Best RV Parks & Resorts near Glasgow, KY

RV sites near Glasgow include several Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds on Nolin River Lake. Dog Creek Campground provides water and electric hookups with up to 50-amp service on spacious, level gravel pads. "Sites each have a fire ring, nice picnic table, and extra cooking table that was an added plus," noted one visitor. Wax Campground offers waterfront sites with full hookups including sewer connections. Several miles south, Jellystone Park at Mammoth Cave provides concrete pads with grills and fire pits in their newer section, along with 30/50-amp electrical service and full hookups. Cave Country RV Campground in Cave City caters exclusively to RVs with big-rig friendly sites.

Many campgrounds in the region operate seasonally from May through September or October, though some like Singing Hills RV Park remain open year-round. Cell service can be limited at lakeside locations, with one Dog Creek visitor reporting "no signal at all on my phone." Most parks provide dump stations if sewer hookups aren't available at individual sites. The area's proximity to Mammoth Cave National Park makes these campgrounds popular bases for exploration. Reservation systems vary across properties, with some Corps of Engineers parks requiring bookings through Recreation.gov. Pet policies are generally accommodating, though leash requirements are strictly enforced at most locations.

Mammoth Cave Campground — Mammoth Cave National Park

    Nature Lovers Paradise

Site 46B is an exceptional site. Extra large with unobstructed views of the woods away from the roads So much to see and do beyond the cave! This campground is set in the woods with lots of hiking and biking trails within walking distance. Yes, the caves are amazing but don’t forget to explore the surface through hiking, horseback riding and kayaking. The campground has lots of tent campers to big rigs and everything in between. Big rig generators can put a major dent into the campground experience unfortunately but it’s still a beautiful family friendly experience. Bath houses were very clean. Sites are level. The dump station leaves a lot to be desired. It’s a two person operation. One person to use their foot to hold drain open and the other to deal with hose. Wish they offered electric at sites but still one of my favorite campgrounds. Very clean friendly and accessible to activities in the park.

    Bowling Green KOA

    Standard KOA/Awesome stay!

This is a typical KOA park but in an awesome area. The only downside is the traffic noise from the highway. It was not audible inside the RV so it wasn’t enough to disturb sleep.

The park has nice long pull through spaces, and quite a few long term residents of the park. They have a very nice dog park with obstacles for them in a central location to be accessed by everyone.

The sites were level and clear of obstacles. They left plenty of space for vehicles and rigs. We had a pull through patio and the space had a giant beautiful tree that was very helpful in the heat.

Equipment is well maintained at this location! Cell service for AT&T and TMobile we’re both excellent.

Thousand Trails Diamond Caverns RV & Golf Resort

    Diamond Caverns

Nice resort, some full time sites but most sites are well kept. We were at site A7, back in site, 50 amp full hookup fit our 43ft camper and enough room for our truck. Gravel site backs up to trees. Some smaller sites have cement pads but 30 amp full hook up. Great location if you want to head out to the caves.

    Dog Creek Campground

    Dog creek campground visit

Pleasant campground. Trailers and RVs get water and up to 50 amp hookups. Our 4 night stay has warranted a portable waste tank purchased as they have 2/3 hookup. Very nice sites. 1/4 of them line the waterfront. Ours was a spacious pull through. No real camp store, but an honor system “shed” with firewood, produce, and canned goods. No hiking trails, but they do have a beach, playground, and boat ramp inside the park. Very quiet park. Volunteer “hosts were very nice. Warned us of the dry campus and leash laws. Convenient enough for a trip to Mammoth Cave without trailering primitive in the National park itself. Good stay!

Singing Hills RV Park And Campground

    Nice park near Mammoth Cave

Singing Hills is a nice private RV park near Mammoth Cave. We stayed one night. Sites 37, 39-44 are not shady, while the lower numbered sites have shade. The park streets and sites are gravel. The park was clean and quiet, and the staff was very friendly. They have a huge selection of DVDs and some fishing poles you can use for free. Stayed in pull through campsite#49 which was not shady but mostly level. It was a gravel site with grass on either side. There was enough parking for my 34 ft TT and truck. Neighbors are close. The site included: picnic table on grass and fire ring. Utilities: 20/30/50A electric in back. Water in back, good pressure. Sewer in middle with threaded fitting. AT&T had 2 bars of LTE and Verizon 1 bar of LTE service. AT&T Speedtest: 3 Mbps down, 1 Mbps up. Verizon Speedtest: 0.15 Mbps down, 0.13 Mbps up. Free WiFi Speedtest: 24 Mbps down, 15 Mbps up, but frequently drops out. Would stay here again We camped at Singing Hills RV Park& Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Guide to Glasgow

Campsites near Glasgow, Kentucky include diverse options surrounding Green River Lake and Nolin River Lake, with elevations between 680-720 feet above sea level. Most recreation areas stay open seasonally from April through October when temperatures range from 70-90°F during peak summer months. Water temperatures in both lakes typically reach the mid-70s by June, making them popular for swimming and boating activities.

