing "three blocks to level off" their RV at a nearby state park.

      Grand Ecore RV Park

Corps of Engineer/Red River Waterway Commission RV Park

A few miles from Natchitoches, LA and the nicest RV park in the area. Well spaced concrete pad level RV Sites with gated access. Combination pull through sand back in that accommodated our 45 ft. motorhome and Jeep towed. Rich with grassy areas and trees. Each site has a fire pit/BBQ and picnic tables. Next to boat launch that takes you to the Red River. Nice activity center available to all campers. Very organized concrete surrounded hookups next to pads. Playground and activity building with full kitchen open to all campers.

      Midway RV Park & Marina

Has everything I need including privacy

I was looking for a Louisiana location for an extended stay, I wanted to find a riverside, quiet location with large sites. A place where there was room for my travel trailer, boat, and truck. I found that and much more at Jones' Riverside Marina & RV Park.

It is in the country but not that far from the charming city of Natchitoches. The staff members are always friendly and helpful. There is a well-stocked store along with a carry-out restaurant (sit down part is closed due to covid-19). They have a free boat ramp and docks (very handy for me). The fishing is always good from the bank or a boat. My travel trailer is small but this facility is big rig friendly. I like the laid-back atmosphere and southern hospitality that is present here. This is not a huge, fancy, "resort", but those are not for me. I don't care for the crowds, noise, price, and many restrictions of those places. This RV Park emulates the real Louisiana!

South Toledo Bend State Park Campground

      ALMOST PERFECT

This was my first time at this beautiful state park. I will definitely come back! 3 days was not long enough to do everything! Our camper site was #46. It had a very large well kept wooden deck with a picnic table. The camper pad was long and concrete. It was slightly uneven, we used 3 blocks to level it off..There was also a large sand pad if you preferred a tent. A firepit was also there. Many of the other sites also had decks, with the same things available. It had water and electricity, a dump station, and very clean shower/restrooms . Also available were primitive camping sites with amazing views. Oh, did I mention that our site had a very short walk to a dock overlooking the beautiful lake. This dock had room for four boats! There are beautiful biking, and hiking trails, both concrete and dirt. Several play areas for the kids! There was a beach and swimming area, a nature center,, and playgrounds. The camp hosts were amazing and very helpful. The park was super clean, family and pet friendly, and a great price at 28 dollars a night. Happy camping!!

      Hidden Treasure RV Resort

      Great location

This campground is located on the Cotile lake in Boyce, Louisiana. And it's only about 8 or 10 minutes from I-49, but well worth the time. There is a small boat launch/fishing area. A couple of the guests are long term, but it is very quiet here. No matter what site you are in, you will need to level your rv. We are in site #17 and it overlooks the lake. Owners are fantastic. Highly recommend.

      Indian Mounds Recreation Area

      Quiet place to camp

Indian Mounds Campground is located in East Texas near the Texas-Louisiana border in the Sabine National Forest. It is a quiet and peaceful location to camp.

RV and tent campsites come with a fire ring, a picnic table, and potable water. Good views of the lake and situated in forest area. Nearby hiking, biking, swimming, and fishing. Not many campers in campground and that made for a great stay!

      Shady Lake RV Park

Feels like a Trailer Park rather than a Campground

I was out looking for a place to camp. I drove around the park. Some RV’s had dug in their sewer hoses for a more permanent living arrangement. There were other clues that verified some were living here very long term. You could tell some sites were set up like the people had been living there longer than a year.

While the owner was very nice and friendly, I just would not feel comfortable camping around people who live there long term.

I have since found out that this happens around Military Bases frequently. The reason is because it makes more financial sense for Military Personnel to not stay in base housing. Permanent Base Housing sucks their housing allowance away quickly. However, purchasing an RV and getting into a campground enables them to keep more of that money in their pockets.

This campground is near Fort Polk. I was told by one of the Army People that works there, this is what is happening with all of the RV resorts/campgrounds in the area. I understand what’s happening better now.

