Campgrounds around Covington, Louisiana generally lack dedicated horse corrals or formal equestrian facilities. Bogue Chitto State Park offers the closest option for horse enthusiasts, featuring designated horse trails within its 1,786-acre property. While the park doesn't provide dedicated horse corrals or stalls, the trails accommodate day riders. Land-O-Pines Family Campground and Sweetwater Campground RV Ranch offer RV and tent camping with shady sites and standard amenities including water and electric hookups, but neither specifically advertises equestrian facilities. The campsites at these locations feature gravel pads, picnic tables, and fire rings with nearby access to restrooms and showers.

Located approximately 20 miles northeast of Covington, the park offers multiple trail systems through wooded areas with varying terrain. Trail access requires standard Louisiana State Park entrance fees in addition to any camping costs. The surrounding region provides limited formal bridle trails, though some private facilities may offer boarding or day-use options for horse owners. Visitors planning equestrian activities should contact campgrounds directly regarding policies for temporary containment systems like portable corrals or highlines, as the data shows no campgrounds in the immediate Covington area advertising permanent horse facilities. The campgrounds maintain clean, well-maintained grounds with bathrooms and utilities functioning properly even after heavy rainfall.

      Land-O-Pines Family Campground

      Pleasant campground

Land-O-Pines is a nice private RV park near Folsom and Covington. We stayed two nights because my daughter was in a horse competition at a nearby horse farm. The sites are mostly shady. The streets and sites are gravel and can get a little muddy in spots after a rain. The park was clean and quiet, and the staff was friendly. About half the sites are for permanent users.

Stayed in pull-through campsite C69 which was shady and level. It was a gravel site. There was enough parking for my 34 ft TT and truck. Neighbors are nearby by not on top of you. The site included: picnic table on gravel, no fire ring. Utilities: 20/50A electric near the middle. The 20A receptacle looked like it had some minor burn marks. Water next to power pole, good pressure. Sewer near power pole with 4 non screw-on fitting.

AT&T had 2 bars of LTE and Verizon full bars of LTE service. AT&T Speedtest: 30.8 Mbps down, 3.6 Mbps up. Verizon Speedtest: 4.5 Mbps down, 11.8 Mbps up. WiFi available, but did not use. Required a login.

Would stay here again. We camped at Land-O-Pines Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

      DON'T FEED THE GATORS

Literally, don't feed the gators. There were signs everywhere. Apparently many people don't heed the signs. When my hubby rustled a bag, several alligators swam right up to our site! Our campsite #101 was right on one of the many lakes in the park. Not much room, but nice enough for looking at the alligators and fishing. No sewer hookup, but electric and water. Dump station was a short drive away. We were in the lower area campsites, which were prone to flash flooding. We actually left a day early due to prediction of rain. The bath house was a short walk away and very clean. Camp hosts actually drove around and checked on guests. There are wonderful hiking, biking, and horse trails. Canoeing and kayaking was a short drive away. Did I mention that there are free mini libraries??