What to do

Fishing from shore or boat: At Holmes Bend on Green River Lake, visitors can find excellent shoreline fishing spots. "Lots of deer and turtles and birds. The beach is great and right next to the marina," notes Thomas R., highlighting the accessibility of water activities within walking distance of most sites.

Hiking nearby trails: Holmes Bend offers several miles of hiking opportunities. "The best are the hiking trails. It's a short drive or walk thru the woods to trail head. Fishers bend has over 5 miles of trails," reports Kenny P., who frequently visits the area.

Kayaking on calm waters: Moutardier Campground provides direct lake access ideal for paddlers. "We kayaked around the lake which was very enjoyable - saw ducks, and birds such as a grey heron. Also lots of fish jumping," shares Pawsfuradventure T., who recommends early morning paddling before motorboat traffic increases.

Beach swimming: Wilson Creek Recreation Area features a natural beach area. "You're only a short walk from the beach which is nice," explains Jessica C., who appreciates the proximity to camping areas.

What campers like

Spacious lakefront sites: Wax Campground offers premium waterfront access. "Some of the nicest shower houses, cleanest sites and nice shade. Even when the campground was full over the holiday week, you didn't know you had neighbors!" reports Laura O., who visited during a busy period.

Halloween festivities: Moutardier Campground hosts special seasonal events. "Family friendly Halloween fun. Has a decorating contest with trick or treat in the campground. Safe and clean with lots of restrooms and lake front sites," shares Laura O., highlighting activities beyond standard camping.

Clean facilities: Cave Country RV Campground maintains high cleanliness standards. "The dog park was just a run area but fairly large with a covered seating area at one end and the pups loved using it. It was also very clean and either visitors clean up well or the staff take good care of the property," notes Marshall P.

Peaceful settings: Smith Ridge Green River Lake provides quiet camping environments. "Overall it's a very nice, clean campground. We were in A2 and it was a little closer to the road than we expected," reports Todd C., who still gave the campground 4 stars despite minor site placement issues.

What you should know

Limited cell service: Many lakeside campgrounds have spotty connectivity. "No signal at all on my phone or my husband phone but it was okay. Over all had a great time," writes Linda T. about her stay at Dog Creek Campground.

Seasonal operation: Most Corps of Engineers campgrounds operate from May through September. Holmes Bend typically opens "April 18 to October 26," providing slightly more extended seasonal access than other facilities.

Train noise: Some campgrounds near Cave City experience railroad disturbances. "Off the freeway and very convenient. Very clean. Great dog park. Do not camp close to the railroad tracks. Loud horns in the middle of the night," warns Thomas R. about Cave Country RV Campground.

Power limitations: Several campgrounds have electrical constraints. "We had an issue with our electric pole showing a fault on both the 30 and 50 amp plug. We informed the attendants as soon as we plugged in and were told they didn't have anyone on call until the next morning," shares Beth H. about her Holmes Bend experience.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Singing Hills RV Park provides family-oriented facilities. "It's a small campground, but great for families. The owners are nice, friendly people who take great care of their park," comments Nomadic L., highlighting the kid-friendly atmosphere.

Fishing opportunities: Green River Lake offers beginner-friendly fishing. "I am currently here and I gotta say I am impressed. The bathrooms are clean, I am not close to my neighboring campers, the parking spots are huge, and it's a great area to walk around," writes Maze M. about Smith Ridge.

Beach swimming: Wilson Creek provides a natural swimming area. "We've camped here multiple times. There are only about 6 or 7 campsites for primitive camping, so it's very quiet. You're also only a short walk from the beach which is nice," shares Jessica C.

Security patrols: Some campgrounds feature regular security checks. "The area is also patrolled at random hours throughout the night to make you feel a little safer, which is nice," notes Jessica C. about Wilson Creek, making it appropriate for families concerned about safety.

Tips from RVers

Site selection importance: For RV sites near Glasgow, Kentucky, selecting the right location makes a significant difference. "Site selection is all important at this campsite. Some have wonderful lake access, shade, and a bit of seclusion. Others no trees, no lake, in the middle of everyone. Section C has some of the nicer sites," advises Casey C. about Dog Creek Campground.

Leveling challenges: Some RV pads require additional equipment. "Gravel pads are typically fairly level; water and electric at all but tent sites. Grass way overdue for cutting making it extra buggy," mentions Dennis G. about Dog Creek Campground, suggesting bringing leveling blocks.

Utility sharing: At certain campgrounds, utilities connect between sites. "Water spigots are also shared, which means you'll have low water pressure if you're both using water simultaneously," notes a reviewer about Diamond Caverns RV Resort.

Late check-out benefits: Some parks offer extended departure times. "They have late check in and check out (5p) which is nice if you wanted to spend the morning on the lake or hiking," shares Faith J. about Wax Campground, allowing RVers to maximize their stay without rushing.