However, camping in a campground around a majority of the people that live in a place long term is more like moving into an old neighborhood. It’s equivalent to going to camp in a residential trailer park. That’s not camping. 🤷🏻‍♀️

      Grand Bayou Resort

      Friendly and Quiet

I stayed at site 29 and the site was clean and level enough for my small camper. I went to plug in the power and the box was very old and no 30 amp plug. It only had a 50 amp and 110v plug. I have a 50 amp to 30 amp adapter but for some reason it was not in my box. I did have a 30 amp to 110v adapter so I had to go that route. There is a nice laundry, men and women’s bathroom with showers. On the men’s side of the 4 toilets 2 were out of service. The showers the water trickles out with little pressure but there was hot water. The showers along the walls need cleaning as there was mildew and maybe mold. The rest of the park was clean. The beach area and peers were very nice. There was dozens of people that are clearly living out here in the campground. Lots of them are really junked up. I paid $32 per night. You can tell this campground is minimally maintained given the broken toilets and unclean showers. The folks I met out here were super nice and very friendly. Fishing is really good and the swimming beach seemed very nice. They do have locked gates with security that makes rounds.

    Guide to Gorum

RV sites near Gorum, Louisiana provide access to both the Red River and the smaller water features that distinguish central Louisiana's landscape. Most campgrounds in this region maintain campsites shaded by mature pecan and oak trees typical of the area's subtropical climate. Many facilities experience heightened activity during spring and fall when temperatures range between 65-80°F during the day.

    What to do

Kayaking at Colfax Recreation Area: The oxbow at Colfax Recreation Area RV Park & Campground offers protected waters ideal for paddling. "Nice place to go for a short weekend trip to get out the house and on the water! We like to let the kids kayak in the oxbow at the landing," reports Jessica B.

Fishing from shoreline: Multiple camping areas provide bank fishing options without requiring boat ownership. "There is a nice free day use boat launch as well as a floating dock with a fish cleaning station. The park is very clean and does not smell fishy," notes Paula W. about Colfax RV Park's facilities.

Off-road adventures: Mud riding trails adjacent to certain campgrounds attract 4x4 enthusiasts. "They have an amazing place out there! Something for everyone, mud riding, fishing, trail rides, and sits right on the gorgeous Red River!" explains Ty J. about River Island RV Park.

    What campers like

Wildlife viewing: The mature trees throughout campgrounds in central Louisiana support abundant bird populations. "Slightly hilly with beautiful mature trees, some which have several bird feeders attached! Wildlife galore," shares Cat R. about Hidden Treasure RV Resort.

River sunsets: Campers frequently mention the evening views as standout features. "This is a quiet park right on the Red River. Sunsets are amazing over the river," according to Gary G., who stayed at Colfax Recreation Area.

Pecan orchard setting: Natchitoches Pecan Orchard RV Park offers unique camping among productive trees. "Each row of sites is named after a variety of Pecans. There is a pool and a pond. We enjoyed our stay," writes Caroline D.

    What you should know

Proximity to Fort Polk: Several campgrounds serve as residential communities for military personnel. "This happens around Military Bases frequently. The reason is because it makes more financial sense for Military Personnel to not stay in base housing," explains Granny C. about Shady Lake RV Park.

Variable site leveling: Terrain throughout the area requires preparation with leveling equipment. "Site 19 was quite unlevel, but nothing a few leveling blocks couldn't handle," reports Cat R. about Hidden Treasure RV Resort.

Road noise considerations: Campgrounds near highways experience traffic sounds. "The rv park is right off the road, and you can hear cars going by easily from anywhere in the rv park," notes Lori H. about Arlington RV Park.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Colfax RV Park includes play structures suitable for younger campers. "There is a nice playground for the kids as well as a nice shower house," reports Paula W.

Farm animal encounters: Magnolia Hill RV Park offers unique livestock viewing opportunities. "Our kids loved our long horn neighbors!" Casey L. mentions about Natchitoches Pecan Orchard RV Park.

Christmas festival potential: Winter visits coincide with regional holiday celebrations. "Not far from Natchitoches, LA. There is a big Christmas festival there late November and December with lots of lights," shares Mark J.

    Tips from RVers

Cell service quality: Digital nomads note stronger connections near Alexandria and weaker signals in forested areas. "The wifi was fantastic. Will definitely stop by again when in the area," shares Johnathon about Pecan Acres RV Park.

Steep entrance considerations: Some parks require careful navigation upon arrival. "Entrance road is gravel and very steep but I was able to drive my 34' motor home up pulling my jeep no problem," advises Mark J. about Magnolia Hill RV Park.

Security features: Gated access provides after-hours protection at certain facilities. "There is a security gate for after hours access," notes Paula W. about the Colfax area campgrounds.
